I just noticed this old post. I show Ira Blackmar as the son of Amaziah. Ira married Elizabeth Stone Randall and died in 1889. His death registration shows his parents as Amaziah Blackmar and Candace Simmons.
Phil

My great-grandmother was Minnie Izora Harris Post (married Herbert Andrew Post), sister to Leslie. They are the children of Charles Lysander Harris and Luverba Mae Leak. Leslie was the only boy (I know of). Their sisters were Linna Lilla "Linnie", Livett Maud (went by Maud), Millie May, Ada Luella ("Ella") - sister E. Media died at 1 year of age. My gr-grandma Minnie died at 30 years of age - Millie died at 40. I have a photo of the girls, 1 of Leslie, a couple of photos of a family gathering, a few of Minnie and a couple of Ella.

I also have a copy of Charles and Verby's divorce. Charles went on to marry Mary Elizabeth Swift Adcock and they had 1 daughter, Susan. There may have been a daughter named Lizzie but I have never seen it proven.
Verby married 2 other times after she and Charles divorced - I have a couple of photos of her. I have Charles and Verby's ancestry back for quite a ways.

I have no photos of Charles or of Elizabeth Swift - only the 1 of Leslie. Hoping maybe you have Harris family photos or info to add.

Debra Hayes Brodbeck

Hi Annie,
I have access to a number of genealogy sites and I am more than willing to look into Candace Simmons for you. I have information indicating that her surname may have actually been Seamans not Simmons (I too have her listed as Simmons) misspellings were VERY commonplace in the older records. I need to know if you really would like information. If so, I would prefer to send this information directly to you via email since it is far easier.

Please let me know. If you are sincerely interested please email me at my direct email address: suzisuzuki@earthlink.net

My name is Beverly Joan (Peterson) Sawyer
My mother is Margaret Mona (Blackmer) Peterson
I don't know if this will be seen again, but I would be interested in the photos you have of the graves. I too have photos of my families oldest line of Blackmar(more) ancestors. They are James Blackmar & Mary Hawkins and they are both buried in the Roger Williams Family Cemetery, located in Roger Williams Park, Providence, RI. Roger Williams was the founder of Providence, RI and two of James & Mary's daughters married 2 of Rogers grandsons. They too are buried in the Williams Family Cemetery. I may be contacted via email: suzisuzuki@earthlink.net

Can you tell me what your source for this information regarding William Blackmar and Joan Collamore is or are?
My mother is a Blackmer descended from this line and I am trying to compile as much of the family as possible to hopefully one day compile a printed manuscript of the same.
(suzisuzuki@earthlink.net) My mother is Margaret Mona (Blackmer) Peterson and I am her daughter Beverly Joan (Peterson) Sawyer. I live in Woodstock, CT and have visited the Williams Family Cemetery located in Roger Williams Park of Providence, RI., where James, Mary, their two daughters and son-in-laws are buried. I have taken photos of the gravestones. I'd be happy to share with anyone willing to share as well.

Is this the 1930 or 1932 version?
Carol said she had a supplemental 1932 version. I wonder if that is a more complete version or just the add-ons. If there is anything I have you need, let me know. I

I clicked something and my message went throught before I finished. The other families included in my book are Rev. Adam Blackman (Blackmore) of Stratford CT and (as the book reads) probably related lines of Samuel blackmer of Bennington, VT
and David Blackmer of RI
Also unattached lines of:
Reuben Blackmer of Belchertown, MA
David Blackmer of Nova Scotia
Capt. Elijah Blackman of MA
If anyone would like any of this information, I'd be glad to give it.

HI Linda,
I too saw that information about Hazard. I found it odd that he was said to vanished in the woods. He must have run away. He always claims he is born in Rhode Island. My ancestor is his son William who married Louisa France in Whiteside County, Illinois. William's mother is Polly (suranme unknown). Hazard always claims to be about the same age in the census records and was older than his wives. He can be found in the 1880 in Wisocnsin with his third wife and more children. I am still trying to sort out this family with records. New York ones are hard to find.
Hope we can help each other out on this one. Thanks for the reply, Becky

The 1860 census shows her living with Orrin Blackmore in Wayne, NY. She is living in 1870 with Alexander Everson and his wife, Sarah, in Wisconsin. However, she marries Alexander in 1884 and on her marriage certificate states she is the daughter of "Hassard Blackmore". Hazard did marry Bestey Everson . . . Alexander Everson's sister, I believe.

Just a little confusion here, Jacob is not Henry's brother... Abner is Henry's youngest brother.... Jacob is Abner's son. Abner Sr. is m to Anna [?] and has at least the following children:
Sarah b abt 1758, Jacob b April 1759/60, Abner Jr b 1764, Eseck b abt 1765, and Jane b bef 1769. Jane is the only one of the group mentioned in Jemina's Will
I have heard of the Blackmore Genealogies but I haven't seen it. Is there more information about Abner?
Carol

Abner and Ann Blackmar had at least 5 children :Sarah who married Abraham Wells, Jacob , Abner Jr., Eseck [ probably Isaac but always spelled with an E] , and Jane who was mentioned in her grandmother's will .
I can trace Sarah, Jacob, Abner Jr. and Eseck but I have no information on Jane.
Abner Sr., Abner Jr., Jacob and Abraham Wells all served in the Rev. It is likely that Abraham Wells and Jacob served in the same company since they both reference the same person in their pension applications.

