I believe that Martin Binnion was the son of John Binnion and Sarah Cockran. John and Sarah were married in 1796 in Franklin County, VA. Does anyone have any information re where John and Sarah might be buried, etc? I believe that John went to Titus County, TX, but have no record re his death there, etc.
Martin was the father of my great/grandfather Thomas S Binnion, who was born in Titus County, TX in about 1843.
Article about Jason Binnion

I found this article about Jason Binnion in the Galveston Daily News dated Jan 10, 1901 -

A Man Shot to Death

Paris, TX Jan. 9 - Jason Binnion, a prominent farmer, who lived two miles below Biardstown (?), in the southern portion of the county, went to the home of his brother-in-law, J.M. Barr, a little after daylight this morning and borrowed his shotgun. He started back north in the direction of home. He got over in Mr. Barr's pasture, behind the garden, a hundred yards from the house. Shortly afterward the report of a gun was heard. Nothing was thought of it at the time. A neighbor's boy on the way to school discovered the dead body of Mr. Binnion with his face shot away. One of his shoes and a sock had been removed. The deceased had been in bad health the last few months, but was in prosperous circumstances financially and lived happily with his family.

James Benjamin Binnion was born in 1836 in TN. He married circa 1861 in either Bell or Hunt county TX. His wife was either a Carnet or Cornish. She died circa 1865 in Bell County, Texas. Her step-grandmother was Martha E. Hudson, who lived in Bell County about 1890. James Benjamin Binnion was killed in the Civil War in 1862 in Arkansas, and was buried in an unmarked grave wherebouts unknown. His only child, Mary Elizabeth Binnion, married Thomas Elijah Smith. They were my great-grandparents.

I am posting this message on both my post and Lisa's. I was unaware that Roger had a son. Please email me at hcmisfit61@ yahoo.com. I am not a member of this family. My co-driver is your cousin, Keith. I need more info on your parentage, though, if you don't mind sharing it. I had met Roger only twice, at Mac's memorial service, and again at Susie's memorial service. I also do not recall a Danny as cousin, but Keith's sister is known as Dani, so this may be the cousin you are referring to. If so, then, yes, you do have an Aunt Lisa, as I helped Roger get in touch with her. Please email me.
As for the Binnion's, as I said in the reply under Lisa's post, this branch is very elusive, and have made some progress on it, but not much, over the years. I have much more on the Spratling's (your gg grandmother's line). I am always willing to share what I have.

This is very interesting. I know that Roger and Lisa had different mothers, same father. I did not know that Stan's son, Roger, had a son.
I had met Roger only twice. My fiancee never mentioned Roger having a son. The Binnion line is very confusing, and this branch is very elusive in the records. Is it possible for you to email me with more info on your parentage? I know in the Texas Birth Records there is a Roger Leon Binnion, but, so far, I have not made a connection with him to this branch. Please email me at hcmisfit61@yahoo.com.

Hi Ray
Thanks for your reply! My info on Elizabeth comes from the birth certificate of her daughter Beatrice Maude SKINNER dob 18/11/1897. The certificate shows Elizabeth SKINNER(nee BINNION) living at 8 Court 10 Cecil St at that time. That's all I'm sad to say that I know about Elizabeth for sure altho there is an Elizabeth in the 1881 census shown as a servant at Erdington Hall which could be her. My direct email is weasels@xtra.co.nz if you would like to talk further about Elizabeth and her family.

Hi Ray
No,a brick wall for me. Elizabeth married Henry Skinner CARTER but they dropped the Carter & used Skinner somewhere between 1884 and 1898(a bit mysterious!). In 1884 they lived in Frederick St Aston (from the marriage cert) but alas they were not living there in the 1881 census. The marriage cert gives her dad's name as Thomas but again, I have had no luck working this out from the 1881. There was a Binnion family in the census with an Elizabeth where the head of house (William) was also listed as a lodger-do you know anything about these Binnions? Maybe William is Thomas's brother or cousin? All clues greatfully accepted.
Regards, Jeani

Irma Sue Binnion

Irma Sue Binnion was born Lydia Binnion in Sweetwater, TX on July 26, 1918 to Martin E. Binnion and Gladys Spratling. She had 1 sister, Myrle, and two brothers, Stan and Martin (aka Mart). Her paternal grandparents were Martin Binnion and Sarah Letitia Hudspeth. Her maternal grandparents were W.H. Spratling and Sarah Frances "Bessie" Trimble.
Susie was married three times. At the time I knew her, late in her life, she could not remember the name of her first husband. She told me it was a very short marriage that lasted less than a year. Her second marriage was to Joseph Louis Portman. They had 2 children, one of which is my fiancee, her beloved son, M. Keith Portman. Her grandchildren included her beloved grandsons, Derrick and Branden. Her third husband was Albert Henry MacAllister (McAllister). Susie and Mac were married for over 40 years.
Susie loved to cook, and she absolutely loved to entertain. She was a very sociable person, enjoying nights on the town and meeting people (even at the age of 80!). She was fiercely loyal to her son and grandsons, was proud of her family heritage, and loved all of her friends in El Dorado County, CA and Southern California.
Her faith was strong, often comforting those she knew in times of distress. I can still hear her tell someone "this too will pass" as she holds their hand. She loved animals, and often took on strays that had been abandoned or lost.
Susie passed away on June 16, 2002 at the age of 82 in Santa Ana, CA, one year ago today. She was cremated and her ashes spread at sea. There is no gravesite to visit, as there is for her husband, Mac, who passed on 41 days preceding her death. So this is my tribute to my best friend. A wonderful warm, generous, humorous woman who can never be forgotten. I love you Susie. Rest well in His Arms.

Binnion Bible

I have posted entries from the Binnion Bible which belongs to my fiancee. It is under the Hudspeth Surname Board as most of the entries are from the Hudspeth Line. The Binnion line that is recorded are from the marriage of Martin E. Binnion and Sarah L. Hudspeth. If this Binnion line is familiar to anyone, please contact me. I cannot get passed Martin to find his parents. I do have an article on the passing of M.A. Binion (or Binnion) who was married to a John Binion (Binnion). According to the article, they had eight children, of only 4 who survived - two girls and two boys. I do not know if this Binnion is the mother of Martin or not.
