I am also related through Thomas John Bishop. My mother is the daughter of George Washington Bishop.His family migrated from Ky to Illinois. These decendants of elizabeth barber and thomas bishop are buried in oakridge cemetary in effingham,il. Great grandfather Lewis Bishop and his son George Washington bishop and his daughters Marie Fritcher nee(bishop) and Alice Smith nee(bishop) are buried there as well. DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of seven soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died Oct. 26 of wounds suffered when the MH-47 helicopter they were aboard crashed in Darreh-ye Bum, Afghanistan.

Also killed were two soldiers assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.:

Alice Bishop was the daughter of James M. Bishop 1837-1915 and Catherine Bonds 1846-1912. They are buried in Sandy Creek Cemetery, Holmes County, Florida.

I am hoping that you see this post and respond. My post of Dec 2004 gave the research I had turned up up to that point. I also note that in the 1920 Census for Passaic County, New Jersey, Caroline was living with her daughter and son in-law Charles Latta. In that census she lists her father as being born in England. Perhaps your Charles was not born in Wisconsin but England and after the War of 1812 removed to New Jersey. I believe, at any rate, that your ancestor Mary Bishop was my Caroline Bishop's sister. In the 1850 Census for West Milford Township, Passaic County, New Jersey census, Charles Bishop and Mary (Kimble?) Bishop have 11 children. Please respond because I think we are related.

I just saw your message. DeWitt Clinton and Elizabeth Bishop were my gg grandparents. As far as I know, they didn't have a son named Peter. Elizabeth and her two youngest children died about 1852 in the Platte County area or in St. Joseph, perhaps. DeWitt left Missouri and remarried. He died in 1901 in Boone County, Illinois. Between 1850 and 1901, he'd resided in: Jo Daviess County, IL (1860), and then Boone County, IL from about 1863 on.

William Kincaid and Frances B Bishop married 15 Sep 1853 in Orange Co Indiana by D.S. Lewis MG

They had two sons, Robert Alexander Kincaid, born 23 Sep 1854, and James Edward Kincaid, born 3 Nov 1856.
Frances died 3 Oct 1857.

William Kincaid and Hannah Padgett married 15 Mar 1860 in Orange Co Indiana by Thomas Trimble. In Presence of Jane Bishop, Cordelia Kincaid Signed Thomas Trimble.

They had one son, John J.C. Kincaid, born 18 Jan 1861.[John Jacob Crittendon Kincaid]

William Kincaid was a Private in Co. A, 66th Regiment of Indiana Volunteer Infantry commanded by Captain Archibald Baxter. He entered the Army 3 Aug 1862. died 4 Feb 1864 at Pulaski, Tennessee.

Hannah married William C Prince 4 Dec 1866 in Washington Co., Indiana.

Hannah married Joseph Ray 11 Dec 1868 in Indiana, divorced Mar 1908.

Hannah died 15 Mar 1909.

John Kincaid and Collie Welch were united in Holy Matrimony 15 Dec 1881.
A J Welch and Celia Kincaid were united in Holy Matrimony 26 Sep 1906.
Ray T Jolliffe and Olive S Kincaid were united in Holy Matrimony 7 Apr 1912.
A M Brasher and Celia Welch were united in Holy Matrimony 7 Oct 1912.

I am looking for the Bishop family related to Frank Bishop (born 1860 in Ohio) and Julia Bell Smith (wife - born 1872 in Ohio). My mother says that the family has ties to colonial America circa 1640 Virginia, but the family bible is missing and everyone died before my mother or I could ask about family history. Frank & Julia were married around 1901 and lived in Northern IN for a time before moving to Chicago between 1910 and 1920.

Hi, my Great Grandfather who was Elihu Bishop, born in Morgan Co., Ky had my Granfather John Sheridan Bishop born in Lawrence Co, Ohio. They are on the 1880 census in Lawrence Co.Ohio. Elihu Bishop married Hannah Martin in Lawrence Co., Ohio. I believe that Elihu had a brother who married a sister of Hannah Martin. I have the info. I'm trying to find more details of a family headed by F Warner BISHOP who I can see in New York NY in 1920. He's with his wife Dorrette, daughter Dorathy, and his parents John J BISHOP/Eliza Bell BISHOP.

Dorrette (or Darrette) had the maiden name of HOARE. She was born in 1890 in New Jersey to an English mother and Welsh father.

I have Dorrette's ancestry going back over several generations in England.

I sm also a direct descendant of John Bishop. I have visited Cattistock and my name is listed as such on the list accompanying the plaque posted in the church by Mary Crowley (Home Interiors). I have a genealogy of my line created by Thomas Bishop many years ago. I would love to hear from other John Bishop descendants.

Hi Margaret,

Someone suggested to me that my line may go to Captain John Bishop. I have my doubts. I can trace my line to Wilkes Co., NC but I'm having trouble there. There are multiples of people with the same name and it's driving me crazy. I believe my line goes to Roger Bishop and Avis Jenkins/Genkins who came from Maryland but I can't make the final links. Where Roger (brother Frank?...can't remember 'cause I don't have the info in front of me) came from before Maryland, I don't know. Anyway, I can definitely trace my line to Lindsey Bishop (there were three Lindsey's), son was Sylvester Monroe Bishop. I believe Lindsey's father was Abraham or Abram. There my link starts getting shaky. Do any of these names should familiar?

This is my line. Jacob Bishop who was born in Germany, died in Hagerstown, MD. His son Jacob was in Bedford/Fulton County, PA. The second Jacob married Mary Powell, daughter of The Rev. Joseph Powell. Jacob Bishop Sr. changed his name from Bischoff to Bishop when he came to this country.
