Billings and Irene Grindle. His Brothers and sisters were Elijah, Elbina, Abigail, and James. After her first husband died Irene married James Roberts. John's wife Betsey was born in May 1842 in Maine. They later moved to Michigan and had Nettie Mae, Irene, Sarah and Calvin. Nettie married Herman Julian Mallette and had four children.
