Hi,

I'm searching for BJ Blackshear from Florida. He moved to Georgia and married Mattie, but I think he moved back to Florida with his wife, Mattie, and their two sons George Damon Henry, and John. I believe he died soon after the birth of their youngest son, John because Mattie remarried a Weldon.

Any info appreciated...

I am in England, My family is the last of the Blackshears here and unfortunately the name dies out over here as only girls are left! Brehme is my married name. I am interested in a copy of Blacksheariana as the originator came to England to look up the UK side of the family, I believe back in the late 50's early 60's. Unfortunately, the only Blackshear he could find in the London directory was a particularly bad tempered great uncle who, according to family history, told him to get lost. so sorry!I am interested in contacting other Blackshears, although I thought our origins were Chester and the first Blackshear who went to the US was in the 1600's. Can anyone enlighten me?

Would like any info on Mary Blackshear b.1746 Jones Co. NC, married Benjamin Fordham, Their son Wlm. Fordham married Philapena Koonce.
Traced Mary Blackshear to her father (I thought) Alexander Blackshear and read his will but it only mentions 2 daughters - Eleanor and Sarah.

I too descend from Jacob and Judith Moore Blackshear, through his son, Silas Malone Blackshear & Sophena Garrett's son Simeon Marshall Blackshear & Mary Elizabeth Ince. Simeon & Elizabeth's son, David Harrison Blackshear was my grandfather.

I would love to have as much info as you have on Jacob's son John's line and would be glad to share my info.

By the way, I lucked into a transcription of a Will of a John Moore filed in Jones Co, NC and a daughter named Judith was mentioned. If I can prove our Judith Moore was one in the same, I have a great deal of info on this John Moore's line and it's allied families, if you are interested.

Hi, I saw that you were inquiring about a DAR listing on James Murphy and wondered if you knew that you are eligible for DAR through Nancy Blackshear?

Her grandfather, Elisha Stout & her great grandfather Alexander are both DAR listed as are Alexander SR's grandson Brig Genl David Blackshear & son Edward Blackshear/

I descend from Elisha's son, Jacob and would love to have your info on Alexander's line, as I have nothing. If you do not have it, I can give you a lot of the complete line back to 1505 in England, when the name was still Blackshaw. The book "The Blacksheariana" is now transcribed online which is the history of all Blackshaw/Blackshears from England to America. If you don't have the URL, let me know and I will be glad to give it to you.

Funny that you should be looking for this information as I became interested recently as well. Having watched "Cold Mountain" I checked out a local Sacred Harp group and noticed the Blackshear name as the author for many of the alto lines. R. D. Blackshear is a cousin to my line but I may know someone who might have additional information. Let me know if I can help.

My grandparents last name was Blackshire and I have been tracing the family tree. they were from Benton, Louisiana and then moved to OKlahoma. I am searching for Blackshires/Blackshears in LA. I have just started. I am hitting lots of brick walls. I know that my Blackshire had 3 children for sure that were delivered by a mid-wife all in LA. Time frame is 1890-1896 to the best of my knowledge. The only one I am for sure on is 1890. I was told by one of the grandchild they thought that my Annie might have some Indian in her but able to prove it. Any help would be appreciated. My mom is helping me since I am only 12 yrs and I am doing this for a history project due in Sept. I am homeschooled and this was the summer project I chose.

You say you have much information on Col. Hamitlon Howard Blackshear, I am the wife of his grandson Hamilton Howard Blackshear III. My father in law Hamitlon Jr is from the Col's relationship with Lorraine Scarpa. My father in law was born 21 October, 1949 and passed 12 September, 2005. He did not know his father vey well. hello, My name is Melinda Blackshear, my husband is Hamilton H. Blsckshear III, grandson of Col. Hamilton Blackshear. My father in law is his son, Hamilton H. Blackshear, Jr. from his relationship with Lorraine Scarpa. Hamilton Jr., was born 10-21-1949 and passed away 9-12-2005. I do know that Col. Blackshear had a twin brother. Hello all! My mother’s father died when she was young and a lot of her family’s history went with him. I am in the process of researching my mother’s family for her so that she will have some pictures to go along with the research. She is ecstatic with the research so far! As a gift to her I am going to try to put together a sort of scrapbook for her. If anyone has ANY pictures that they can send me through email I would greatly appreciate it. If not can anyone tell me where photos of "Blackshears" are located? Also, I have heard of the “Blacksheariana”. Does anyone know if this book contains photos?

My mother is related to the Blackshears through her great grandmother Elizabeth Margret Blackshear (Countryman). Some of the other Blackshears that she is related to are: James Addison, Enoch, Jacob, Elisha Stout, Alexander and so forth.
