Hello Aaron,
My name is Pam Rhodes, bevneen is the e.mail account. Cordellia Birks has fascinated me whilst I have been researching my ancestors. Is Birks an anglosised name? I ask this because Ihave been told that we have Spanish blood in our family. I was told by my mother that it was her gt.grandma who was Spanish. I have discovered her gt. grandma, Emily Stamp but she does not appear to be Spanish. She married Cordellia's son John. I am wondering if Cordellia is a Spanish name? and that the Spanish connection comes in from the other side - her gt. grandfather John. Cordellia married James Stamp in 1841.
They had 4 boys, John born 1843, Thomas H. 1849, George, 1853 and William 1841.In 1841 they lived in Daggar Lane, Hull and living with them was a spinster, age 60 and I cannot decipher her first name, but she was Birk which means she was connected to Cordellia's side of the family. My grandma was one of two daughter's from Emily, so Cordellia was my grandma's grandma. I have an old photograph my mum found in a drawer and my guesses are it is either Cordellia or Emily as it was taken in Hull and actually there is a striking resemblance to myself, bearing in mind this lady is a lot older than I am!! If you can shed any light on Cordellia or her parents I would be very grateful. I intend going through to Beverley soon where it would appear all records are kept.I need to see Parish records for this period of time and hopefully I will find Cordellia.
With Regards,
Pam Rhodes.
