Peggy, Your Robert is my paternal grandfather. Robert Lee Birdsong, born 1895, died 1995. His wife is Ruth Haymes Birdsong. My grandparents are buried together in Charlie Cemetery, Clay county, Texas. They resided most of their lives in Wichita Falls. I will be happy to share any other Birdsong info I have. I have limited info on my great grand father, also named Robert Lee Birdsong, and my GGG father William Birdsong. Other relatives include Fulfer, Teague, Mathews, Fleming, I believe there are Wintons as well . Perhaps you may have some info I could use. Let me know if I can help Thanks.

Hi, I am looking for any info on the family of Thomas Birdsong listed on the 1860 census for Hinds Co, Miss. and also seeking info on the James Inman who is listed as an overseer on the Birdsong farm.

Investigation the possibility that this Inman may be James Inman from Sussex Co -- Son of Oliver H Inman.

This Birdsong family was originally from Sussex Co and can be seen on the 1850 census.

Any info on the individuals and or the connections between these families would be appreciated.

My mother was a Birdsong from the Macon Georgia, Gordon Georgia areas......her dad was Elijah Milton Birdsong and her grandfather was Floyd Birdsong...any information about the family beyond that would be appreciated..

Jesse, John P, Irwin Birdsong

Going backward in time:
(1) My great, great grandmother was Cebelle Birdsong (1846-1875), the daughter of Irwin and Mary Birdsong. She married Henry Joseph Pool (1860, Texas).

(2) Irwin Birdsong was born in Alabama (1816) and lived in Mississippi until his death in 1886. His wife's name was Mary. I do not have her surname.

(3) John Proctor Birdsong may be Irwin's father. Does anyone have any information? He moved to Mississippi, but I have no paper trail linking him to Irwin.

I would like help connecting my gr grandfather Oscar D Birdsong (b. 1869 in Mississippi) to his father (William? Franklin Birdsong). Oscars death certificate lists mothers maiden name as Martha Holly. The 1880 census has Oscar living with Franklin Birdsong (b. abt 1827). I have found several family trees for a franklin birdsong that has this birth date but all but one do not list a son named Oscar.

I think this is Nealy & Betsy Birdsong & son, probably Newton. Do you have any additional information? Nealy & family lived in Maries Co, MO Died in 1907 & 1908. Can you mail a copy?

I am your cousin, Bob. My dad was Burl, your uncle. We are Cherokee from Hugo, OK. Grandpa would not speak of it much because it was not that great. All moved out west to Blythe due to collera of their hog farm. Very much like "grapes of wrath". Please email for more detail.

Hi, I see you know about the Birdsongs in GA. I am trying to figure out the source of a middle name Birdsong in an ancestor's name. He is Benager/Benjamin Birdsong Knowles, born in Hancock County in 1820, son of Rice Prettyman Knowles. I do not know the name of his mother, so I wonder if she might be a Birdsong. Rice married circa 1800, so I guess she would have been born in the 1770s or early 1780s.

Just thought I would check, on the off chance that you might have a Birdsong in Hancock/Greene Co, of that era who might have married a Knowles.

I saw that you were looking at the BIRDSONG surname. You mentioned Johnny Preston BIRDSONG. The Preston caught my eye because my great great grandfather was Preston BIRDSONG. He was born and died in Missouri 1838-1906 and was married to Mary Elizabeth Jobe. He had five children. One died in infancy. Of the four remaining children, all married and lived and died in Missouri. The daughter was my great grandmother. The sons were James Logan Birdsong married to Alice Parrish (I don't know if they had any children.); Thomas M. Birdsong married to Effie Swinford (children were Fred, Arno, Stella, and Ethel); Tillman A. Birdsong married to Nancy Elizabeth Allee (children were Raymond and Clay).

I don't know if any of this will help you or not. But if you see something you want to know more about, I can share with you what I know.

Aubrey Cleveland Birdsong b 1884 California, Moniteau Co., Missouri and died 15 Sep 1968 in Comanche County OK.

He married Laura Neda Parker in December 1904 in Dallas TX. They lived in what is now Cache OK. One daughter born who survived - Anona.

Who were A C Birdsong's parents?

His full name on his WWI Draft Registration was Aubrey Cleveland Birdsong.

Hello all My name is Jessica Bernelle Birdsong. Im from Northern CA. But i now live in Reno. my fathers name is Richard Birdsong and his sisters name was Karen Birdsong. He is getting up there in age and since most his brothers and sisters are dead I worry he might die sooner rather than later. I would like to try to trace his Indian roots for him. Okay, I am the grand daughter of Maude Florence Hopkins nee Birdsong, my father was Alonzo Lee Hopkins brother to Glenda(my Aunt). My mother tells me Maude went to live with her Uncle and family(Birdsongs) when she and her siblings were young, their mom died and Dad was unable to care for them. I too am looking for more info. on her. You can search George W. Hopkins on Rootsweb.com and find her name and all of her childrens names.

The Birdsong name is said to have been derived from the
German for Fogelsong. Fogel meaning bird. The original
Birdsong's of Virginia were not of Indian Extraction. My ancestors in Texas were not. However there were and are Indian and Black Birdsong's, for whatever this is worth.

Hey... I am looking for information on the Birdsongs from Southern TN... I beleive there was a Birdsong book done a few years ago that even has my dad in it... My husband and I have recently become interested in knowing more about our families, especially military activities and foreign ancestors. Here is what I have figured out so far:

My Grandfather was Joe Thomas Birdsong, who died in 1991.
My Great Grandfather was Joe Glaze Birdsong who died I think in 1990 or 1991.
My great-Great Grandfather was Thomas Glaze Birdsong.
That is as far as I know for sure... Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

My gg grandfather was John C. Birdsong brother of Jesse Richard.I was able to visit Union,SC and Sussex Co,VA several yrs ago looking up records. I was able to hold the actual will of Major John. It was awesome.
