LIkewise . I can do electronic searches and will see if there is any institutional memory amongst the living relatives. My dad will tell me information if I prompt him, but he seems uncomfortable talking about it, because he grew up around his maternal family and they , well, weren't exactly superstars. My aunt and my dad reinvented themselves and got their degrees late in life and always emphasized that education was the great equalizer and continues. My aunt is a librarian and is highly involved in literacy programs for underprivileged children. My dad is retired and he and my mom spend a lot of time giving assistance to hispanic children either monetarily or through their time. ( Like adopting "grandchildren") .

Did you get my invite to my tree? Just curious....

My mom was an educator, my dad tried to be a teacher but found out he hated children! he did the troops to teachers program. I am a civil engineer and my brother Chris is the history teacher. He is interested so that he can inspire his children at school to take pride in their hispanic heritage.

That is the million dollar question. I don't know what her name was. I do a lot of random searching hoping for anything , but I haven't turned up anything as of yet. BUT I NEVER GIVE UP!!!!

I have two older brothers( one is a history teacher and a civil engineer like me) and the history teacher is only mildly interested. My dad isn't one for talking and has no interest but I think it is fascinating since I had no idea how far back our family goes back in New Mexico history. I have currently an active account on ancestry.com.I will share whatever i know with you guys, which is very little. I can do some research on the montana blanchard and get back to ya.

any picture of the family would be great. I believe fidelia may have lived in Montana (Harding) near a blanchard relative. There is a picture on my grandfather mel's pic. Perhaps the older woman there is fidelia or her daughter emma.

My father told me they were blanchards/branchals but the missing link was my grandma fidelia's maiden name. It took me a year of active searching to figure this out. My Aunt Helen is also interested in our family genealogy. My father grew up in washington state and I am not sure about the blanchard's in montana.

My name is MArie Armijo Brady and am glad to meet you!

My grand father was Hermas Blanchard, he came from Qubec Canada, I far as I know his father is Charles Sr.He never did leave Canada. I live in Clovis nm, so we are not far apart. Carlos Blanchard lived in Las Vegas NM, have you done any research on him, I don't know if there is any kin there are not on your side. But I have info on my Grandfather's family and his brother Carlos, there was another brother that came with Carlos, his name was Miquel and I belive he went back to Canada. This can get very mind boggling some times.I am more than willing to see if there is any relationship with these families.
Thank you for replying.

I just found out that I too am descended from those same ancestors. Nancy Blanchard was married to Gideon White Young, a direct descendant of Mayflower's Peregrine White and I am descended through her son Charles Young(twin) 1831-1906 . His eldest Daughter Nancy Blanche Young was married to Benjamin Dudley Hill born March 14, 1855 in Boston, Ma.(his second marriage)and their son Louis Blanchard Hill was born June 30, 1895 in Revere, Ma. He married my Grandmother, Marion Norma Probert born 1896 in Newton, Ma. and their second child was Donald Edwin Hill born Sept. 27, 1920. Their's also mention of Benjamin Dudley Hill's marriages and spouses in some geneological book on google books when I typed in his Father, Henry B.(Bozyol) Hill born 1823 . Benjamin Dudley Hill had 2 children in first marriage and 5 married to Nancy Blanche (Young). Three of Nancy and Benjamins children were divorced and Louis was twice divorced .

Pat Blanchard did extensive research on the Blanchard tree and has him married to Mary Jane Rhodes and has his parents as Benjamin Blanchard and Malinda Burbee. Benjamin's parents were Benjamin Covey Blanchard and Martha "Patty" Rowe. If you go to the following link http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~blanch-l/GeoB/ff9309... it will lead you to a lot of information. She has lots of sources listed and I have used her information for a bunch of my Blanchard Family connections as well. Also there are a number of trees on ancestry that have this information as well.

Seeking Information on Stillman Blanchard

All I know is Stillman had a daughter Kate L Blanchard born around May of 1875. (Kate married Frank Stoddard on 1891
11 Nov.) Kate's mother is Mary (unsure of maiden name). I believe Stillman was born around 1845, but I could be wrong. Does anyone have any information on Stillman or his wife Mary? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am also looking for some information. Charles Blanchard is listed on the 1930 census in OK as a roomer living with my grandfather Lewis F Greene and his first wife Martha. Charles is listed as 32, divorced, born in Ohio, a service manager in the aviation field. My grandfather was listed as an aviation instructor. Guessing the new each other in Michigan too. Trying to find out if Lewis had any children with his first wife.

