Hi Jayne i think your family is probably the family i have heard of locally. My daughter works at St Nicholas Park Warwick and she told me of a Mr Bish that used to maintain some of the equipment there, could this be a relation of yours? I have sent a message to my uncle Alan as he and your dad would be first cousins I think.
As we are so close we could meet for coffee and i will bring copies of photos and certificates for you.
See you soon
Shirley

Hi Jayne, yes I can confirm that I am a relation, Frederick Bish was my grandfather. He and his Wife Edith had 3 children. Olive,Val(my mother)and Alan Bish. Alan is fit and well and living in Canada. I haven't done much with the family tree recently and I am out of the country (UK) until the end of March but when I get home I will send you copies of any info I have, I have copies of some birth and death certificates. Many of my side of the Bish family had Burton as a middle name which I think relates to them living in Burton near Nottingham. I live in Warwick and I think there is a Bish family that live close by but I havent managed to connect with them yet.

Hey all, was reading through page by page of Fred's survivor/Rev War pension papers. On one of the first pages, it states that Frederick was living in, ~wait for it~, Luzerne Co. PA-implying he moved to Virginia afterwards. Did anyone know this? It was news to me. We need to check marriage records there for his first wife. Oh, and I'm back!!

His father was a general labourer called George and he had died at the time he married a Harriet Clifford from Oxford in 1911. He then went on to marry Elizabeth Jones in 1922 at her death in 1928 she is registered as a widow, not sure if this is the case as on their marraige certificate he was registered as a bachelor.

My grandmother was Ida Mae Bish and my grandfather was John Alexander Beers. They lived in McDonald Pa , on Valley Street, until their deaths.I don't know the year of her birth but I can look it up. I know my grandfather was born on Dec 7, 1861. I do recall seeing, on line, an old newspaper report of their marriage. It was just a line or two in a social column. I'm sure she lived to be past 90.
I am looking for any information on Julius Bish (b-10/25/1876) and married Amelia Menzer (b-5/4/1878). I think that they were born in either Russia or Germany. I get conflicting information from family members. Julius' parents were Frederick Bish and Henrietta Bokholz. Amelia's parents were Krystain Menzer and Carolina Berger. According to Amelia's death notice, her left the USA and returned to Russia to care for a sick aunt and returned to the USA in 1905. Any information would be appreciated.

I believe that after john died, Margaret married Solomon Stahlman. In the 1870 Census of Pa, Jefferson Co. Oliver Twp. There was Solomon Stahlman, with Margaret B. and Eliza M Bish. Eliza was 10 in 1870. Margaret had 2 children at that time to Solomon. Maybe he didn't want Eliza and thats why she was put in the orphanage. John B. was my great Uncle his parents were my great great grandparents. I never found her after that. Do you know what home she was in? That might help to find her. Please keep in touch with me.

Unfortunately, those of us who research the Western PA Bish family have no proof that this information is accurate at this time. The info originally came from an extremely unreliable source, and could not be verified.

We do know that the parents of the five Bish brothers that came to Armstrong and Clarion Co., PA around 1808 are Adam and Elizabeth Catherine (Unknown) Bish. We know they spoke German, and that Adam died in Dec of 1790. This is verified by court records from York Co., PA.

There is absolutely NO proof that Adam's parents were Sebastian and Anna Barbara (Kinder) Bish or that Elizabeth Catherine's maiden name was Lohr.

The info I have is that Adam Bish was born in 1736 (I think)in Blackenloch, Germany and died in Dec 1790 in Germany, York, PA. His parents were Sebastion Bish and Anna Barbara Kinder both born presumably born in Germany. Adam married Elizabeth Catherine Lohr. I don't have accurate dates for her. Hope this helps.

My name is David Bish, I live in North Queensland, Australia. I am not sure where our genealogies will meet up. What year was your grandfather born? Do you know any of the names of his sisters, who he was married to. I have a fairly comprehensive family tree going back to Johes (John) de la Bysshe - 1226.

If I can get a little more info I might be able to connect the dots. Any info you have would be great, though I understand that only so much info can be typed out in an email.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

David Bish

William H. Bish was born circa April 1854 in Paint Twp., Clarion Co., PA. He was the son of:

David Bish and Margaret Kelly. David Bish was born circa 1820 in Clarion Co., PA and he was the son of:

George Bish and his first wife Julian Holz of Clarion Co., PA. George Bish was born circa 1784 in York County, PA, and he was the son of:

Adam Bish and Elizabeth Catherine (Unknown maiden name). And that's as far back as we have gotten with the Bish family of Western Pennsylvania. Not sure of the date when Adam Bish was born but he died in 1790.

I am Carl's great-granddaughter. My maternal grandmother was Donna Marie Bish Moellman. She was Carl and Marie's youngest daughter. Carl would've been young in 1907 and I believe I remember hearing stories of him working for the railroad for a short time. If there is anything else you need to know please let me know.
