Classification: Query
Surnames: Blake
Rebecca Blake, wife of Robert Eames/Ames of Boxford is well known as a victim of the Salem witch hysteria. She was b. 1639 the daughter of George Blake. I am interested since a DNA test reveals her to be an ancestor.

Is there anything reliable known about her ancestry beyond her father's name? The internet is overflowing with claims that George was son of William Blake and Agnes Thorne of Pitminster, Somerset, but these are usually made in conjunction with ridiculous statements that George was born in MA in 1611! I believe that George is not recorded as a son of Wm in the Will of the latter.

Can anyone comment? George Blake does appear to be a significant person, as a Selectman. I note too a terse comment from among Ancestry trees that:

George BLAKE b: 1611 in Pitminster, Somerset Co, England (actually this George born 1611 was born to Humphrey William Blake Born in 1563 marrried to Sarah William born abt. 1575. This information was researched by me, Helene Hunt in Bridgwater, England in The Blake Museum. There is a genealogy chart on the wall that Robert Blake the Admiral had there forever.) Hand printed
