Lydia Thornton, daughter of James Thornton and Lydia Colvin, m. David Blackmar, 20 Oct 1763, Scituate, Providence Co., RI. Lydia d. 16 Jun 1767; David d. 27 Sep 1787, supposedly marrying twice more before he died. Both were buried in the David Blarkmar Lot, Scituate [graves removed to new Rockland Cemetery, Clayville, Providence Co., RI, when Scituate Reservoir constructed in late 1910s-early 1920s].

Two Blackmar children are at least mentioned in James Thornton's will of 4 Nov 1768: "I do not give and bequeath any thing to my Two Grand Children namely James Blackmar and Lucretia Blackmar they haveing received their part . . . ."

While it's known that Lucretia Blackmar [d. 21 Oct 1830, Scituate] m. Daniel Young [d. 19 Jun 1842], the only documented info I can find on her brother, James, is his death date [08 Mar 1817, bur. David Blackmar lot, Scituate]. An assumption, based on early censuses [below], is that James probably married a gal named Abigail [?] and had two children, a son named Ira and a daughter who died young.

Can anyone confirm or disprove this assumption? Any additional data on this James Blackmar would be appreciated.
