I am trying to find a Walter J.Blackie that married a Lillian F.Pohlman Ackley.He had two stepdaughters named
Lillian Rosina and Ruth Ackley.In the 1930 census they are living in Salinas,Monterey,California.
These two girls are my cousins and I would like to find any desentands to them and where they went to.

Hi there i am looking into my family history.
I am looking for the parents of William Blackie.
William Blackie was born on April 9th 1920 in Edinburgh and died May 3rd 1967. I have his birth certificate and his mother his called Agnes Jane Bolton Blackie and the father is unknown. William married Olimbia Pacitti on December 31st 1947.

Any information about the surname Blackie would be very helpful especially if any of this is familiar to you.

Researching Charles Blackie (widower of Susan Taylor probably) who married Helen/Ellen Sutherland 9 Jan 1858, New Annan, Colchester, Nova Scotia. I am his ggg-grandaughter. Charles had 3 sons and a daughter by Susan Taylor. Only known names are Alexander (b.1846) and Bessie (b 1856). He had six additional children with Helen: David, George, Susan Elvira (b 1862) my line, Charles, Annie and Margaret (b May 1870). Charles died between Sept 1869 and the 1871 census date. Does anyone know where Charles was from or who his parents were? Big brick wall for me. ANy help would be appreciated!

My G Grandmother was an Ellen Blackie b1870 died 1952 in London, her father was Frederick Blackie b c1837 may have been in forfar he married Sarah Tyler in 1875 in London his father was a John Blackie who was a Ropemaker he may have married a Susannah ?? but I am not sure of that I have been unable to find any definate information for him anyone got any info or ideas?

Looking for info on Davidson Nicoll Blackie who was born in Brechin, Angus in 1813 and married Margaret Fyffe in Dundee in 1844. They had one child Allan in 1845 and Margaret died shortly thereafter. Davidson then married Margaret Pendrich in 1846 in Liff Benvie and Invergowrie, Angus. They had 2 sons both named William.

The only child I know anything of is Elizabeth b 1846. She married James Greig in Aberdeen in 1866.

Searching for George and Frank Blackie, brothers of Isabella Blackie Paton in Alameda or Monterey County.
Isabella was born 1826 in Kelso, Roxburgshire, Scotland so I imagine the brothers were too. She came to Connecticut in 1851 moved to Canada and to California in 1898.

I've just begun searching this family. Margaret Blackie married my ancester William F. Brooks in Boston in 1878. She was born in Nova Scotia, as were her parents James Blackie (b. abt. 1828)& Mary ? (b. abt. 1836) . I've found them listed in the 1870 census in Danvers MA with the following children: Margaret (15), Louisa (14), Florence (9), Charles (7), and Lovina? (4). I cannot seem to find any of them after the 1870 census.

ANY INFORMATION ABOUT JAMES CHARLES GORDON: The following informatin is all I was given by my mother, and may not be correct, but is all I have to go on: James Charles Gordon, born in Texas of Canadian parents. His father was Swedish, his mohter French from Alsace-Lorraine. Emigrated to Canada turn of century. My birth certificate says he was born in Texas about 1911. May have served in American or Canadian army in North Africa in WWII. Came to California in late 1940's . Worked in Souther California area through 1950's as engineer. May have worked at Port Hueneme Naval base as a civilian engineer. Supposedly died when I was 6 months old in 1955 from cancer in the Long Beach VA hospital. REcords lost in military records fire in 1960's. 6 feet tall. blonde. May have been married before, with older daughter. Supposedly Roman Catholic, whose parents did not recognize his second marriage to my mother or my birth.

I am trying to research my branch of the Blackies . I haven't been able to come up with too much so far (being in Canada), but this is what I've got for now: Robert Blackie (~1818) married a Jane/Janet Dickson/Dixon (~1820), both in East Lothian, Scotland. They had a James Blackie (b. ~ Oct. 1842), born in Edinburgh, who married a Mary (I think last name Leckie), also of Edinburgh. James and Mary had 3 children: Jemima (1880), James (~1885) and Thomas (1887), the last 2 boys having been born in the Dalziel/Motherwell area. The aforementioned Thomas (1887) married a Margaret Bryson in Motherwell around 1915 and had two boys, James (1916) and Thomas Jr.(1918), both also born in Motherwell. Thomas Jr. is my grandfather and remained in Motherwell until he, my grandmother and my father moved to Canada in 1952. I apologize for the length of this message, but I would be most appreciative if anyone with a possible connection would contact me. Thank you!

Alexander Blackie b abt 1819 married Catherine Bett White b Aug 9 1824 in Coupar Angus, Forfar. They married in 1853 in Dundee. Their children were James William, Jane Ross, Alexander b 1858, Mary and David.
Alexander Blackie b 1858 married Catherine Mackenzie Clarke and they immigrated to the US where their children Alexander, Aimee Moira and David were born.

Hi,
My name is Anne Butler and I am the great-granddaughter of Wilmot Blackie. I want to know if there is anyone out there who can give me more information about him. All I know is that he emigrated from Scotland and he settled in Spring bay Ontario (I think) where my grandfather Ernest was born. Oh...one more thing about my grandpa..He served in WWII and recieved the Soldier's medal. Unforunately, he died last August and never told us why he got it. We (my family) think he may have helped liberate the concentration camps so that's why he never talked about it. Is there anyone who knows anything? Thanks.

Two Blackie Families from Scotland

It seems that my family is related to two separate Blackie families from Scotland.

The first Blackie family was involved in the publishing business having formed the company Blackie Sons. There is a brief description of this family at the bottom of the following webpage:

I believe that I am also related to Gilbert Blackie (bap. June 9, 1834 in Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire, Scotland - the son of William Blackie and Janet Ogilvie)who married Ann Gardner in 1858 in Houston Killallan, Refrewshire, Scotland.

I cannot find any connection between these two Blackie families. I would be interested in hearing from anyone researching either of these two lines.
