I am the daughter from the first marriage of a Glenn Bitting, who died in the Philippines. I have been able to gather some information on my father through the help and memory of my brother,Thurman Leo Bitting and my own searches in association with http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bitting/. I would be interested in any information or jpegs of my father and his family, immediate or distant.
I don't quite remember what my father looks like, though my mum was able to maintain a scant few pictures. They were faded and distant, like looking at someone I could know if I squint my eyes. I'm an adult now, nearing 40 and as I grow closer to the end of this chapter of my life, I feel I need to have a better connection to my father. One who died before I was able to do so on my own. I don't expect to find his life story scattered somewhere along this web or these forums. I'm just interested in a photo, a jpeg, what his favorite book or music might habe been.. I know I have other siblings out there and sometime in the future I may wish to meet them, but right now I'm just interested in any sort of tibbit on what my father was like or who he might have been.
I'd like more than a chilldhood memory, something more I could remember my father on and share with those in my life who want to know about me and my family.
The only memory that stands out in my mind is sitting on his workbench, at the age of two or maybe three, as he tried, "Tried" to fix something and the entire room smelling of sawdust and gasoline... and his laugh, not particularly hearty but comforting echoed inside the room...
I'm interested in obtaining any sort of visual information or just simple stories of my father. I am open to emailing other relatives and siblings in the future, but at this time I want to explore a connection with my father, myself and his history.
