Hi Dickie! It's your cousin Mindy Rae Bivin, our Leon Bivin was born Leonidus (sp?) Andrew Bivin b 1904 in Granby MO. Before AZ he lived in Mo & OK, don't think he lived in Tennessee BUT his grandmother's name was Julia Ann "Tennessee" Roe, I am still researching. I will send you a lot of info I have on our ancestors, and I do have a lot! Love you!

Robert, you might contact this person,
Kay Johnston lakehouse1952@att.net . I had never heard of Payton till a few weeks ago..
This is what she wrote me, don't know if you you know her.
WHAT I HAVE IS THIS......PAYTON/PEYTON WAS BORN IN MISSOURI IN JAN. 1856. HE MARRIED IZORA JOHNSTON(MY HUSBANDS GREAT AUNT) IN TEXAS. IZORA WAS BORN ABT. 1863 IN TEXAS TO MICHAEL DAVID JOHNSTON AND PARALEE ALABAMA MCMAHAN. PAYTON AND IZORA HAD THREE SONS, JAMES L BORN JUNE 1887, ROBERT C BORN DEC 1888 AND THOMAS E BORN OCT 1894. ON THE 1900 INDIAN TERRITORY, CHOCTAW NATION, CENSUS THE THREE BOYS ARE LIVING WITH THEIR GRANDPARENTS, MICHAEL AND PARALEE JOHNSTON. THE YOUNGEST SON THOMAS E WAS BORN IN INDIAN TERRITORY, SO MY ASSUMPTION IS THEIR MOM, IZORA HAD DIED (ICANNOT FIND ANY INFO ON THAT)/ THE FATHER, PAYTON WAS LIVING IN INDIAN TERRITORY AND WORKING AS A BLACKSMITH. PAYTON DIED IN MCCURTAIN COUNTY OK IN 1920 AND IS BURIED IN WATERHOLE CEMETARY/ I AM TRYING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE 3 BIVIN BOYS, AND HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH OTHER BIVIN FAMILY. MY MAIN INTEREST IS IN IZORA JOHNSTON, FAMILY LORE TELLS US HER MOM PARALEE WAS FULL BLOOD CHOCTAW.....BUT I CANNOT PROVE THAT/. HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE, AND ANY INFO YOU HAVE WOULD BE SO APPRECIATED. BYE FOR NOW, KAY JOHNSTON
Hope this is some help.
Jan Bivins

Death of Catherine Bivins -- 1888

Taken from the Cherokee Advocate, Oklahoma, 5 September 1888

Bivind - On August 11, after a protracted illness of consumption, Catherine, wife of W. L. Bivins, on Double Creek, Bartlesville charge, Indian Mission, aged forty-nine years.

Sister Bivins was a Cherokee, and joined the M. E. Church in the summer of 1886, under the pastorate care of Rev. J. Faulk, who also conducted the funeral services. She lived a consistent Christian life, and tried to give a shout of victory while crossing the river, but was unable to speak aloud. On the night previous to her death, she overheard friends speaking about watchers, when she told them that they need not trouble themselves about that, as she would be in heaven before they were needed. he leaves three children to the care of a bereaved husband.

J.
