PHOTO: Earl and Nellie Biven, children of Theodore and Ida Biven of Polk Cty, MO

I recently purchased an adorable cabinet card photo identified as Earl and Nellie Biven. The photo was taken by Anderson of Springfield, IL. I believe that these are the children of Ida and Theodore Biven who lived in Marion, Polk Cty, IL in the 1920 Census. Theodore was a farmer. There is also an older sister named Lula. Atlas W. Burleson boards with the family and is a farm laborer.

I am not related, but I would like to connect this photo with a family member or family researcher. The photo was purchased in Litchfield, IL.

I found a marriage for a Nellie Biven and Paul R. Dougherty on 11 June 1916 in Polk County, MO.

Please contact me if you have an interest in this photo.

Kathy@FamilyWeSearch.com

I have further information on my James H. Biven. There is a daughter from a previous marraige in his home in the 1880 census and her name is shown as Sarah E. Biven. There is a record of a James Biven of the correct age marrying a Nancy Hickle (their family is in the 1860 census record). In 1859 they were married and in 1861 they had a daughter, Sarah E. Biven. On the marraige documents for James and Sarah, Benjamin Biven is shown as giving the money for the marraige bond. This is the same Benjamin, brother to Charles and Henry Biven, sons to James Hoye Biven.

James Henry Biven

My ggrandfathers cemetery card and death certificate say that he was the son of James Henry(H. on the cert.) Biven and that his mother was Permalia Jane Bane (she's the daughter of George Bane of Lewis Co.). James and Permalia's marriage documents say that James was on his second marriage when he married Permalia (or Permelia or Amelia). The 1880 census shows their last name incorrectly as "Bivans". It also shows a daughter of 19yrs old who would have to be from James' first marriage. I have not been able to find his parents (James'). I know that Charles (Benjamin's twin and Henry's brother; sons of James Hoy Biven) had a son who's name appears to be James T. Biven. I also know that Charles and his wife died in 1855 which would leave James T. as an orphan at the age of 15yrs old. I'm thinking that Henry may have taken in some or all of Charles' children at his death. James T. Biven may have adopted the middle name Henry after his uncle. THis is conjecture but, it is all I have to go on right now. Can someone review closely the will document for James Hoy Biven which names Charles as an heir (one of them) and says that if something happens to Charles the goods Charles was to get would pass to his (James') grandson. What is the name of the grandson on that will that inherits Charles property if CHarles is deceased. My James and his wife and one of their children (Laura) are buried in the Mount Tabor cemetery near Ribolt. I am a decendant of James Henry Biven's son, George Lewis Biven. One of his daughters married a William Kaufman and one a Oran McNutt. His son Alvin Benjamin Biven has many descendants and they use the name Bivens.

I am looking for connections to parents of James Henry Biven (m. 1868 to Permalia Jane Bane) of Lewis County Kentucky. They had children; Sarah E., George L., Anna, Matilda, Laura and Alvin Benjamin Biven (1880 census). We have located George's (my family), Anna's, Matilda's and Alvin's families. Laura died as a child. Sarah E. Biven is missing. Information on her family?

Vicki,

Sorry but my Henry's patrents were James Hoy Beaven and Cassandra Dorsey. The children changed their name to Biven-without an "s". One of his sons used the name Evans. Good luck-- I couldn't find anything of value for you in my data base.

Wayne-SAAWA@aol.com