Becky: Let me disclose my lineage and see how far we connect:

James and Mary (Hawkins) Blackmore/Blackmar (Eng?/RI)
Son-John and Jemima (Kinney) Blackmar (RI)
Son- John and Mary (Mitchell) Blackmar, Jr.(Smithfield, RI
Son-Amaziah and Candace (Simmons/Seamans) Blackmar (RI)
Son-John and Sarah (Potter) Blackmar (RI)
Son-Hazard and Polly (Pratt) Blackmar (RI?/NY/WI?.
Son-William and Louisa France (NY/Illinois)
Son-William Erastus Blackmer and Mary Ellen (Nellie) Littell (Illinois)
Son-Kenneth William Blackmer and Eileen L. Harris (Illinois/Wisconsin/Arkansas)

This is all I have on Hazard:

He was born Hazard B. Blackmar in Jefferson Co,,NY
1/18/1798 to John Blackmar and Sarah Potter. he died 5/27/1879 in Dekorrah, Columbia Co, WI
His first wife? was Polly Pratt b NY 1822 and died 1854 in Clayton, Jefferson Co., NY
She is buried in 3 Mile Cemetery Clayton, NY
Their known children were Sarah, William (my ancester) and Lucy. Hazard may have had two other wives...Julia and Betsy Everson. Family records report William as being orphaned to a Wright family in NY. (Hazard probably ran off in the woods and and left the children it seems because he showed up later married again.) Later William went to army and moved to Illinois. A land grant error changed the name to Blackmer and it has been that ever since. I have more but that is basically what I have on Hazard and his family.

Keep in touch.
I just posted info to Priscilla Pride but left out one ancestor. See below: I need info on James Blackmar's family and ancestry before marriage. I know that his Mary and Elizabeth married into the Roger Williams family but I am not descending from the Williams family. Someday I may check into the Williams by marriage I am connected to for my children but not right now. Was James connected to the Blackmores? Where from England did he come from and when did he come over? I also need more info on Hazard and Amaziah (Rev. War) and was John also in Rev. War. Those are main questions I have.

My Blackmore/Blackmar/Blackmer Family Line:
James and Mary (Hawkins) Blackmore/Blackmar (Eng?/RI)
Son-John and Jemima (Kinney) Blackmar (RI)
Son- John amd Mary (Mitchell) Blackmar, Jr. (Smithfield, RI
Son-Amaziah and Candace (Simmons) Blackmar (RI)
Son-John and Sarah (Potter) Blackmar (RI)
Son-Hazard and Polly (Pratt) Blackmar(r) (RI?/NY/WI?.
Son-William and Louisa France (NY/Illinois)
Son-William Erastus Blackmer and Mary Ellen (Nellie) Littell (Illinois)
Son-Kenneth William Blackmer and Eileen L.
I have direct ancestral history down from James Blackmar and Mary Hawkins to my present family but no seems to have anything before James. I don't know who his parents were, where exactly he came from (assumed-England). I keep hitting a brick wall. I have heard suggestions that he was the brother of William Blackmore but nothing supports that...especially the dates. I also am curious to find out more on Hazard Blackmar . He is an evasive ancestor. I would also like to know if other of my ancestors were in the American Revolution besides Amaziah. Possible John.I will attach what I have on my end.

James and Mary (Hawkins) Blackmore/Blackmar (Eng?/RI)
Son-John and Jemima (Kinney) Blackmar (RI)
Son-Amaziah and Candace (Simmons/Seamans) Blackmar (RI)
Son-John and Sarah (Potter) Blackmar (RI)
Son-Hazard and Polly (Pratt) Blackmar (RI?/NY/WI?.
Son-William and Louisa France (NY/Illinois)
Son-William Erastus Blackmer and Mary Ellen (Nellie) Littell (Illinois)
Son-Kenneth William Blackmer and Eileen L.
Hi Carol,

The only information I have on Abner Blackmar is that he had a son:
Jacob Blackmar, b. 12Apr1760 in Gloucester, RI; he died in 1853 in Thompson and is buried in East Putnam. He married a Phebe Ann Green. (no other info on her) Jacob & Ann supposedly had 11 children that I am aware of. I'd be glad to share information with you.

Beverly

Priscilla,
We share the same line from James & Mary to Levi and his wife. I do hope someday we will find something prior to James and Mary.
I have visited the graves of James & Mary, and their two daughters who married into the Roger Williams Family. They in the Williams Family Cemetery located in Roger Williams Park, Providence, RI.

Best of luck on your searches!
Beverly

Walter, if you have access to online sources, or perhaps the right library, there is a publication: The History of Woodstock & Woodstock Families, by Henry C. Bowen. It was a limited edition, but has many of the Blackmar(mer) lines relating to James Blackmar & Mary Hawkins. I too am a direct descendant of James & Mary. My mother is Margaret Mona Blackmer. James is my mother's 7th Great Grandfather, my 8th Great Grandfather. If you don't have an online subscription and can't reach this source via your library, you can subscribe to an online source "The William Godfrey Library" which will give you access to this information for about $35 a year membership.

My name is Beverly J. (Peterson) Sawyer and my email is: suzisuzuki@earthlink.net

Please put "Genealogy" in the subject line as my mail is well filtered!
