Benjamin Tallman(wife Dinah Boone) lived on Smith's Creek........so did Andrew Bird(wife: Magdelene Jones). The Tallman's moved to Pickaway County, Ohio. A son of John and Rachel (POWNALL) Peters lived very close to the Tallman's in Pickaway County, Ohio.

One of Benjamin Tallman's descendents married a Slavens.
Benjamin => James => Rebecca Tallman m. Reuben Slavens

The Slaven's were from the Staunton, VA area. Possibly 5 Peters married Slavens in Pike County, Ohio:

Milton Peters m. Ruth Slavens
John Peters m. Sarah Slavens
Clinton Peters m. Elizabeth Slavens
Harriet Peters m. Franklin Slavens
Mary Lincoln Peters m. William Williams (parents: Naomi Galford & John Williams)...Naomi Galford was a grand-daughter of Naomi Slavens(m. John Galford)

John Williams(above) first wife was Delilah Cain. Delilah's sister was Sarah Cain, who married Andrew Bird Jones(son of John Jones and Elizabeth Bird). Elizabeth Bird was the daughter of Andrew and Magdelene (Jones) Bird. The Andrew Bird Jones descendents can be found in Pike County & Scioto County, Ohio.

We Peters, speculate that Mary Bird, daughter of Andrew and Madelene Bird married a James Peters first in 1749, James Peters is said to have drowned in the Susquehanna River in 1750 and posthumously a John Peters was born in Perry County, PA. We presume, Mary Bird took her child back to Chester County, Pa(due to French and Indian War) and met and married Stephen Ruddell in 1752. John Peters met Rachel POWNALL and married in 1779. All the Peters
mentioned as marrying Slavens were descendants of John and Rachel (POWNALL)Peters.

Hey All,

See attached Custer link to Stephen Ruddell(1st wife: Mary Bird#001; 2nd wife: Sarah 'BARNES' Beggs). Sarah BARNES m. Thomas Beggs and had a James Beggs. James Beggs married Mary Custer(See attached). Thomas Beggs died May 1780 and Sarah remarried to Stephen Ruddell. His wife also died 1780. Stephen Ruddell moved to Woodford County, KY sometime before 1800 when he died(probably 1796 when he sold Ft. Ruddell to INSKEEP's).

So this is a much bigger connection to our Peters.

I am a direct decendent of James Beggs b.4 Apr 1748 and Mary Custer. m 25 Aug 1768. She died 18 July 1833. He died 15 May 1835 at Clark county Indiana. I see no connection to the referenced Mary Custer and James Beggs. Is there one?

Hi,

Try looking down at the far right of this file link. I just took a trip down to Brocks Gap area in the spring and found more info on the Beggs. I'll have to look for this info again.

Thomas Beggs m. Sarah Barnes right?
They had James Beggs m. Mary Custer
Thomas dies about 1780 and Sarah remarries to Stephen Ruddell.

Well, my connection comes in to Stephen Ruddell.

James Peters m. Mary Bird. He dies in 1752 timeframe and 3 months after a John Peters is born(my line). In 1753, Mary Bird marries again to Stephen Ruddell. Mary Bird also died about 1780, but we have not been able to find her grave.

Sarah Barnes Beggs and Stephen Ruddell were married in 1782 in Brocks Gap.
