I'm doing research on the BILLMIRE/BILLMEYER/BILLMYER surname. If anyone has ties to this family name please contact me.
What a wealth of knowledge you are! I just read all of your postings hoping to find my great grandmother Eleanora Billmyer (AKA Ellen Billinger). She was born in Maryland and married my great grandfather, Isaac Winter there. Isaac was born May 7, 1851. Later, they migrated to Iowa and lived there until they died. Elleanora's ancestors immigrated from Germany in the early 1700s, going first to PA; then Maryland.

Unfortunately, I didn't see anything in the postings to tie my line back with names etc. Do you have any of this information?

I appreciate your time and will wait anxiously to hear from you.

Thanks,
Janet, jblockard@comcast.net

Hi,
Josephine Billmeyer, Clara Belle's sister, was my great, great grandmother. She married David William Musser and they built a home in Auburn, Iowa where they ran a saw mill. One of Josephine's other sisters married one of David's brothers, but I do not know which ones. I have found some census pages of the Ellis Billmeyer family in PA, but have not managed to go back any farther. Feel free to contact me, and best of luck with your search.

Hi Jesse,

I just happened to see if there were any new messages on this message board and found yours. After reading your message, I checked a couple of my family trees (different spelling of this surname) to see if your great-great grandfather was listed in any of them but he wasn't. I see where there is a William Sentel Billmeyer and a William Sentney, Jr. Can I assume they are both Billmeyer's? Which is the correct spelling of their middle name? Where is the Craig Cemetery located? Which one of William's four children do you descend from? Where do you live? If I can ever make a match to one of the Billmeyer/Billmyer trees I'm working on, I'll let you know.

Harold Robinson
Gettysburg, PA
Hi Janet,

Looked for the name Eleanor Billmyer but unfortunately I couldn't find her in any of my Billmeyer/Billmyer family history. You say that "Eleanor's ancestors immigraated from Germany in the early 1700s, going first to PA; then Maryland." Do you have any names of Eleanor's ancestor's that I can compare to what information I have on this surname?

The earliest known Billmeyer/Billmyer/Billmire to arrive in America was Johann Leonhardt Bihlmeier. He arrived in 1731 and settled in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He married Anna Bart(h) and they had eight children. Some of the children spelled their name Billmeyer, some Billmire and some Billmyer. Johann Martin Billmire married Catherine Thomas. They married in Frederick, Maryland. He died in Hagerstown, Maryland. She died in Dayton, Ohio. Most of their seven children changed their name to Billmyer. A few kept it Billmire.

You may contact me privately at family_researcher1944@ earthlink.net.

Harold Robinson
Hi Betty,

It's so nice to hear from you.

Here's what I have on LIZZIE BRIEG. She was born on 23 August 1873 and died on 1 December 1961. I have no information as to where she was born or died. I show her first name as NINA. If the census records show her first name as LIZZIE, then the N. must stand for NINA. Do you agree?

As far as I know, Frank and Lizzie had at least two children. They were RUTH ALBERTA BILLMEYER and BRUCE ROBERT BILLMEYER. I have no further information on either of these children.

Frank was one of 11 children. I'd be happy to share any of my BILLMEYER data with you. If you need/care to get back to me, I can be reached at my private email address.

Do you have any information on the Billmyers and Bellmyers of Harford County, Maryland? Charles Billmyer's entry in the 1900 census says he came from Germany in 1852. (In 1880, his name was spelled Bealmyer, and his place of birth was listed as Hanover). There are some Bellmyers who appear to be related.

Harold
I am trying to find information about a Henry Michael Billmeyer who was in the Cleveland Ohio area during the late 1890's. Henry married Anna E Vormelker nee Hoelter Nov 7, 1894. They had a son Victor August Billmeyer on June 29, 1895. The two were divorced June 17, 1898 in Cleveland. According to divorce documents Henry moved out west and was never heard from again. I have no idea where Henry came from or the names of his parents.

Anna married Henry Buescher (1902) and Victor's last name was changed to Buescher. Henry Michael Billmeyer is the great grandfather of my wife.

We would love to know if you have any information about our side of the Billmeyer family

John

This is in reply to your query on The Billmeyer Surname Message Board on FamilyHistory.com. I believe your GEORGE C BILLMEYER might be related to JACOB BILLMEYER who came to the colonies in 1731 and settled in York, Pennsylvania. He was born @ 1714; died 16 February 1777. He married on _____ __________ _____ HELENA HOLTZENDER (she was born _____ __________ _____ and died on 14 November 1803). Jacob is not my direct descendant but I do have a little history on his family. However, I have nothing on GEORGE C BILLMEYER.

I'll see if I can find his obituary in the York newspaper since you know he died sometime in December of 1971. I live in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and York, Pennsylvania is only about 30 miles east of Gettysburg. I'll let you know if I can find any further information on your great grandfather, GEORGE C BILLMEYER.

I would have replied to your email address but you didn't put an @ after it.
