It makes being the person who suggested to Ralph that he give a copy to the LDS SLC library very proud. He was not planning to, and really didn't understand how important it could be at the time, but took my recommendation.

I'm delighted that this resulted in your getting the information. He also has a copy of his book (3rd edition) in the Library of Congress, and many other libraries across the county.

I would dearly love to see a copy of that will you mention. Did you manage to get a copy?

I'm very interested in who the Prof. named Biggerstaff was that donated money/materials to the Monroe County KY library. Was it Willard Gershbacher? If not, who was it please?
Also, were you ever able to get a copy of the Bible record to which Phyllis Turner alluded? I'd love to see a copy.
Thank you for all help.

I am most interested in connecting to a Biggerstaff from either the VA or Irish line mentioned by Ralph. I helped Ralph with his book with both KY research and the group that moved to IL and visited Ralph in NC and Willard Gershbacher in IL before their deaths. I have supported some Biggerstaff DNA research, and wish to support further DNA analysis on a direct line male descendant (must be named Biggerstaff) from one or both of the other-than-Sml 1720 England two lines. This test will be evidence that the Biggerstaff lines are or are not related. The 3 that are confirmed Samuel 1720 descendants on the FamilyTreeDNA.com site are Grover Benton Biggerstaff (from the NC>KY>TX group), and Jim Dale Biggerstaff (from the NC>KY>IL>NE group) and Richard McLloyd Biggerstaff (Samuel>Benjamin>Aaron>Sml P.>Alfred Webb>Samuel Edgar>Lewis Ray Biggerstaff, grandfather of Richard).
If anyone knows of a living direct line male Biggerstaff from the Va or Irish US emigrant lines, please advise me on how to contact him. Thank you.

I believe she was buried in Bellingham. She is at the main cemetery a little east of the main city.
Do you have ref to the Kelly (Kelley family from the books, The Pig Was Islands, The Isle of Guemes, Cottonwood Island as I know there is info on the Kelley family there. The kids went to school on Guemes and Cottonwood and I think their dad was even on the schoolboard. I will be happy to send you the xerox references so you will have them.

Do you know anyone that has a photo of her with her children and or Kelly or Biggerstaff. I would like to obtain at least a xerox copy.

I think I can find names of other children but maybe some died in youth. Did Lwrence, Arthur or Valerie marry and have children?

Thanks from Karen JOnes Lamb
P.S. If you send me a physical address or call me in the evening at 360-375-6655 we can exchange that info on the phone. Was Lizzie at least 1/2 Native American?

I am also doing research on Lizzie. I believe that she was born Lizze Cootes in Musqeam, BC. Our family comes from her brother Robert Coot(e)s. Their father was Charles Cootes and mother was Mary. They also had a sister named Emily.
I would be very interested in any information or verification.
Thanks
Hello all,
I helped Ralph Biggerstaff with Samuel's son Aaron's line. Aaron was a Loyalist and died fighting during the Amer.Rev. Aaron's children, went to KY and are found there in the late 1700s, as was Aaron's brother, Samuel II. Aaron's son, Samuel, and his children went on to Hamilton Co. IL, and my branch diverted out to NE in 1864, after a few years in Linn Co.IA.
I am very interested in comparing the Samuel Eng>NC line to the so-called VA Biggerstaffs. As far as I know, Ralph could not find a connection. Y-DNA will help determine if there is one. The Y-DNA of Samuel's sons' direct-line descendants, that is Sam II and Aaron, are on Family Tree DNA website, under surname Biggerstaff.
If you know of someone from a line other than Samuel b. ca 1720 Eng., please advise as I'm willing to sponsor at least one Y-DNA test for comparison to Sam I. They must be named Biggerstaff, and be a direct line male from a Biggerstaff of old, like the VA group.
Also, if it is possible and anyone has a copy of the Bible mentioned by Phyllis, I would very much appreciate a scan or copy of it. Please advise if this is possible.
Susan Meier

It appears that your Biggerstaffs are not descendants of Samuel Biggerstaff b. ca 1720 England, d. 1764 North Carolina USA.
I am interested in sponsoring a DNA test for a male direct line descendant of a Biggerstaff (his name would be Biggerstaff) who is a separate line from my Samuel mentioned above.
Do you know of someone, who would like to know his DNA lineage, that is from your line? It only takes a cheek swab test and I will provide the kit to be sent for analysis to FamilyTreeDNA.com and to be compared to the other Biggerstaffs already there. The testees from my line are spelled Biggerstaff, although the other spelling is no doubt more original and ancient.
Please tell me about the family line you represent, if you have such a person in mind.

