My mother's maiden name is Bissette. We are trying to find the country of origin of the Bissettes.
My Grandfather was from Ireland, and I was told (30 years ago) that the Bissettes were descended from mercenaries from the Spanish Armada, who were shipwrecked off the Irish coast. However, it was unclear as to whether they were French or Italian.
Can anyone help?
