Mary Ann Binger

Hi! My name is Michael Blake and my email is mbblake@bigpond.com I am trying to track down a Mary Ann Binger who may have been a slave or servant of the Binger family in Jamaica. According to our family tradition, John O'Brien married Mary Ann in Jamaica, probably in the 1830s. TRadition has that John was working for the Binger family and met and married one of their maids. Can anyone advise me about this please?

Connie,

Samuel is buried in the Winding Fork Cemetery. Samuel is my second great grandfather. His son Ulva Herbert my great grandfather. Ulva's daughter Nellie Hope my grandmother and her daughter Vera my mother.

I have made many phone calls to the Perry Twp trustee to get the records of the cemetery. The trustees of the township keep all of the records while they are in office and the last I talked to him he said he would have to locate the box that had the information from that cemetery.

We went to the Courthouse in Coshocton and got the death record for Samuel along with copies of the two newspapers that posted his death obit. All of them states that he is buried in the Winding Fork Cemetery. We have been there several times and photographed what few headstones are left. All of the Bingers are still there. The seven children and Jane (the first wife). She was with child when she died. Samuel does not have a headstone and I do not have an explanation for that. The people that own the property said that the mowers are not careful about running over the stones and are quick to throw the in the brush to avoid damaging their equipment. How sad.

But we have also been in contact with the government as Samuel would be eligible for a military headstone, free of charge, as he was in the civil war and honorably discharged at the end of the war.

Any other information I can help you with my email is kelley.noe@rockets.utoledo.edu.

Ulva Herbert was my greatgrandfather, Paul was my grandfather and Everett Herbert was my father. But back to the question of where Samuel was baried, check with Winding Fork Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. I have not made it back there yet to check it out but the info was in the familytree Maker. It starts with john as samuels father.
The info came from bonniekelly-noe.
Connie Aguillo
cjaguillo@gfwireless.com

Ed
My grandfather was Ernest Carl Binger. He died in Dane Cty, Wi.. His father was Joachim Johann Christian, bn. 1830, who married Lisette Kuhlmann. His father was Johann Christian Joachim, bn. 1786, and he married Anna Sophia Boeldt. This family comes from Brunshaupten, Mecklenburg. All of the childeren from Claus on seemed to have had a Johann Joachim Christian or some form of that name.
Might be some relation yet. There were a lot of brothers from this family that settled in Wisconsin.
Maggie

I am looking for information on my grandfather, George Binger, and his father, John Binger. John came from Germany sometime before 1878 because he married Minnie Gath on Feb. 7, 1878 in Wisconsin. He came to Charles City, IA, sometime before 1898 because that's when George was born. George married Francis Mae Brooks in Nashua in 1919. I know that my grandfather had a huge number of siblings, but I don't remember them. I would really like to fill in this branch of my family tree!

I have traveled all over trying to figure out who Samuel's parents were. His obituary from Coshocton stated he was born in Harrison County. Spent a few weeks digging around there - alas - I have given up the search. I have unearthed a wealth of trivial information and documents.... I have tons on Samuel and his 2 wives, some civil war papers for Samuel, and a host of other nifty things - I would love to share! bonkel@buckeye-express.com

Kelley

I also think this is the
same John & Sarah in the 1820 Census of North Twsp.,
Harrison Co.,Ohio, who in that census had 3 sons and
at least 5 daughters.

I would be interested in that list; it would probably save me a lot of time. How far back does your index go? I did find some marriage data on an LDS microfilm, and am now waiting for copies of Marriage and death certificates from the State of Iowa. I've also ordered more films from my local Family History Library.

Family history says that John Binger had 2 families, but no one knows anything about his first wife and family. I found an entry in the 1870 Census for a John Binger of the right age and born in Germany, with wife Mary, born in Ohio, and an infant named Lizette. The bio of John in the History of Floyd County says that he married Minerva Gath in 1878 and lists all the children, including my grandfather, George. There's no mention of an earlier marriage and children. All of the Bingers in the marriage records I found were female, and I'm hoping that the certificates will show what relationship, if any, they had to John.

Even tho' I'm descended from the second marriage to Minerva, I'm trying to find out about the first wife and children. The mystery of it is intriguing, and we may have relatives that we didn't even know existed!

Hi Laura,
My 2nd great grandfather was Samuel Binger, b 1833, Harrison County (on the line with Carroll County). We believe his parents were Michael Binger and Elizabeth Zollars. Elizabeth died in 1839. We have made several trips and spent countless hours in Carroll and Harrison Counties looking for clues. While we have no answers for you, the Binger's in that area did arrive from Frederick's Co., MD. Barbara Binger married a John Stone - we did finally link this union to the migration. John Stone had bounty land from the revolution which he rec'd in Jefferson Co. OH. The rest seemed to follow. Elizabeth Binger married a John Watson in Jefferson Co. they ended up in Coshocton Co (by 1850) - along with our Samuel Binger, Lovina Binger who married a Cochran, Willima Binger and Solomon Binger. In 1830 Michael Binger had a daughter on the census - we think this is Lovina. Sam Binger was living with a 40 year old Mary Binger - possibly an aunt of Sam's. I will get together the lineage and share what we have- it is all scattered and does not connect well. Maybe you can compare it to what you have unearthed and just maybe we can make a connection. Give me a day to get it together. I look forward to working with you!

My great grandmother, Christina Binger, was born on April 15, 1851 and died on November 26, 1908 in Sellersburg, Indiana. She married Joseph Koerner and they had several children, including Bertha, my grandmother. If anyone has any information on the Binger family in southern Indiana during the releant period I would be very grateful for your help.
