Hi, my ancestor was Charles Richard Blanche born 1806 in Kingston, Surrey but lived nearly all his life in Hornsey. His brother was John Hayman Blanche who was born 1802 also in Kingston but as his brother lived in Hornsey. There were four other siblings I have, James J., Caroline, Thomas and Josiah.
Thier parents I have as James & Mary Blanche.

Could any this family be related to the Blanches mentioned in this thread.

Regards, Ian

It seems we may be related. My father was George Henry Blanche, born in Hornsey in 1877, who, according to research we have gleaned from elsewhere, appears to be the great grandson of John Hayman Blanche. I do have further information on intermediate members of this line of the family tree if you are interested. Your information regarding the Brittany link is certainly very interesting and I wonder if you have managed to find out any further information since your last post. I am keen to find any ancestors on my father's side, because at the time I was born (1944) he was already advancing in years and I never knew him.

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your post. I got one or two replies early on, just after I'd posted the original msg, but nothing since. I'd still be very keen to gather more information on both figures, particularly John and his family, prior to their arrival in Australia. I can't offer much in return as far as geni material goes, as the research relates to a project dealing with Melbourne's early gun trade, of which John was the first (and sadly, shortest) business, but if any of that side of things is of interest, I'm only too happy to forward it through.

Look forward to hearing from you.

All the best,
Ben

I am trying to locate my gggrandmother Bridget (nee Blanch) and her husband John Green in St. John's, Newfoundland in the mid 1800s, or any of their relatives still living there today.

My great grandmother Mary died in childbirth at age 37 in East Boston, MA USA July 13, 1914. She had married Thomas William Hughes and had 5 children living - William J?, Margaret J?, Ethel M, William T, and Edward G - at the time of her death.

Bridget Blanch and John Green are listed as Mary's parents in St. John's where Mary was born. Mary may have come to the States with a sister in the years 1890-91, and possibly married by 1895.

Thanks for any help you might provide.

I haven't seen the name Blanch in any of my research. There are plenty of Sykes and Jenkins in the area. Plenty of Sykes can be found around Drewryville/Adams Grove area. Jenkins from Boykins/Capron area. During various times, a portion of these area were considered part of the Drewryville District.

Disney is a long shot from where our ancestors came from. I am quite familiar with Drewryville. I can probably pinpoint where your ancestors might have lived.

I am still interested in making a connection.

Elwood

There is a Yancey website. Can't remember the address at this moment, but there is a lot of AA Yancey information there. What else can you tell me about the Blanch family?

An update: it appears from church records in Newfoundland that I'm now looking for a Blanche with a 'e'. I possibly located my ggggrandparents in Newfoundland (Edward Blanche and Mary Anne Prowse) as sponsors at my great grandmother Mary Anne Greene's baptism in Basilica of St. John the Baptist, St. John's in 1876. Mary, born to John Greene and Bridget Blanche, grew to marry Thomas William Hughes from NY and died in Boston in 1914 while in labor.

Kindly seeking any information you may have on Edward Blanche, his wife Mary Anne Prowse, or their children Bridget Blanche, etc? Thank you!
