I am searching for a john Birk, born circa 1760-1770 from Germany, he described his birth place as land of the Emperor in the Rhine River Valley. He came probably first to Virginia and came to Ste Genevieve Missouri by 1790. Father was John Birk, Mother Anna Parson or Anna Perkins. John Birk had three children after he came to Ste Genevieve, John Baptiste, Marie Anne and Joseph. He was a black smith and died 1811.
Hi, I have just started to do this ancestery stuff, trying to find out about my dads side of the family. My dad was Raymond Birk, son of Richard Montgomery Collings Birk and Mary Snyder Birk. My dads mother gave him to an orphanage home in Iowa when he was 5 years old when his father died. But i have papers from the Annie Wittenmyer home that says who his parents were and a letter from his sister Vella that says she remembers her brothers birth. Anyway, My name is Teresa (Birk) Glenn, Like i said, i have just joined Ancestery.com. This is so neat because I went from not knowing anything about my dads family except for Vella to knowing who my grandparents were and great grandparents. My email is TERIGLENN@hotmail.com

Seeking info on Birk family from Gorsk. Isaac Birk (father Elias Birk) was born about 1882 in Gorsk, came to NYC in 1904 with his wife, Henrietta Mahler Birk. For a time (approx. 1914-15) he had work in Montreal but before and after lived in NYC, working as a carpenter and as a storekeeper. Hoping to share genealogy information. He later changed his name to Burk. Thanks,

Marian Wood

BIRK, Trine Louise

Please help! Louise BIRK was my mother-in-law's mother. My MIL's parents (Oscar and Louise Sorsdahl) divorced around 1930 and my MIL was sent to live with her father. Her mother (Louise Sorsdahl Birk) married Adolf Birk in SD in 1937 and they moved to Gadsden county. Adolf Birk didn't like my MIL so Louise Birk was not allowed to keep in touch with her. My MIL did not find out her mother had died until some years after the fact and has never known where she was buried. My MIL is 81 now and in very poor health. I would love to be able to tell her where her mother is buried and possibly show her a picture of the headstone before it's too late! Here are the details:
BIRK, Trine Louise (always went by Louise) born 1892 in Norway, died 1951 in Gadsden county, FL.
Maiden name was Carlson/Karlson.
1st married name was Sorsdahl.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!

Birk family in Wayne County and Appanoose County, Iowa

Alexander Birk / Burk and wife Permalia (Carlisle) Birk moved from Carroll County, Indiana to Wayne County, Iowa between 1864 and 1870 with three children, all three children born in Indiana. These three were John born about 1856, Joseph R. born about 1860, and Martha J. born about 1864. Another son was born after the move to Iowa. He was Richard Collins Birk, born about 1873. So far, I have been able to find that Joseph Birk had a son named George D. born about 1882. John Birk and his wife Evaline had 10 or 11 children. The names I have been able to come up with so far for the children of John are Everett, Edith, Ethel, Wade, Blanch, Hazel, and possibly Cloe. All these were born between 1876 and 1892 in Iowa.
If you are a descendent of this Birk family, I would like to communicate with you.

DANISH BIRKS

I am looking for family members...My Danish immigrant ancestor was Christian/Kristian PEDERSEN BIRK, who came to the U.S. (port of departure unknown) via New York in 1884 and settled in Nebraska. He was born 19 May 1863 in Ikastsogn, RingkøbingCounty, Denmark to Peder Christiansen/Kristiansen BIRK and Elisabeth
PEDERSDATTER (1829-?).
Peder CHRISTIANSEN (BIRK efternavn used then?) was born 6 June 1830 in Bording, Ringkøbing County to Christen CHRISTENSEN (BIRK?) and Anne Kirstine IVERSDATTER. He apparently had siblings named Christen Christensen and Johann Carl Christensen BIRK.
Peder married Elisabeth on 19 November 1852 in Ikastsogn, Ringkøbing County. I have no death dates for either Peder or Elisabeth (other than that they died after Christian's birth in 1863).
My Danish/American Christian also married a Danish girl, Hansine Johanne PEDERSEN from (Saksild Parish?) Aårhus County (they were both in their early teens when they emigrated and possibly met on the ship. Christian & Hansine were parents of 13 children: Mette Ruth Elizabeth, Peder Rudolph, Mette Ruth Elizabeth 2 (marriedFloyd Vaughn), Petrea Jessine, Agnes Barbara-twin to Petrea (married Charles Leslie), Darice Violet (married Joseph J. Klinge), Alice Nathalia (married Grover Barnhardt), Sarah Dora "Sadie" (married Charles Hampton), Anna Cecelia-who was deaf (married Fred Arthur Clayton), Wilmer Hoge "Dete" (married Floy Blanche Barbee & Jennie____), Jesse Jacob (married Mary Mowery), and Christian, Jr.
Would love to hear from anyone with information! Sincerely, Karen Birk Weatherford
Levi Birk's Fraternity Pin

I have Levi Birk's Fraternity Pin from 1902. It is a beautiful, 14K, 2 piece, jewel encrusted (opals, emeralds, and one tiny cut diamond) piece. It is engraved "Ia B" on the first line for the University of Iowa's Beta chapter of Phi Delta Theta and "L. A. Birk" on the second. I found it in my Grandparents things after they passed on. I have no idea what connection they were to the Birk family as they are from around Galesburg, IL. If your related and interested, I'll send a picture.

Thanks,
Jennifer Ford

Chester Birk

I have an old oil painting of a little boy possibly early 1900's. He's sitting on a bench and has short pants on. It's quite large and on the back is written Chester Birk.
Not sure if it's the name of the person who is in the picture or the one that painted it. It's on a canvas and framed. I bought it at an auction in Columbia, PA. I would like to get this to someone who is in Chester's family. Any one interested?
recieved an obit for William Wright Triplett today and the had it posted. I also got Virginia (your mother?). I asked for Cora (Harriman)Triplett and am hoping to find out if Cora remarried William or just adopted the older children as according to the Calif death index she was the mother to all the children except for maybe Leroy as it doesn't show a mothers name on the index for him.

What research have you on the Triplett line? I am also researching them as Carl, Fay and Gerald had four older sibling probably adopted by Cora when she married William Wright Triplett. If you check the CDI and CBI it shows the older ones as having the same mother Cora Belle Harrymann(Harriman)from Kansas. After their marriage the children were all with William and Cora except Leroy who was too old. (Leroy was married to my great aunt Daisy A. Ingalls) and they lived in LaGrange.
