Russell Eugene “Rusty” Bigger

MOBERLY, Missouri — Russell Eugene “Rusty” Bigger, 77, of Moberly, passed away April 14, 2008, at Loma Linda Health Care in Moberly.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Million-Taylor Funeral Home in Moberly, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bigger was born January 6, 1931, in Hudson, Illinois, to Lester and Iris Myers Bigger. He married Mary Louise Woolsey on September 9, 1968, in Rock Island, Illinois.

He had lived in Moberly for the past 10 years. Prior to moving to Moberly he was the owner and operator of Bigger Trucking Co. in Nichols, Iowa and also farmed for many years. He was a member of the Hudson Christian Church and a member of the Moose Lodge in Iowa.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, David Bigger and wife, Karen, of Pontiac, Illinois, Richard Bigger and wife, Sandy, of Wenona, Illinois, and Lynn Allen Bear of Wilton, Iowa; four daughters, Marcia Hays and husband, Ken, of Lexington, Illinois, Nancy Raube and husband, Tom, of Pontiac, Illinois, Stacy and Mark Rosenfeld of Peoria, Illinois and Melody and Paul Wilson of Moberly; three sisters, Ferne Kilpatrick of El Paso, Illinois, Eva Knitter and husband, Paul, of Normal, Illinois, and Patty McKinney and husband, Harold, of Normal, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Samuel and John's father was Matthew Bigger. Their mother was Martha Moore. My records show that Matthew and Martha had a total of 9 children between 1725 and 1746.

My name is David Green. I am the son of Patricia Leon Bigger. Matthew's sister. I do not know of much of my family's history on my mother's side. I do know that my mom's brother was named Matthew and her father was Matthew Leon Bigger from Columbus, Ohio. Her mom is Rose Evans, now deceased.

Thank you. Luella Bigger, daughter of Adam and Christianna Holeton Bigger, born 1858/1859 in Ohio seems to have disappeared. One researcher says Luella died in 1934. Where is she after 1860? She is not with her parents in the 1870 and 1880 census. At first I thought she had died. Luella seems to be like my mother who at five years old was the only member of her family not listed in the 1930 census.

William & Jean Bigger, Parents of Rhona Elizabeth

I am trying to find descendants of the William and Jean Bigger.
Lived at Dispensary House in Carnmoney, Daughter Rhona Elizabeth left Ireland Late 1959 or Early 1960 to live in Tottenham, London.
In 1959 they took in a Ghanaian boxer called Maxwell Robertson, who was in Ireland on a short permit. Maxwell lived at 15/17 Clifton Park Avenue, Belfast and also worked as a mechanic.
Know addresses for William & Jean are Dispensary House, 141 Moss Road, Newtownabey.
I think Jeans family name was Gordon, her grandfather or father was Andrew Gordon.
William was a lorry driver & Jean was a part time cleaner.

William was born about 1915.

I am trying to find my Mother's side of the family.

She died when I was young and I don't know any of her relatives - aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents, etc. Her name was Katherine E. Bigger/Bry and she died in 1972 in the Sellwood area outside of Portland, Oregon.

I think she was born in Seaside, but it could have been the Portland area. Her birth date was Jan. 23, 1941.

Any help you can give me would be most appreciated. I would really like to find my family.

Would you please tell me more on the relation of Bigger to Watson? I am a Watson trying to find a connection to Bigger, more specifically a Sarah (Sally) that married John Allen Watson from Virginia. They were both born around 179O's, had a son named Abner, and moved to Missouri and then later to California.

MCGEHEE - Martha June Bigger Hill, 85, of McGehee, died Tuesday,
June 22, at the Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro. Mrs. Hill was born on April 5, 1919, in Rosboro, Ark., to Julia and Russell Bigger. In 1936 she graduated form Caddo Gap High School as the class valedictorian. She later attended the University of Arkansas. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in McGehee. She was also a volunteer with the McGehee Food Pantry and the American Cancer Society and was a life member of the McGehee Elementary School PTA.

She will be remembered as one who loved her family and her church and who spent her life caring for other people. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hugh W. Hill. She is survived by her children, Hugh Hill Jr. of Wynne, and Martha Lynne Tucker and her husband Bill of Irving, Texas; one granddaughter, Jennifer Tucker, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one grandson, Clark Hill, of Wynne.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 24th , at Griffin Funeral Home in McGehee. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at the McGehee First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be in McGehee Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 207 North 3rd Street, McGehee, Ark. 71654.

Looking for information on the mother of an Elizabeth Bigger(s), daughter of Col. John Biggers whose family came from Ireland and settled in Maryland.
Elizabeth was born about 1670, she married Jonathan Prather in Maryland about 1688 and she passed away 21 Apr 1737 in Prince George's Co. Maryland.
I believe her mother's first name was Anne but I have no further information.
Elizabeth and John had a daughter named Mary Jane Prather from whom I am descended.

