I also have a connection to a Bigg or Biggs family from Kent. My g-g-g-grandmother was Caroline BIGG or BIGGS (depending on which primary source you look at!). She had two sisters that I know of: Frances and Sarah Ann. I believe Caroline was born around 1830.
THe family as below is shown in 1841 census for Essex, at West Ham where they had a large market garden:
William BIGG born Minster in Sheppey, Kent
Lydia BIGG born Lydd, Kent
and the three girls as above, all born in Eastchurch, Sheppey, Kent
In 1861 William and Lydia still had the same farm; Caroline had a daughter out of wedlock and was living with her daughter and sister, Sarah Ann WEST, along with Sarah's two children (Lydia and William), in Stepney. Frances was married to Samuel COOPER and was also living in Stepney. Eventually Caroline married a fellow called Thomas COOPER - I believe he was some relation of Frances's Samuel COOPER but haven't proven that as yet.
Sarah Ann is interesting in that her children were born here in Australia. I did some research and found that she married William WEST in 1853, in Victoria, Australia, and that in 1854 they had their daughter Lydia in Newcastle, New South Wales. William junior was born in 1857, also in Newcastle, and after that I think their father died, and Sarah took the children back to England before 1861, where she appears on the census.
Last week a cousin of mine in the UK had her brother visit Eastchurch in Kent, where he took some photos of the church, and also of a gravestone of Richard BIGG who we believe was a brother to William BIGG. I'm attaching the gravestone photo in case it's of interest to anyone.
If any of this sounds familiar please get back to me! I've only just started on this BIGG trail, and am looking forward to the chase.