I am wondering if anyone is doing a search on the Biggerstaff family that immigrated from Scotland around the 1890's.
The family names of James and Andrew appear about every other generation. I can go back to James Bickerstaff and Mary Adair, born around 1803 but no further
This family immigrated from the Ayr, Ayrshire area of Scotland.
Jane Wilson married James Biggerstaff in Scotland and I am looking for that family as well as the Adair family.
Thank you so much in advance if you have any information.

Susan Biggerstaff

Carolyn,
I am also a Biggerstaff researcher. My ggrandmother was Alice (Alie) Biggerstaff, b. 1842, mar. William Hobbs. She was living in Potomac, IL when she died in 1934. If you have any information on this Biggerstaff, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Her parents were b. in OH but moved to IN and then the father and children to IL. after the mother's death. Any information you might have on this family, would be appreciated. For the present time, please post anything you might have to the Biggerstaff Message Board as I am in the middle of changing my e-mail and I may not receive anything directly. I am also a Hobbs reseacher.
Thanks, Diana (Hobbs) Poff

Hi to all you Biggerstaff searchers!

I am looking for a specific Biggerstaff - "Temperance" Biggerstaff. She was born in Indiana abt. 1846. Parents were John and Rebecca Jane (Jone) Jones. The family is listed in the 1850 census. Rebecca died later in 1850 and John died in 1853. By 1853, John had taken the children and moved to Illinois, Danville, Vermilion County. I found her sister, Ally Jane (my ggrandmother) in the 1860 census living with John and Ardilla Anderson and their son Charles, a little over 11 months.

I have been unable to locate any of the other children. I am guessing they got scattered. I was searching for Temperance because her name is unusual and I thought she would be easy to find but have had no success.

Anybody out there know of a Temperance Biggerstaff, b. abt. 1846 in IN, moved to Vermilion County Illinois between 1850 and 1853.

Thanks,
Diana (Hobbs) Poff
You can e-mail me direct at auntdink@comcast.net

HELP!! She married Lawrence Kelly on August 20, 1878 and I would like to know who her second husband, Biggerstaff was. I am told she is buried somewhere in Whatcom county. This is for an island history project and I would like to collect all the info I can on her as she was a pioneer woman of our county. I believe she was divorced from Kelly.

She was from Whitesburg, KY.
Anybody out there know anything farther back about my family history?

Thanks very much,

Dave Biggerstaff

I know I'm replying to a rather old post, but I'm trying to get a message to Brenda Rayburn who had a post on 24 June 2000 regarding John Walker, Sr. She stated she had a will for him. I'm trying to determine if his daughger, Nancy, born in 1798 married Thomas Webb. If anyone knows of Nancy or anything about Nancy marrying Thomas, I would appreciate a reply. Thank you.

Sue

Re: BIGGERSTAFF 2 BOOKS ~ Geneaology

I am interested in the titles of the books you have on the Biggerstaff genealogy. I think I have the pages from the Ralph Biggerstaff book. Do you know if this gentleman is still alive? I would guess not. What is the other book about the Biggerstaff. I am married to a Biggerstaff. There are not very many of families with this surname. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks. B C Biggerstaff

Re: Biggerstaff, George Wheeler

This George Wheeler Biggerstaff is the son of Benjamin Wheeler Biggerstaff and Harriet McBride Biggerstaff. He had brothers Benjamin William, John Edward, and sister Mary. Bill (B.W.) was born in Axtel, TX. Benjamin Wheeler came to TX from North Carolina about the age of 12. Ralph Biggerstaff has a book, I think, listing the entire Biggerstaff family. This gentleman is my husband's uncle. We have most of the family history. Any questions, email jbb@ndemand.com. Thanks.
