William Henry Blackmon

I am looking for information on William Henry Blackmon born in North or South Carolina in/about 1815. He married Mary Elizabeth(or Evaline) Bass. There family, including Charity, Dillon,John, Marideth, Graddy, and my great grandfather, Lemon eventually ended up in Gonzales, County Texas. William Henry was adopted by a man named Blackmon. His birth name was supposedly William Henry Johnston. I'm not sure exatly when they got to Texas or when he died. I know that his widow married John W. Alford in Texas. I would appreciate any help in getting more information on William Henry Blackmon.

I am also related to Samantha Jane Blackman and John Francis Entrekin, but I don't have any information that leads me to believe her parents were Lamar Blackman and Mary Deason. I would very much like to discuss with anyone who has information to help find answers.

Another "Blackmon in Georgia" question?

I have posted this question before, but never received a response. Since there has been a lot of activity related to Georgia Blackmons lately, I thought I would try again.
My great grandmother was Fannie Blackmon, born in Athens, Clarke County, GA on 23 Oct, 1873. She was known as "Mammie" to the family, but I suspect that both "Mammie" and "Fannie" were nicknames, perhaps for Francis, etc. I am looking for her mother's name. I have have a copy of Fannie's death certificate, dated 6 Jul 1942 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

I have been able to put the following together... Her father was David (Daniel?) Blackmon. I suspect that David might have been the son of John and Frankey Blackmon (1860 census from Jackson County, GA)and David would have had an older sister, Susan. In any case, Fannie's mother is not shown on the death certificate and is unknown. My great-grandmother, Fannie Blackmon, was the only child of David's first wife who either died at childbirth or soon thereafter. After her death, Fannie and her father, David, mover to Atlanta where both spent the rest of their lives. David remarried -- Lettie Mary Stone -- in about 1877. They had 5 children, 4 of which reached adulthood -- Lena Lettie, Herman A., Katherine S. "Katie", and Lucy C. (all born between 1885 and 1892 in Atlanta. Since Herman apparently never married, this would have been the end of this Blackmon line. Fannie Blackmon married George A. Mayfield in about 1892 in Atlanta and had five children, including my grandmother, Katie Estelle Mayfield, born in 1898. Any help on identifying David Blackmon and his first wife would be greatly appreciated.

I, too, am looking for ancestors and/or descendants for the William Henry Blackmon married to Mary Elizabeth Bass. Lemon Blackmon was the father of my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Blackmon Bost of Waelder, Texas. A story told by my grandmother was that William Henry Blackmon was actually born William Henry Johnston in North Carolina, but was "adopted" by a Blackmon family. So far, I've been unable to confirm this. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Who was your grandfather? Where was he (or his father) before Etawah Co?
Most of the Blackmons in Eastern AL were related in one way or another, but you have to dig deep.
My connection is William Jackson Blackmon, his son Joseph Dewitt "Pomp" Blackmon, his daughter Flossie Irma Blackmon Miller. Wm Jackson was Harris Co, GA, and "Pomp" moved the crew to Chambers Co, AL.
May I ask if you have any Blackmons in Chambers Co, AL or Harris Co, GA? They were in GA before and during the Civil War and some of them moved on to AL at a later date. I'm really trying to connect different strains of the Blackmon families. There are two Jackson Blackmons listed as sons of two different fathers on the 1850 census in Harris Co, GA. One of them was my William Jackson Blackmon who died in the Civil War, leaving a wife and two children. I'm reasonably sure it was the son of Joel Blackmon that's my Jackson. I'd like to connect with someone who can verify and document this for me.

I have gathered a lot of information on the Blackmon's, but not as much as I would like about the children of Charles and Amanda, - and their children.I would love to hear from you also.
family of Hollis BLACKMAN/BLACKMON

Does anyone have a list of all of Hollis and Delila (Clark) Blackman/Blackmon's children?

1830 Lancaster county, SC census listed 1 male 5-10; 2 females under 5; and 1 female 5-10

1840 Harris county, GA listed 1 male under 5; 1 male 5-10; and 1 male 15-20
2 females 10-15 and 1 female 15-20

1850 Harris county has daughter Tarzey? age 19, John age 18 and William age 9 (other info says William was born 1839) Elizabeth was already married.

This leaves the oldest male born 1820-1825, and one daughter born 1820-1825 and one daughter born after Elizabeth 1827-1830. Is it possible that the oldest son is Perry Blackman born about 1820 married Rachel Laney 1840 and died before 1850 Harris county, GA. Perry's son is buried in the same lot as Delilia and William (wife and son of Hollis) in Antioch Cemetery, Claiborne Parish, LA

Actually, I think there are indeed two sets of Blackmons in Blount County, Alabama. There is a set that lives in Warrior and has relatives somewhere in mid-central Alabama. I believe the patriarch of the Warrior family is named Joel. This is not my set. If you will email me at meenajean@hotmail.com, I will give you the email address of someone who might could help you with that line.
