Please keep in mind that it was traditional for people of those times to give all their sons and daughters the same first and different middle name.
The John Blair/Blais I'm talking about was born in 1838-1913. He married a Mary Girard(Geroux)(Gereauxa)and (Gero) sirnames of the French and Natives that took on Chrisian names had many "dits" wich meant there were minor or major spelling differences belonging to one original name. In Johns case it was originally Jean which is the French way to say John, Blais is the French way to say Blair because the French do not pronounce their "s'" in "s" sounds like an "r" therefore Blais had many spellings, such as Blay, Bled, Blair originally Blais some even spelled Blais('e')..
Even within my immediate family my siblings droped the (e) off the Millette name..wich was also spelled many different ways, one must read the dit details to know the variations of both sirname spellings. According to of the John Blair's descendants and Mary Girard, they had aboout 14 children Adelllaide Blair DOB only 1862; Mary L Blair 1864 no death date..Israel Blair 1866-1937;Arthur Blair 1867; John Blair 1870--1934, Sarah Blair 1870-; Louis Blais 1874-; Frank Blair 1876-1887; Ethel Blair 1879-1944; Emma Jane Blair 1880-my greatgrandmother; Francoise Blair 1883-;Gertie Blair 1884-1884.

I have been able to confirm Mattie's Parents (Basile Allard & Marie Archambault) they are from Coopersville, N.Y State (parish St Joseph du Corbeau) but for Simon BLAIS, it is an other story..... I cannot confirm who they are and I do not have acces to the records of Champlain, N.Y. (their names should be on the marriage record I suppose)

By any chance would you have acces to those records?

Thanks again,
Lucie
