My great grandmother and grandfather Perry & Annie are buried in Forest Hills in Morley. In unmarked graves directly beside them are my grandmother Oleta and my great great Aunt Eva, who I am assuming would be your husband's grandmother. She was Cecil's mother. She died when I was around 6 or 7 I remember it was the first funeral I attended. Shortly after Marcy died.

Annie Blackwood was my great grandmother. Oleta was my grandmother. Lillian Pearson was my great aunt. Rhonda was my mother. They are all deceased. If you have a picture of Cecil and Marcy with an Amber in it, and it's a baby or toddler, I am pretty sure that the Amber is me. I may also know what picture you are talking about. I was a child when Marcy and when Cecil died. I remember them both, I am 28 now, I am the only one who still lives in MO.

I don't have info about your William Blackwood other than my greatgrandfather, a Mr. Jones, was accused of shooting him with a shotgun in the back. The Walker County grandjury no-billed him. I understand, without any info at all, that the real murderer was caught later in Texas. William Blackwood's wife, Susan Jones, was an aunt to the accused shooter, and she testified in his behalf. She said that "if Mr. Jones had wanted to shoot Mr. Blackwood, he would have shot him in the front, not the back."

I have had the experience of holding the supposed weapon.

I would love to see a picture of your mother and grandmother. My gr grandmother, Hariett Blackwood, looked very much native American. I wish I had proof as to their heritage, but I do not. Some say Blackwoods may have been Creek, others say Cherokee, some say perhaps Choctaw. I am sorry.

I so have album which at one time belonged to Harriet Blackwood's daughter. Has unidentified pics Do you know of a relative with last name Mitchell?

Very interesting post on a blog dated Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Hollie Chastain's blog. The blog is called, "Dr. Kennedy Jones".

The entry I'm referring to is pages of a family bible originally owned by Jesse Stanley (b. 1793, d. 1867)and his wife Mary Stanley (b. ?, d. 1871). It appears to have been passed down (via inheritance?)to their daughter Susan Stanley Blackwood (b. 1823 in Surry Co., NC, d. ?) and her husband Robert Norris Blackwood (b. 1822 in Orange Co, NC; d. ?).

Here is the blog address. Look for the entry dated March 13, 2011.

http://drkennedyjones.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2011-0...

I'll also try to post the pictures.

Enjoy!

Joan Blackwood, a 7-year resident of New Canaan, died Tuesday, Oct. 5. She was born in New York 8/28/1927 to Frank and Elizabeth Biederman. Mrs. Blackwood was a wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Mrs. Blackwood graduated in the top decile of her 500-student class and was among a rare group of Jamaica H.S. students to be awarded four major J's for all of her sports accomplishments. These included basketball, softball and field hockey. She met her future husband, Bob Blackwood, at Jamaica High. He was her paperboy in Bellrose, and they soon became H.S. sweethearts. During WW II, he corresponded frequently with her and knew they'd marry upon his return. They were married 6/27/1948 and were married for 56 years until Mr. Blackwood's passing in 2005. Prior to New Canaan, Mrs. Blackwood lived in Norwalk, Bronxville, Douglaston and Beechurst, NY. Forced to work after graduating H.S., Mrs. Blackwood served as executive assistant at a number of Manhattan firms. One notable position she held was the executive assistant to the CFO of Saks Fifth Avenue. Mrs. Blackwood is survived by a daughter and son, Candy of New Canaan, and Adam of Chatham, NJ, his wife, Michele; four grandchildren: Jake, Maggie, Alex and Jenny; and a brother, Roger of Palm Beach Gardens,FL. She is predeceased by her parents Frank and Elizabeth, husband, Bob, and brother, Jerry. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated today, Friday, 10/15/2010 at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Blackwood's name to either New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps at www.nyvac.org or Meals on Wheels of New Canaan, Inc. at 203-594-5318. New Canaan News, 10/15/2010, pg. A8. I am not tracing this family; hope this helps someone.

He died in VA. His son was James b. 1767 in VA (these dates are approximate, as I do not have documents). James had a son named James b. 1789. The rest of the line is John Thomas, William Fowler, William Ernest (born in KY), Cosby Howard.

If anyone has any information, I would love to hear from you. I have just started my research and I have found everyone on this site to be extremely helpful. Thanks, Julie

Hey anything for family, because this makes your husband a cousin of mine--a distant cousin, yes, but still, a cousin. :)

William Blackwood
+Elizabeth "Betsy Craig"
James Blackwood
+Anna Thompson
Issac Blackwood
+Mary Jones
James Blackwood
+Aytchia Daily
James E. They also, among SEVERAL other children, had a son named Joseph.

Joseph Blackwood
+Luhaney Rushing
James "Jim Buck" Blackwood
+Molly Presley
William Robin Blackwood
+Emma Lucinda Nix (1st Wife)
Minnie Ardelia Blackwood
+Wiley Denson "W.D." But I will let you know, in case you want me to e-mail them to you. I hope you won't mind sharing more info with me as you get it too.
Velma, according to my research was Luther's second wife. Lena Gibson was his first wife, and they had a son from what I've seen. If I remember correctly, Velma and Luther are burried at Pine Bluff Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. I can make sure this coming weekend, providing the weather is okay, as that cemetery is very close to my parent's house. I'm not sure if Billy would be Lena's son or one of Velma's, or if he's buried at Pine Bluff, but I'll see if I can find further info.

Billy my greatgrandparents are Luther and Velma. My grandfather was Coy one of his sons. I dont' know much about them, Luther divorced his first wife and married again, but I think she died or maybe she left him too. I don't know if Velma was the first wife or the second or really which one did what. From the stories my father and his siblings have shared with me Luther was a horrible mean man! They lived with him in Cleveland. Jerie Ann Blackwood
