Does anyone have any further information on Stephen Birdsall born about 1826? He had a wife, Frances, and children Emily, Walter, Clarence and Frank. He appears to have lived in Columbia County and later in Westchester County, New York.

Hi Jean,
That would also be the line that has Audrey Sidebottom nee Birdsall in it. She is descended from George, William and Hannah's 2nd son. I've been in contact with her for a long time.
I have a family tree that you might be able to see on Ancestry called Jeffery/Combe tree. It has a fair amount of our Birdsall family in it.
I live in Sydney Australia. My great-grandmother Mary Jane Hartley nee Birdsall came out to Sydney from Manchester in 1907 with her husband and five children. Her father was William Birdsall, who lived in Wike, near Harewood. His father was John, William who married Hannah's twin brother.
My email address is linda_necia@yahoo.com.au
Do you still live in Yorkshire?
All the best,
Linda

William Birdsall (1802) married Hannah Morley, their son John married Elizabeth and their son Stockton Richard was my husbands great grandfather. I would like to establish a link with you, if possible.
Cheers,
Jean Birdsall

Any information on David H. Birdsall is welcome. There are several Davids in this time period, all related since it was a family name. One is an uncle and I think this David is a first cousin. Any help in sorting them out would be most helpful. Any other related names would be appreciated.

Mary Birdsall b, New York, dau of Egbert Birdsall, married John Wilson Stump of MD, lived in TX

Great-GGM Mary Birdsall born in NY around 1836-7, believed to be a daughter of Egbert Benson Birdsall, 1797-1845 (who is son of Lewis Birdsall and Patience Lee of NY). Married in TX in 1854 to John Wilson Stump of MD, and they remained in TX until his death in 1867.

Some children: John Wilson Stump, Cassandra Norris Stump, Herman Stump (died in childhood) and possibly Egbert Birdsall Stump and Sarah Biays Stump. The latter two might have died in their teens in MD. One child Kate Birdsall Stump, was born in FL in 1871, after she was widowed. Mary Birdsall's father, Egbert Birdsall, was military, stationed in FL at his death in 1845. Most children raised in Houston or Galveston, TX.

Would appreciate any assistance in verifying Egbert Birdsall as Mary Birdsall's father, or the identity of her mother, or any other information about her children Egbert B Stump and Sarah B Stump.

Re: Archibald Birdsall

Archibald Birdsall, born ca. 1793 in Dutchess Co., NY (Putnam Co. after 1812), married Betsy Dean (not Phebe), daughter of David Dean and Deborah (Higby) Dean. Archibald d. 19 March 1868 and Betsy died 15 April 1870. Both are buried in Kelly Cemetery in Carmel, Putnam Co., NY. Cemetery records give Deborah's maiden name as Higby, not Perkins. Archibald was the son of Thomas and Priscilla (Marsh) Birdsall. Archibald's siblings were Jeremiah, Alpheus, Jacob, Robert, Smith and a sister, Daney, who married Elijah E. Dean, Betsy's brother. Archibald and Betsy had at least 10 and probably 11 children: (1)John; (2)Emily m. Elijah Lee Lockwood; (3)Sarah Jane m. Stephen E. Arnold; (4)Anna Maria m. Harrison Heroy; (5)Legrand M. m. Susan Leverich; (6)Warren T. m. Sarah L. "Sadie"; (7)Deborah; (8)Matilda; (9)Elizabeth m. ____Richards; (10)Daniel m. Emily; and probably (11)David D. m. Elizabeth Lockwood. Most of these names come from the probate file of Smith Birdsall (Surrogate Court, Carmel, Putnam Co., NY, Liber B. Old Estates, p. 567 #1702), who died 30 March 1866 without wife or children. His will named his siblings and their children.
It is posted that Lockwood Birdsall's parents were Samuel Birdsall and a Martha __? This came down through 'family lore'. I saw on a Genforum posting that a Herbert Birdsall replied to you that Alpheus Birdsall married an unk Lockwood, had 9 children one of which was named Lockwood. I checked his postings and he has not posted on there since 2006.

Regards, Bettye

Do you have further info on Alpheus Birdsall ? I am helping a friend research her Lockwood Birdsall. According to the 1860 census he was bc 1815 NY. In a response to a query that you placed elsewhere, the man responded that Alpheus Birdsall had a son named Lockwood Birdsall.

Regards, Bettye

Ruth Birdsall was christened on Christmas Day 1813 at Church Fenton in Yorkshire. She was the daughter of Joseph Birdsall and Elizabeth Dawson. Her brother John, born 1802, christened with his twin brother, William on 11/11/1802 at Church Fenton was my great great great grandfather.
Ruth was still alive when the 1881 census was taken in England. It lists her as 67, a widowed nurse, living at Ryther cum Ossendyke, Yorkshire with an unmarried son Charles Kilvington who is 29 and a 7 yr old school boy boarder from London, John Stead. Her sister-in-law Ann Birdsall, listed as a widowed grocer, aged 70,lives next door, with her unmarried 42 yr old bootmaker son William. You can easily see all this on familysearch.org
Does your book contain Lucretia Birdsall, b. 1757 in Dutchess County NY? She's supposed to be the daughter of Nathan and Content (Soule) Birdsall.

I'm particularly interested in her marriage(s). I'm told she married George Cleaver, and they had several sons, but George Cleaver died ca 1778.

POW/MIA Korean War, BIRDSALL

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. His remains were never recovered. Our government has no family contact at this time for this soldier

Soldier: LEO RAY BIRDSALL
Born:
Date of loss:
Home of Record: Los Angeles, Calif

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Could've been listed as Minburn or Adel or Dallas Center. All in Dallas Center. His parents were Samuel G. and Marthat Maria (Kirtland) Birdsall.
