Dear all,
I was wondering if some of this rings a bell to anyone:
- Rachel Blackie married John Macdonald, 15 May 1795, Saint Cuthberts church, Edinburgh. She was the daughter of one William Blackie.
- The couple was already living in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1837, when they gave birth to Rachel (same name as the mother), my fourth-grandmother. They later moved to the city of Porto.
I am aware, of course, of the several Scottish genealogy resources online, which I haven't yet properly explored.
Nevertheless, does the name William Blackie (I know it's a long shot), 18th century, calls anyone's attention? Are these Blackie from Edinburgh, or from some place else in Scotland?
Thank you for your help.
Much obliged,
João (Blackie) Macdonald
