Hi, based on his obituary, it would not seem that there were any children except for the stepson on his second marriage. The 1900 census had the following
1900 US Census - 9th Ward, Los Angeles, California:
Bisbee, Walter R. 30 CA NY IN, married 1 year, motorman
Flora E.	19 PA PA PA, Mar 1881, married 1 year
Borat, Rose E.	24 PA PA PA, June 1876, single, sister-in-law, stenographer
He was married to Flora E. Borat in about 1899 based on this census information.

Charles, any other pieces of information that might be helpful. Like state where your parents lived? married or divorced. Timeframe we are looking at? estimated year of birth for your dad maybe based on you mother. anything you remember about him.. places, etc.. grandparents? There are about 86 Robert's living if he still is. The more pieces of clues might help narrow down maybe down to several that you can call.
Jerry

Scott, my information on Judge DeWitt Bisbee's line is as follows:
Elisha Besbeech b.~1616 England, m. Joana
John Bisbee b.~1647, Scituate, MA, m. Joanna Brooks
Deacon John Jr. b.1690, Scituate, MA, m. Mary Oldham
Deacon John III b. 1714, Pembroke, MA, m. Abiah Bonney
John IV b. 1750, Pembroke, MA, m. Janet
Ensign Charles b. 1785, Hubbardton, VT, m. Elizabeth
Judge DeWitt F., b.1819, Alabama, NY, m. Elizabeth Williams
DeWitt Williams, b. 1881, CA, m. Edna Fay Caywood
Elizabeth, b.~1912, CA

As you can see, his parents were not 1st generation Americans. His family came to America sometime before 1642 when Elisha Besbeech first shows up in the records of the Plymouth Colony. Early information on this family can be found in "Genealogy of the Bisbee Family," Frank J. Bisbee," Otter Book Press, 1956 (Available from the Bisbee Family Connection (contact Viola Drake, tel. 269-621-4641 or Dianne Homann, tel. 563-324-0240). Later information comes from the US Census. Hope this helps.

I find "Ace" Bisbee to be very interesting. As I recall, he came to America via Ireland and is one of the very few Bisby/Bisbees in America who apparently did not descend from Elisha Besbeech.of Scituate, Massachusetts. Asa's marriage to Abigail Luce is reflected in Michigan marriage records. I also have a few census extracts (1850, 1880, 1900). He also shows up on an 1892 voter registration list in Chicago. His three children are Clarissa, Martha and Elliot Hiram Bisbee. You probably already have this material, but if not, I will be happy to email the data along with the references.

Help replacing missing Bisbee GEDCOM

I did Bisbee research from 2000-2004 for my Bisbee cousins. They only wanted the story not the research. David Bisbee, their first cousin, has contacted me requesting copies of my research. Unfortunately, the CD that had my Bisbee GEDCOM on it proved to be blank. Did I send a GEDCOM to anyone on this list? If so, could you e-mail me a copy?
Thanks.

Charles was born 4-18-1866 in Wood Ct Ohio and died after 1920 as he is on the 1920 census in Cygnet Ohio. I have been unable to find a burial in Ohio and I wonder if this Charles could be him.
I'm not a descendant of Jep Bisbee, but I'm interested in him. I know he was born in 1843 and died in 1935 at Ludington. I'm a fiddler and dulcimer player, and I used to know a fellow who spelled him at a dance around 1921, before he became famous, after Ford's and Edison's visit. What is your interest? I have more information on him.

Paul Gifford

Jasper E. Bisbee (1843-1935), of Paris, Michigan, became well known following the visit of Henry Ford and Thomas A. Edison to his house in 1923 (while on their annual camping trip), so that Ford could hear some of the old dance tunes played by Bisbee. This led to Bisbee going to New Jersey to record six sides for Edison and to him playing for dances all over Michigan. It sounds like your news clipping refers to an event in 1930. He was the son of Alanson Bisbee; he was born in Ossian, Livingston Co., NY, and came in 1858 to Ionia Co., MI. Maybe he was related?

Paul Gifford
