Teresa,

My wife and I run the www.bishir.org website. We got most of our information on Jeremiah's line from Lori Myers and the Gillam book (by way of Rob Bishir in Momence, Illinois.) We had your Great Grandfather as son of Jeremiah directly through his second wife, Malinda Gillam (not a son of Miles). We'd be very interested in exchanging emails with you off the list to learn more about your family so we can fill in some gaps in our understanding of your branch. Please send me an email at worth@ucla.edu.
I read this history with interest, as you have Susannah HART as the daughter of Joel Hart. Many people have Susannah as the daughter of Joels brother, Andrew Miles & Abigail Smith......hmmmmm. I wonder which one is true? Where did the historical article come from, and when written? Thanks so much, researching the HARTS of which there is an incredible amount of conflicting data, since they were a large clan and a lot of the same names used in each family. John

Re: From Highland County, OH

I am wondering if you have found any evidence linking Jeremiah Bishir of White Co. IN with the Highland Co. OH Bishir's? Jeremiah was born in 13 Jun 1800 in York Co PA (his obit says so, no primary evidence on that yet). Jeremiah married Esther Millet in WArren Co. OH in 1827. Their son, Miles was born in Highland Co. OH in early 1830, by Mid 1830 they were in Tippecanoe Co. IN in sheffield twp. 1840 in Union twp white Co, where he resided until his death. A newspaper article says he drove his cattle to Pittsburgh, which always baffled me, since white co. is so very much closer to Chicago than Pittsburgh. BUT if his family was residing in Highland Co, then it may make a little more sense. I honestly believe that Jeremiah is a son of Jacob, the pioneer of Highland Co. Jeremiah was a cooper, knew how to make bricks and graft trees. Multi talented. Bit of a character, well known in the court system. Thanks.
Jeremaih Bisher/Victoria Worthington

Does anyone out there know what happened to Jeremiah Jr. (son of Jeremiah Bisher and Esther Millett) and his wife Victoria Worthington and children? I have lost them after the 1880 Census in Carroll Co. IN. Their children were Ellen V, Samuel and Joseph (the ones that I know of anyway).
I am also searching for Christopher Bisher (Same parents I believe, but may have Malinda Gillam as a mother instead of Esther Millett). I believe he ended up out in Reno Co., KS.

I have copied the newspaper account of McDonald Lowry's buggy accident and death. Also a couple of obits (Jeremiah the elder, George and James. Would love to get all our stuff together and get a book published. Anyone interested?

There is a book about Eli Gillam and Emily Bishir/er, done by a Weaver descendent, I believe. Does anyone know where to get a copy? There are some wonderful pictures of Bishir descendents in there. It covers the Gillam, Bisher, and Weaver families.

Jeremiah Bishir

Jeremiah Bishir is found in the Tippicanoe co IN 1830 census. His first wife was Esther Millet, dau of JOhn and Mary (Moore)Millet of Darke Co. OH. Supposedly they were married in Warren Co OH in 1827, but I have no proof of that. Miles, the first born was born in Highland Co in Jun of 1830, that is according to his death report at Jasper Co., IN. Jeremiah and Esther had the following children: Miles, Emily, Isiah, Jeremiah, Malinda, Mary, Christopher. Esther died between 1843-1845. Jeremiah (the elder) married Malinda Gillam, Dau of John M. and Mary (Henderson) Gillam. they had the following children: Hannah, Sarah, William, Maria, Malinda, Ramsey, Mary, Eli, Lavina, and Elizabeth. That makes 17 known children. There were probably others that died in infancy, and are unknown today. Jeremiah's first son, Miles, married his step-mother's sister, Lavina. I truley think this line ties in with the Highland Co. Bishirs, the time frame is right for Jeremiah to be Christopher's son, but as of yet, have no proof whatsoever, just a gut feeling. I descend from Miles. The first Jeremiah was my gggg grandfather. My e-mail is VF1S@msn.com if you would like to share info. Jeremiah's son, Jeremiah, married a Victoria (Victory) Worthington. I have a few children for them, and Emily married a Gillam, another son of JOhn and Mary.
Chances are if you are a Bishir that descends from an IN Bishir, we are related. My gggg grandfather was Jeremiah, b. 1800 in PA. HIs son, Miles was born 1830 in Highland Co., OH. Jeremiah had 3 wives, children by 2 of them, Esther Millet, and Malinda Gillam. If any of these names sound familiar, would love to share info.

Bishirs-Highland Cty Ohio

I have Bishirs in my family tree. My 2nd ggm was a Bishir, Mary, she was called Belle. She died in the 30's. I have pictures of her. She had a sister Lestie that married Chester Cochran, they had a daughter Hope. Her Bishir ancestors go way back in Highland Cty. Her father was William Sherman Bishir, son of Andrew (m. to Piety Ann Turner), son of Jacob, born Highland Cty, 1796.

I am guessing from research on other branches of my family, that they were German from Pennsylvania and Virginia. Many folks moved to Ohio based on land grants from the government as payment for service in Revolutionary War and War of 1812.

Happy to share whatever I have.

Would be interested in seeing what you have from Indiana - we are totally stuck on our Beishiers (0ld spelling) Beisher (newer spelling) According to my grandfather - Beishiers came from Alsace-Lorianne (altered between French and German rule over the centuries) To me, Beishier sounds French, however, their first names are all German sounding. I checked out information from Higland County but no good leads, cannot trace our Simeon Beishier (1818) back to Ohio where he was supposedly born according to death certificate(not very detailed) and census records. No siblings nor parents. Sons were Jacob, William, Henry, Isala (male or female) Benjamin Hampton Beishier, and John Louis Beishier. They had a daughter - Mary Beishier Wynn. All children except Jacob were born in Missouri - Jacob is born In Pennsylvania 1853. in 1860 family shows up on Missouri census. I would be interested in a list of names, and dates
(Only is you have the time!!!!!)
Thanks for your help - we are stuck, stuck , stuck ,
Diane Varela
e-mail jv1947@aol.com

I IMAGINE SOME HAVE MIGRATED TO OTHER STATES THIS WAS BACK IN THE 1850-1865 . I'M FINDING RECORDS OF BISHIR'S IN OHIO, CALIF. PENNSYVANIA.FELL THAT THEY PROBABLY ARE RELATIVES IN SOME WAY.

Looking for information on Jacob Simeon Beishier. Born in Ohio in 1818. Died in St. Louis 1882. Wife's name was Sarah Woodruff who was born in either CT or NJ. We found some Beisher(s) in Berks County and Bucks County PA (but have not looked at census yet - probably will not give names of children) Jacob Beishier - son of Simoeon and Sarah was born in PA in 1853. The first time they show up in Missouri is around 1870/ Had many children One name that shows up a lot is Jacob and Hampton is also used as first and middle names. Can anyone offer assistance.? Thanks. I have looked at the Bishers from Highland County but cannot come up with any connection at all. They were all butchers by trade. One other familytrait - red hair that turns white at a young age - short and stocky - some of them lived well into their 80's -
