Thank you for your interest...
Yes, I confirmed that information...You are correct. Harvey and Lydia had a total of 9 children that I could find. Harvey E, Julia E, Rosa O, Edward, Alvin, Lydia Ellen, Thomas Loveless, Willard, and Pomeroy whose real name is Brazellie Pomeroy. Are you related?

Jeanne,

Did you ever confirm Pomeroy's parents? My best guess is his parents were Harvey C Blakesley & Lydia Hale. Harvey died around 1875 in York, Elkhart, Indiana. Their children appear with different families in the 1880 Census such as brother Willard. Lydia died around 1890.

Paul C Ostrander

BLAKESLEYS IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE AND YORKSHIRE

I've only started using this board tonight. All the BLAKESLEYS I can trace come from NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, from the village of OLD (spelt WOLD earlier than mid-nineteenth century), but . Many migrated to BRADFORD in West Yorkshire from around the 1860s, but I believe that some moved to the DEWSBURY area possibly as early as the 1820s. I can find no obvious connection. Any clues, anyone?

Regarding the several reports and queries today for David Blakesley, I wish to add some info. My name is Eugene Blakeslee. I have extensively researched the Blakeslee family back to Samuel in New Haven in the 1640s and published the results in several places. I have worked with David in the past and encouraged him to take the DNA test, which he did. I would say that he is really a Blakeslee, because his paper trail to Samuel seems reliable, but he is not biologically descended because his DNA does not match that of several others of us who participated in the test. What is incorrect about his post is the date and place of Samuel's birth. I have irrefutable proof that this is so and would be happy to elaborate if anyone is interested.

My mother is Carol Phylis Blakesly (the "e" was dropped by her mother, so "Blakesley")...she was the daughter of Wilbur Grover Blakesley and Katherine Lenore Lehman.

Wilbur's parents were Charles Blakesley and Amelia Miller. An Aunt of mine told me that this line was traced back to Connecticut to a Samuel Blakesley, "who made the jump across the pond".

Saw the post of the 14 generations and wondered if the Samuel listed is the same-possible relation?

I have a deed of 1780 in which an Abijah Deming sells a 50 acre piece of land in East Dorset, Vt. to Matthias Marsh. The Marsh land had the lands of Eli Deming to their north and Eliakim to the south. I know Eli had children, but had seen no evidence that Eliakim did, but he may have had such. If this is the same piece of land the Marsh family had owned previous to 1780 and then sold off, the earlier sale was to Eliakim.

So it is possible that your Sarah was a sister to an Abijah. I've been looking for Abijah, but the only one I find on the Internet was still in CT. (of course he could have been there an inherited land).

Eliakim's mother was Susanna French, daughter of Samuel French (Samuel French, the Joiner, as were most of his neighbors.

The mother of Nathaniel Blakesley and Jeptha Prouty is Elizabeth Ellsworth (Blakesley, Prouty, Ferris).

In her Will, Elizabeth Ferris names her children, Nathaniel, Ephriam, Sarah (deceased) and Lydia (Blakesley) Patrick and Jeptha Prouty.
I am trying to find out who my gggrandmother's family was. According to vital marriage records of Wallingford, CT, Janette (Jennette?) Blakesley married Diodatus (Deodatus?) Davenport in 1835. She was from New Haven, he from Wallingford. After he died, she married James Monahan, my gg grandfather, somewhere around 1850 or so. There were alot of Blakesleys (Blakeslee) around New Haven at that time. Does anyone have any information that could help me? Thanks.
