My grandmother was born in Polmont on a farm in 1908, she was Margaret Binnie Ure Dewar - the Binnie coming from her mother's side. I am trying to trace back her roots in the Polmont area.
My special interest is that - ironically - when I grew up I married a Binnie too and my gran's great grandsons are now Binnies...coming full loop.
The confusion seems to arise, when doing tracing, because the Binnie is sometimes written as Bennie and vice versa (there are docs in my gran's name which have both spellings but always refer to her)
