Hi Abby,

I guess we're cousins. You are right, quite a bit has happened in the last six years and not all of it good. To answer your question, yes, my Mother (Mary Lou) is doing well. I talked to her about your message and she wouldn't mind being in touch either. Please email me at mary_b@bellsouth.net and I'll catch you up on this branch of the family tree. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Mary

OK, I'm 6 years too late and both Tony and my brother Bill Moran, who was not only his cousin but also his good friend, have died. But I just discovered this board that I apparently wrote on years ago. Jummy (Bernard) and I correspond and I'd like to hear from you too. Is Mary Lou (apparently your Mom) still around? She'd remember both Bill and I. She and my brother took me to see Fantasia when I was in 4th grade:). I'd really like to know what happened to that branch of the family.
thanks,
Abby Moran Robinson

Charles (Carl) Christian Bischoff - Braunschweig research help needed

Charles Bischoff emigrated from Braunschweig to Washington DC in 1872 at age 27, and became a tailor in Washington, DC. He married (1) Justina Voehl and had children Paul and Alma and (2) Elizabeth Stiebeling and had children Walter, Alma, Herman ("Buddy") and Anna. No other family emigrated. His father was Henry; his mother's name could perhaps be Alma based on his naming of two daughters by that name. He returned for visits to Braunschweig in 1875 and 1900. Any advice on how to research his family in Braunschweig would be most appreciated.

Then i lose track, some family say he got sent to a interne camp some say he got sent back to Germany. I have contacted the red cross several times but have had no reply. I know he was born in Berlin around 1867.

I don't think we are related, but I just thought you might find this funny...My maiden name was Shirley Bischoff, I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, and my father's name is Bernhard Bischoff. Also, I sell antiques, mostly glass and china, and sell Bischoff glass. My dad's family was from Madison, Wisconsin...three generations...Bernhard(my great, gr', gr. grandfather, then his son George, then his son Alvin, then the first names repeated..so my dad was a Bernhard again. Our family's original Bernhard Bischoff came from Prussia, early 1800's. We live in Mount Lebanon..south hills of Pittsburgh. In friendship, Shirley

Re: Fredrick Bischoff

Have you tried the 1880 census for Ottawa IL? or 1870? watch for ANY Bischoff family. If you know his religion, you might contact the Ottawa church of that demonination to see if he was baptized there, or that kind of church at a local town if there wasn't one during the 1870-80 time frame. The local church should be able to tell you what town had a church in 1870-80. Also, assuming he wasn't catholic, a lutheran might attend a Methodist church if it's the only one there because it's close. So you might check any church that was local in 1870-80.
I have seen a website somewhere that lists cemeteries where you can enter a surname to search for a possible burial of a Bischoff relative.
Also, Frederick might not be his first name... it might be John Frederick for instance.
My Bischoff family has Frederick among the names that they use. My great grandfather said he had 7 brothers, and they all went different directions (He ended up in Minnesota). I haven't been able to get names for all the brothers, so am interested in the parents of your Frederick as a possible brother to my August Bischoff!
I hope you are able to find his parents, and would love to hear back if you do. (beret.beatty at gmail.com)
Good Luck!
Beret Beatty

Yes, TY...but interestingly...it's only available AFTER I rejoined Ancestry a few days ago...lol

But, he has Johann Conrad marrying a Maria Kraus...or Krais.

The age would match my "Johann Conrad"...or "Conrad"..or "Conradt", who immigrated here in 1764...landing in PA, USA...but IF he brought wife...she was Anna Catharina, and 3 daughters.....the names of the men and women are so similar..

"conrads" on the men's side..."Anna catharine(a)s and "anna margaretha's" on the women's....im not ruling this out yet, though

Gustav-Hinrich Bischoff kaptain on german submarine U-2359

I am looking for survived crewmembers or ancestors of them on the German submarine type XXIII U-2359, that was sunk by British Mosqiuto-fighters on the 2. May 1945 in Kattegat, east of Laessoe(Læsø), Denmark, Scandinavia.

The U-boot has resently been located on deep water, and I am trying to find out wether the official reports, which declares all crewmembers dead, are true. According to the pilots, there were dinghies and survivors in the water. What I dont know for sure is if any of the crew made it to either the coast of Denmark or Sweden, or if they passed away in the cold water(RIP).

If you have any information either to confirm the official reports or to correct it, please let me know, and help solve the mystery about this unique submarine.

The crewmembers were

Gustav-Hinrich Bischoff 11.05.1916
Frohmut Goldschmidt 01.02.1922
Bernhard Bierwald 04.07.1923
Helmut schlecht 16.06.1924
Georg Däumling 07.08.1917
Dieter Deil 14.02.1924
Helmut-Kurt Fiebiger 19.04.1919
Günther Gerlach 17.09.1922
Georg Henslok 06.08.1916
Heinz Hiepe 03.12.1918
Horst Mielewczyk 10.08.1925
W.
Barbara Bischoff Theurer obit 1913

Casey Vindicator
Casey, Guthrie county, Iowa
June 20, 1913

Mrs. Barbara Theurer, nee Bischoff, was born in Baden, Germany, March 17, 1836. She came to this country in 1854, with her father, four brothers and a sister, all of whom preceded her into the Great Beyond.

She made her home in Chicago until her marriage to Mr. John Theurer, at Princeton, Illinois, December 25, 1856. Mr. and Mrs. Theurer located at Mendota, Illinois, residing there and in that vicinity for thirty-five years. From Illinois, they moved into Guthrie county, Iowa. Here they established themselves on a farm where they made their home continuously until the death of Mr. Theurer in 1909. This dispensation abrupted a relationship that had been maintained with singular devotion and mutual loyalty for fifty years.