William 1713 - 1780, Joseph 1722 and John 1720, all came to the US from Ireland. I believe they were from the Edinburgh area, moved to Ireland and then here. There was a father with them in Ireland, but did not come here. I would like to hear from anyone that could add information about their Scottish background or even more after they arrived in the US. My tree goes to about mid 1880s. My great grandmother was Dorothy Biggers 1849-1898. Her father was John W. Biggers.

I have nothing on Moses other than his birth date. I have his father and mother's names an dates of birth etc. I would like to be able to know more about him and his ancesters. I know his father and his father's two brothers came from Ireland. What I am really trying to find out is did they originally come from Scotland. I found 31 entires of marriages etc in Edinburgh starting from the 1500s and many of them migrated to Ireland. Hope to hear from you in November

I'm looking for any decendants of Wilson S. Bigger (Biggers) that was from Jefferson County area of Ohio near Wheeling W.Va.. He was in the 2nd W. Va. Calvary in the Civil War. He was in Company's L and F. This unit was formed in Parkersburg, W. Va. I believe he died in Montgomery Count Ohio about 1918. He was born about 1841. Wm. D Bigger had three sons who came to the US from Ireland. He had a wife either Mary Hume or Elizabeth Furguson. I found a list of all Biggers, Bigar, Biggars. They are all the same family and came from Scotland. Some went to Ireland and later migrated here. I'm looking for anyone that might have information about the Scotland connection. I'm related to one of the sons, William A. Bigger. Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Ralls County is located on the eastern border of Missouri, just north of St. Louis. Also, I noticed that I gave the wrong name for the book. It is "Lick Creek Beckoned," not "Ralls County Beckoned."

Carnmoney/Belfast my husbands family is from Ligoniel and his g grand mother was called Matilda Jones Bigger born 1881 aprox she married John stewart I have a letter refering to the three brothers coming over from Nithdale in Scotland about
the year 1640,and settled in Carmoney Co.Antrim N.Ireland
the brothers were named as James,John,Michael
these brothers were commissioners for the old presbyterian
church and John and Michael were enrolled as freemen in 1654 .
a William Bigger and his son worked a woolen factory at
Biggerstown now called Hightown it was subsidised by the Irish Parliament.He was later a colonel on the Irish side at the battle of Antrim.a David Bigger started the Carmoney cotton printing mill in 1800 later called the Mossley Mills.his son

I found an abstract of a 1840 will of William M. BIGGER of York District, South Carolina. Names mentioned are Mary BIGGER, Ann (slave), Allison (slave), James Lysander BIGGER, David WATSON, Eugene HILL, Archibald BARRON, J. M. ROSS. Does anyone know the relationship of Eugene HILL to Mr. BIGGER?

Eugene HILL was born about 1798 SC and married Permelia (Dolly?), born 1808 SC, about 1820. They were in York District in 1830 and 1840. In 1850 they were found both in Murray Co. GA and Tippah Co. MS a few months apart. They remained in Tippah in 1860 and 1870. Permelia is living alone with her oldest son in Prentiss Co. in 1880. They had at least the following children: Robert 1821, Nancy 1823, Amanda 1828, James M. 1831, William Leroy 1833, Harvy I. 1835, Martha L. Frances 1840, Margaret I. 1843, Joseph A. 1847, and Elijah Marion 1850.

James Bigger (1783) and first wife Jane, had 3 children: Stephen, Abigail and Minerva. Abigail married Samuel Hamilton and had one child, Samuel Bigger Hamilton, b. July 28, 1834, Cincinnati, Ohio. Samuel Bigger Hamilton married Rebecca Holmes November 13, 1865; they had three girls. The 3rd child married Jacob B. French February 22, 1874 in Lockland, Ohio. He was pastor of Presbyterian Church. I haven't been able to find any information on Mr. French at all. Can someone out there assist? If I'm able to help you, would be my pleasure.

I am looking for information about my grandfather. I believe my father was born Matthew Leon Bigger (or perhaps biggar) in 1935 in Columbus, Ohio. My grandfather's name may have been Matthew or Leon Bigger. I believe he was an attorney in Columbus and was married briefly to Rose Evans (my grandmother). Since my father was adopted, and is deceased, the family name and history are unclear to me.

We have an Elizabeth Jane Bigger of 1851 and died on 19 July 1910. She married a James Boyd of 1843 from Templepatrick. He died 2 Sept 1909. They both died in Scotland.Her father was Samuel Bigger and mother Jane
Smith. Any connection.These names appeared in my Boyd family history. Please reply to shharris@shaw.ca

I am looking for information on my Great-great Grandparents. My Great Grandfather John A. Bigger was married to Louisa Fields on July 4, 1876 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He had 13 children: Donald, George, Anna, Ella, Mary. Helena, James, John, Ruth, ...and my grandfather William. They lived for 19 years in Philadelphia, some years in Carthage, NY and their remaining years in Hilton, NY.
