Classification: Query
Surnames: BIGG/GILBERT
My grandmother was Ellen Mary (Nell or Nellie) Bigg
She married Thomas William Gilbert
Her parents were William Samuel Bigg and Alice Barnard Bigg
London is mentioned for William and Hampshire is mentioned for Alice.
I think her parents lived in Southampton
My grandmother had 5 sisters
Amy -
Bessie - who possibly married a Mr. O'Hay
Cissey - who possibly married a Mr. Small
Daisy - who possibly married a Mr. Phillips
Ethel - who possibly married a Mr. Thompson
My grandfather, Thomas William Gilbert, was born January 17, 1885. London and Godstone Surrey was mentioned for him.
He had some kind of an auto-for-hire business in London as I am told he had 3 cars.
At some time, they moved to Silchester
His parents were Lucy Ellen Starling and Thomas Gilbert.
I think he had a brother killed in the war
He had a sister, Mae Gilbert Baum who came to America in the 20s
My grandparents came to America on the Olympic somewhere around 1924 or 1925, leaving Southampton, I think.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. I don't get time to get back to this site very often so an email would be wonderful.
Thanks!
