I have extensive information on the Birkleys and believe I too am related the above mentioned. The work was mostly done by others and may not be completely accurate. As you say it get muddy in places, lots of them around at that time.

My Ggrandfather was Thomas born in Felton in 1869. I traced 2 brothers to Australia.
Hello! I am indeed still researching that area, I would be happy to compare notes with you. Email me back and we'll start putting puzzle pieces together. I have traced my family back to Newburn/Ponteland/Etc., back to that time. Up UNTIL that area it's fairly clear (written in a family bible) but in that area it goes fuzzy. I'll contact my distant relative with the bible, and let's get cracking! -Doug Berkeley (three "E"s, long story, not the Southern Berkeleys)

This is an old post that I have come across so not sure if my reply will reach you!
I am looking into the Birkley family in Newburn at the moment - Dorothy Birkley married my 6xgreat-grandfather Robert Carnaby in Newburn. Her father was Joseph Birkley who also had a son called Cuthbert - I had noticed the group of late 1600s Birkleys you mentioned and I am trying to work out the relationships in the Birkley family.
Ryton and Newburn seem to have had quite a bit of cross-marrying - Ryton is just across the Tyne, probably less than a mile away.
Regards
Anne

Luke, Thomas, Cuthbert Birkley in Nortumberland

I have researched my history back to (probably, not confirmed) these individuals, and I'm wondering if anyone is connected with them at all. Luke, Thomas, and Cuthbert Birkley (Berkley?) were all from the Newburn, Ponteland, Stamfordham area in Northumberland, Northern England. The time period is from the late 1600s to the late 1700s. Ryton, Durham also keeps popping up in my searches as well.

W.I. Birkley, age 31 in 1920, Dallas, TX???

I am looking for information on this W.I. Birkley. He shot his first cousin, Samuel Earnest Riddle in the back in 1920 in Dallas, on Reed St.(heard it was over a woman). I am curious if anyone has the story. Samuel was a Grand-Uncle to me and W.I. was a distant cousin to me. *Thanks*
Gerald

This information came from the Keyes Family Bible. See my posting on the Keyes Board. The inside first page of the bible has handwritten "Charles E. and Elizabeth Keyes, Norwalk, Ohio, Nov 29th, 1855"
