I am dumbfounded. I never had a response to Billhover or Billhofer. I don't know how the Dorn or Habermann families are connected. George was born in Vorra in 1816 and he married Elizabeth Meyer b. 1807 (possibly Bavaria) on 13 Oct. 1842 in Buffalo, NY Children: Rachel 1843, George (my gtgf)1844, Lewis 1848 (d. civil war), Anna 1848 and Elizabeth 1849. Elizabeth's parents on her death certificate are listed as Henry Meyer and wife Mary. As far as I know, George had no siblings. I am hoping the connection is through Elizabeth Meyer. Hope we connect.
Sorry - I forgot to include these details on the last post.

I also noted on the 1863 letter that there is mention of Lessner. Elizabeth Lessner was godmother to my great-grandfather. She would have been a comtemporary of Georg Billhofer, possibly a sister or cousin.

Perhaps there is a connection between the Lessners, Billhofers, and Dorns. I do have some information on the Lessners if you find they are related. Again, the letter form 1863 written by Georg Billhofer may yield clues.

There are at least three children mentioned in the letter with dates of birth. I do not see mention of the wife.

I have a letter from Georg Billhofer written in 1863. My great-grandfather's mother was, it appears, Georg's sister . The letter mentions the names of his children and dates of their birth.

I have contacted my relatives in Germany and they are currently translating the letter which was in terrible condition. I can read a bit of it including the reference to Tonawanda at the end of the letter.

I would be very happy to share the findings from the letter with you and any descendants of his. I am a descendant of Dorns and Habermanns. Have you located any information on those families?

It's going to take my German relatives a while to translate the letter due to their struggle with the English language and the poor condition of the letter. I will post again as soon as I receive the translation.
Trying to locate Billhofer family relatives. GeorgeBillhofer (probably Georg) immigrated to USA from Bavaria probably in the 1840's. He was married to Elizabeth Meier (Meyer?). Their son George was born in Buffalo, NY in 1844. In NY George was a farmer and belonged to a Lutheran church. All WNY Billhofers died except for my mother. I am wondering if there are Billhofers out there who would be descendants of my gggrandfather's siblings. I am trying to find out when Georg immigrated and the town in Bavaria from where he came.
