I send a message that couldn't be delivered. I found a great goldmine for me. I found it on Ancestry.com. I subscribe to the Canadian part and found this area: Quebec Vital Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967. I found the parents of Catherine Biron as well as Moreau dit Desjordy, Raymond , Dansereau and so many others. It seems to be hand-written records of marriage bans, burial, and baptismal records. There are hundreds. I found these ancestors in Vercheres. This is a subscription site. I found Norbert Moreau father of Hormidas and M. Anne Dansereau, his wife, mother of Hormidas.

Hi Sara, I see you spell the name Byron. My G-G-Grandmother spelled it Biron on all her records. Francois Biron's wife was Marianne Cadotte. Your Peter Biron is burried in the old Catholic Cemetary in Garden River.
Joachim Biron (Harriette Thibeault)your and my relative, operated the first ferry service between the two Soo's on the St.Mary's River. My great uncle Leo Boissineau gave me medals that belonged to Joachim, they were medals awarded to his father Francois by the then King of France.(they are on permanent loan from me at the Sault Ste Marie Museum)Joachim and Harriette lived in the Soo on East Street Across from the museum(old post office)he and his wife owned the land from East and Queen straight down to the waterfront(Library)His family was highly respected and his service as witness to funerals, births and marriages was always in demand.Somewhere in all of my paperwork is a letter from Peter Biron to his sister (My G-G-Grandmother) Harriette (Biron) Boissineau. He was congratulating her son Peter Leo Boissineau (named after your Peter) on joining the volunteer Fire Dept. at the Soo. If i find it,I will send you a copy. (It's pretty clear to read and has his signature and the date he wrote it.( May 12,1886) Hope this info. helps a little.
Dave

Are there 2 couples named Francois Laroche & Adele Biron?

The Marie Adele Biron who is daughter of Jean-Baptiste Biron and Angele Moreau marries a Francois Laroche on 23 Jul 1856 in St.Christophe d’Arthabaska, Arthabaska, Quebec. This Marie Adele has a birth of 8 Mar 1838, and a baptism of 11 Mar 1838 in St. Louis Lotbiniere, Lotbiniere, Quebec.

This Francois Laroche had a previous wife named Sophie Hamel. I do not know his parents.

Oddly, I came across two Laroche baptisms in 1858 in the St.Christophe parish of the following named children:
1)Francois: bapt. 1 Apr: born 31 Mar 1858 to Francois Laroche & Adele Biron of this parish. Louis Fortiers and Luce Roberge are the godparents

2)Louis Phileas: bapt. 22 July: born “depuis deux jours” is that = 20 July 1858? to Francois-Xavier (farmer) & Adele Biron of this parish. Manasses Hamel and Elisa Bernier are the godparents.

The writing is clear, the 2nd is in sequence for this year (ie. the next entry is of 1858 also) and these are both baptisms such that they indicate births 4 months apart so it would look like there are two couples with this same name in the same parish? Which child goes with which couple? Or could the parent names been incorrectly entered in the register? (this is the microfilm of the register not a transcribed list). There were many other Laroche births and I didn’t have time to examine them to see if I could figure out the situation – wondering if someone already has.

Does anyone know of a like named marriage other than what I described above? Any clues are appreciated, I’d like to put these kids with the right parents. Thanks.
Patty

Hello All-
I am looking for the family of Philip (also spelled Phillippe) Biron. He was born in 1888 in Sherbrook, Quebec, Canada. His parents were Edmund and Philemene (Bouin) Biron. He was married to Annie Gauvin in New Hampshire and died 23 Dec 1961 in Georgetown, MA.

I believe the family immigrated from Canada to Mass (spending time in Amesbury and Lawrence) before moving to Exeter (?) NH.

I am having some problems locating them on the census, I believe I found them in Lawrence in 1900 but instead of Philomene it lists Blanche as the mother. I have no information about a 2nd marriage.

I am looking for any info anyone may have-

Thanks!!!

I am looking for parents or more ancestors for a Marie Biron who married Honore Lemay. I'm guessing they were probably born in Quebec Canada and probably 1850 or earlier. Children Malvina (b. 1871, St Olivier de Garthby, Wolfe County, Quebec. ), Adelaide, Albert, and maybe Willie? Not much to go on but thought I'd check if this sounds familiar to anyone.
Update: Marie Biron m. Honore Lemay

In the 1871 census Honore Lemay & Marie Biron show in Victoriaville, Arthabaska. Their oldest is Leda age (14?) followed by the other (older) siblings found in the 1881 census of Garthby, Wolfe. Leda is the one child that lists her parents as "Neree Lemay & Marie Clarisse Biron" on her marriage entry. Children Adelaide and Malvina list their parents as "Honore Lemay & Marie Biron" thus I didn't know for sure if this was one couple or two separate. I could not find an entry in a marriage index for "Honore Lemay & Marie Biron", only "Neree Lemay & Marie Clarisse Biron" m.7-23-1856 Arthabaska. Leda is married before 1881 and does not show in household with her parents; but with the 1871 census and her presence in the family it confirms that this is one couple. So now this Marie Clarisse Biron we know belongs in the family of Jean Baptiste Biron & Angele Moreau.

Does anyone have information on Marie Clarisse Biron's birth? A family member was told she was born in England and adopted in Canada. Thinking a baptismal record might indicate whether this information is accurate I'm wondering what that entry says? (Not to be confused with the Marie Clarisse Biron who is child of Modeste & Marguerite Desrochers)

Any descendants out there? Thanks.
Patty
I have no idea if this will help, but there are a number of Wilfrid/Wilfred Birons in the Woonsocket/Manville RI area around that period. I think it's probably a common name in the family, but certainly worth doing a search of the census records, to see if any of them are doctors.

I am, as a matter of fact, trying to trace the family of a Wilfrid who was born in 1900 (obviously not yours, but I think there was an uncle, at least, with the same name), and lived mainly in the Woonsocket area. His mother was my husband's grandmother's sister.

Happy hunting!
Mary

Hello,

I have found more ancestors and thought I would post the info here in case anyone is looking for it. For complete info, see my database on Ancestry titled "GREENWOOD". Marie Louise Stella Cyr's (AKA Stella Cyr) parents are Cyrille Emerand Cyr and Louise Josephine Biron, both from Sherbrooke, PQ. His parents are Joseph Prospert Cyr and Emelie Biron. Her parents are Michel Biron and Zoé Gendreau. I have a few more generations back on my database, but only the marriage dates are confirmed, I do not have info on birth or death yet. Will continue to update database as new info arrives and documents confirm dates and locations. Would love to hear from any "cousins".

Christine