Fourteen children crowned this union, nine of whom are living—three sons: John of Lockwood, Missouri, Charlie of Casey, Iowa, William of Wellington, Kansas—six daughters: Kate, Anna and Julia of Lohrville, Iowa; Gertrude of Lake City; Carrie of Casey, Iowa; Adaline of Caldwell, Idaho; and a step-daughter, Mrs. Jacob Croisant, of Casey, Iowa. All of these were present at the funeral except Adaline, resident as above noted, at Caldwell, Idaho.

Mrs. Theurer has been ill, suffering extensively during these long and weary months. Her release came at 10:30 p.m., Monday evening, June 9, 1913, when she passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Croisant, in the 78th year of her age. Funeral services were held at the Croisant home, Wednesday, June 11th, Rev. N. R. Miles of Lenox, Iowa, officiating. Interment in the Menlo cemetery.

The Vindicator tenders its earnest sympathy to the bereaved sons and daughters, mourning the loss of their venerable and beloved mother.
BISCHOFF, D. Bruce Was called to his eternal rest on Friday, November 2, 2007 at Riverside Hospital after a 10 day stay in the Intensive Care Unit. He was 81 years old. Bruce was a graduate from Brown High School in Kilbourne, Ohio and attended the Ohio State University where he had a special love for the Buckeyes. He had been the Owner/Operator of Sequoia Swim Club and was the swimming coach for many of the swimmers in the Northland Community. Bruce recently retired from Sequoia Timing where he traveled to swim meets to provide timing for the swimmers. He was lovingly called "Mr. B." One of his favorite activities was cooking and many people referred to him as the "Onion Man King". He loved to attend functions and provide the joy of his cooking to others. Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Cullins and father, Robert Bischoff; brothers, Robert and Jack Bischoff. Survived by his loving wife, Toni of 57 years; daughters, Becky (James) Bartholomew and Tina (Tonie) Lovin; sons, Bruce (Sharon) Bischoff and Paul (Ramona) Bischoff; grandchildren, Erin (Steve) Waite, Dan and Bryan Bartholomew, McKenzie (Colin) Bumgarner, Mason and Matthew Bischoff, Cory (Barbie) Elam, Jennifer (Joe) Bolton, Morgan Bischoff, Michaella Bischoff, Alexandria Trespasso; Josh Lovin; 6 great grandchildren, Skyler and Haley Elam, Madison and Hunter Bolton, Trinity and Myrrah Bischoff. He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of three more great grandchildren; he leaves his faithful and beloved dog, Hershey of 12 years. Bruce has touched the hearts of people all over the State of Ohio and beyond with his kind and warm embraces. He was never too busy to give a word of encouragement to someone in need. The family extends their sincere and prayerful thanks to the ICU staff at Riverside Hospital for their kind and special care during his illness and also his many friends who have prayed for his recovery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Thursday, November 8, 2007 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1500 Urban Drive. Father Mark Ghiloni Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-8 PM and Wednesday from 4-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where a prayer service will be held 4:30 PM on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Ohio State University Marching Band in memory of D. Bruce Bischoff or the American Diabetes Association.
Published in the Dayton Daily News on 11/5/2007.
Re: family heritage in GERMANY

Hello,
My husband's mother's maiden name was Anna Amanda Bischoff. She was born in 1919 in Waterloo, Iowa. We have her father as Arthur Bischoff about 1884 in Tennesee. We would greatly appreciate any information you may have. Anna Amanda Bischoff married Ralph Carl Kielpinski. They had three living daughters and three living sons. There are 18 living grandchildren, and at least 5 living great grandchildren. Anna grew up on a farm.

I have one German in my family tree, I will look him up. He fought for the British in the Revolutionary War and stayed and raised a family (Susan).

Thank you

Paul and Susan Kielpinski
creative52x52x@yahoo.com

Hello Catherine,

the city of Worms isn´t my area of family researching. If you don´t know the parents of your grandfather you should write to the registry office of Worms. Take a look to their homepage:

http://www.worms.de/deutsch/rathaus/buergerservice/standesam...

And there use "Anforderung einer Urkunde aus dem Geburtsbuch" (~ request for a birth document).

Or write to the resident´s registry office:

http://www.worms.de/deutsch/rathaus/buergerservice/sachgebie...

There you could get some informations about Katherine and Kurt.

In a case of questions you are welcome.

Sincerely,

Andreas Bischoff, Berlin-Germany

Peck, Bishop, Powell, Friend

These lines have a Bischoff/Bishop tie:

Hey Ya'll,
Here is my Mother's genealogy as far as I know so far. My GGGGgrandparents were George and Elizabeth Peck Bishop. I knew the parents of Elizabeth were Corad and Catherine Peck. I've recently learned that the father of Catherine was Israel Friend. Conrad Peck1 and Catherine Friend Peck were among some of the first settlers in Bedford County, PA. (now Fulton Co.). They had lost much, including children, to Indian attacks. They were some of the Founders of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church in 1752. Early Church members had to have Sentries posted at the doors in case of attack. Israel Friend is my GGGGGGgrandfather. My other GGGGGGgrandfather is the Rev. Joseph Powell, 1st. Pastor of Tonoloway Church from 1765 until his death in 1804. Rev. Joseph Powell and Rachel rose Powell were the parents of Mary, who married Jacob Bishop. They were the parents of George Bishop. Any of ya'll connected to my lines? John C. Bass,Sr. in S.E. Mississippi.
