I am having a heck of a time positively id'ing my ggg grandfather. I'm hoping someone can help me out. My gg grandmother is Edith Birdsell (married John Moser). Edith's father is listed as Henry Birdsell (per Edith's death cert). In the 1880 census, Henry is listed as being born in Ill, with his parents both born in Ill. Edith's mother is "Joie", born in PA, and both parents born in PA.
I am finding some "close hits" with a Henry Birdsell Jr and Sr both buried in LaCrosse. Henry Jr married "Joannah S Emmons" in 1870 in Mauston, WI (between LaCrosse and Janesville). This particular Jr. and Sr. served in the Civil War. One discrepancy is that on the marriage certificate, Henry Jr. was born in NY. So...it just doesn't feel like a match.
Anyone out there have any helpful hints? I am just starting this tree of mine, so as you all know, my fingers are glued to the keyboard. Thanks!!!
