After I typed that long posting I started researching for Samuel's Parents and back and made a breakthru.
John Byng b. 7 Nov. 1703 St. Bride Fleet, London, England - d. Dec 1788 Mecklenburg Co., VA (another source has him dying Aug 1780 Cecil Co., MD. He was married to Esther Craig
(1718 London, England)-1765 Cecil MD)(haven't researched her yet). I think Esther died in Cecil MD and husband John went to Mecklenburg to live out his last years with or near one or more of his children. (maybe your guy?)
Their children:
Mary Margaret (1741)
Esther (1744 - 1818)
George (1744)
John R (1747-1824)
William Lewis (1749-1829)
Jane (1750)
Oliver (1753)
Samuel (1755)
Hannah (1760)
Elizabeth (1763)
John married Esther in Chester, PA and I think she is listed as Hester on records there but with the naming of a daughter Esther I think Esther is correct.
I believe Esther was a second marriage for John Byng. I find info regarding him married to Martha Young and having 2 children with her:
This research I found gives no info on who posted it but it's http address includes the name Ann Bing Lake Village, AR and the last entries on this pedigree are right up to 2003. I can send you the quick link to it if you contact me by regulare email. My email is gsdmoonshadow@aol.com
James Bing b. 1738 Mecklenburg, VA - d. Feb 6, 1815 Mecklenburg, VA
& John Bing b. 1737
then she also lists as children of Martha Young Bing:
George Bing b. 1760
John Bing b. 1765
BIG gap between 1738 and 1760 so I think this person is mixing children from 1st and 2nd marriage?? She includes nothing more about this Martha Young except her name. Another source says he married Esther Craig in 1750 in Chester, PA (when he was 47). But yet this same person lists 10 children starting in 1741 with second child, Esther b. 1744....so I'm not sure what is going on here and this needs to be researched further to make sure Esther was or was not mother of ALL the children. Even if Esther did marry John Bing in 1750 then she would be definately the mother of Samuel, Oliver, Hannah & Elizabeth and possibly Jane (who was born 1750). With George being b. 1744 I'm not sure if this Martha Young is his mother or if it's Esther Craig and this other researcher has it wrong??

It's possible that he married twice and lost first wife after birth of first child listed but I have doubts about the second son being from his first wife. I need to reseach this John Bing b. 1737 because this would make two sons named John and 10 years apart. It's possible that the first son named John died and so when he re-married he named a second son after himself. Another thing I find strange is that it says this first son named James was born in Mecklenburg, VA in 1718 - this would make this child's father only 15 years old.

Well...anyway ..back to this John Byng b. 1703. Apparently his father came over also and possibly his mother.
My aunt had stated that she thought there was a possiblity that Samuel was the son of John Byng and Frances Shartyng..well I find that he was actually the grandson of this pair.
John Byng b. 1670 Grantchester, Cambridge, England who married Frances Shartyng b. 1680 Cambridge, England. My aunt listed this John as "British sea captain". This John b. 1670 was the son of John Byng b. England and Grace Goode b.England.
I started researching Grantschester and came across some very interesting documents and info.
John and Grace bought property in Grantschester. This record is archived at Kings College - Univesity of Cambridge as part of King's College Estate Records. The college first owned land in Grantschester and these records include transactions with John Byng and then his widow Grace Goode Byng and then Matthew Shortyng among several others before and after them. I'm not sure of the relationship of this Matthew Shortyng to Frances Shortyng who married John & Grace Byng's son, John (b. 1670).
They start with Manorial Documents in Latin and then the court records of this land in Grantschester, Cambridge Eng. from 1300-1896. It looks to me like part of the land of Kings College (Cambridge University) sits on used to belong to John Byng Sr. and then inherited by his son John Byng (1663) who eventually sold it apparently just before he came to America. Also, this Matthew Shortyng bought a sixteenth part ownership in the ship "The London Merchant" so I suspect that maybe this is the ship that carried John Byng and his son, John Byng to America. I printed out the entire set of papers from this archive (113 pages). I now, also am able to take the this Byng/Bing line back to 1477. We go back to a John Byng b. 1510 who is also the ancestor of George Byng 1st Viscount of Torrington who became the Admiral of the English Fleet (b. 1663). The George was the father of the infamous Admiral Hon. John Byng who was court martialed and shot aboard his ship in harbour for losing Minorca to the French at the outbreak of the Seven Years War in Europe. The descendants of the George,1st Vicount of Torrington still hold the title to this day and the Manor home is still in their hands. (Wrotham Park, Hertforshire, Eng.)This manor was bought by the court-martialed John Byng and he gave the manor to his nephew, Robert Byng and it is still in Byng hands to this day. This manor has been used many times as a set for movies such as Gosford Park, Sense and Sensibility and Simon Cowell held his 50th birthday party there in 2009. Cambridge University eventually bought up most of Grantchester which is basically part of the extended campus now. The King's college part (oldest) is spectacular.