I am attaching a newpaper article found in some items left to me my my Grandmother for Genealological purposes. Dont know why she had this since it is not our family. It is a wonderful article about a Judith Ann Allin being christened along with her cousin Elisabeth Jean Blanchard. Aout 1941 in Chico Cal. It speaks of a Colonel B. C. Allin (Grandfather) who brought the christening water from the River Jordon 30 years previous. It also speaks about (Grandfather) A. A. Blanchard, professor of Chemistry at the Mass. Institute of Technology. If anyone is interested they can have the article. I would be happy to mail it or email it. Sincerely, Wendy

Andrew Henri BLANCHARD (Late 1700's - Early 1800's) Massachusetts

Does the name Andrew Henri BLANCHARD from Massachusetts ring a bell to anyone? He lived around the late 1700's to the early 1800's. He was the captain of a ship named Thaddeus, which sailed from Boston bringing the first missionaries to Hawaii. I think I am a descendant of his, and would love to know more about his side of the family in Massachusetts. Our family genealogy records show that an Andrew Blanchard from Massachusetts married my great-great-great-great-grandmother, the Hawaiian chiefess Kahalokahoupokapu, and they had a daughter named Harriet Blanchard, of whom I am descended from. Here are some historical references regarding this Andrew BLANCHARD. If anyone can confirm these details to be true, I'd be much obliged. Here are the references:

http://files.usgwarchives.net/hi/statewide/newspapers/hawaii... October 23.-- The brig Thaddeaus, under ANDREW BLANCHARD, sails from
Boston with the First Company of American Missionaries to the Sandwich
Islands.
http://files.usgwarchives.net/hi/keepers/koc37.txt American Missionaries and the 12 ships that came from Boston. --- The American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions [an interdonominational body composed mostly of Presbyterians and Congregationalists].
The first ship departed from Boston on October 23,1819, the missionaries
started their long voyage around Cape Horn and across the Pacific to
Hawaii. After five months of seasickness and cramped quarters, they
sighted the snow-capped peaks of Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii on
March 30, 1820.

1st ship--; " Thaddeus " -- Capt Andrew Blanchard. 1st Officer -- James
Hunwell arrived March 30,1820.
http://www.3rd1000.com/history3/Early%20Ships/Early%20Ships%... THADDEUS: An American Brig of Boston, 241 tons burthen, which under ANDREW BLANCHARD as master, sailed from that port late in October 1819 for the North West Coast.
http://www.hawaiianencyclopedia.com/part-2-glossary.asp Blanchard, Andrew - In command of the Bordeaux Packet in 1817 when the ship arrived in the Hawaiian Islands (then referred to as the Sandwich Islands); in command of the brig Thaddeus, which sailed from Boston on August 23, 1819 carrying the First Company of American missionaries to the Hawaiian Islands; arriving with the First Company was Massachusetts native James Hunnewell (1794—1869).
http://www.hawaiianencyclopedia.com/1800--1850.asp The Twelve Companies of American Missionaries From the 1820s to the 1860s, a steady stream of missionaries arrived in the Hawaiian Islands (then known as the Sandwich Islands), first converting ali‘i (chiefs) and then maka‘āinana (commoners) to Christianity.

The First Company of American missionaries arrived on March 31, 1820 on the brig Thaddeus, which left Boston for the Hawaiian Islands on August 31, 1819 under the command of Andrew Blanchard.

Hello, I am a descendant of a man named Andrew Henri Blanchard from Massachusetts. He was born in the late 1700's - early 1800's. My genealogy research goes as far back as this man. He is said to have been the captain of a ship named Thaddeus around the year 1820, which sailed to Hawaii from Boston bringing the first missionaries to the islands. Andrew H. Blanchard may have been related to the Thomas Blanchard of your family tree. Are there any records of this name in your files? If so, I would really love to learn more about this side of my family. Thanks!

Blanchard's in Philadelphia pa

Hi there, still looking for Blanchards that came from philadelphia. David had owned a lumber yard and they lived at chestnut and 3rd street. I cannot seem to find them in the census. I am beginning to think they do not exist. this would be around 1830 to about 1865. David had three sons, John, Dave and Henry a daughter Sarah who died at a very young age. Henry had a girl pregnant and he did not marry her. Then he married when he was in the civil war and she had a girl. When he returned she had been having an affair so he left her and headed west. There he married and lived that was California. John and Dave were killed in the civil war, I cannot find them anywhere. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. His mother died about 1863 and father died about a year before that. This is what I have been told. Henry's father is said to had come from New Jersey his wife Elisabeth was surname Black. any info would be great, Also Henry went by a alias, Charles F Hess, he did that when he was to young to join civil war, I have found him under that for a musician and re enlisted again. Just cannot find the rest of his family. thank you, Leah Blanchard

I have just found details of a partition for William Blanchard by his mother Mary. Mary had remarried and had a small child. There was no room for William in her new place. It stated that William was out of work and driven to crime by want.He was led into the offence by two others who were not caught. I have requested a copy of the partition from the UK archives.
Mary was living at Fan St Aldersgate.
Maree

The Old Baily records do not give any personal information on William Blanchard you can check the records. The case was held on the 15 Feb 1827, He was found guilty and arrived here on the Florentia in 1828. He married Anne Green ( came free) and they had two children Robert William and Sarah. I think Sarah died young with no offspring but Robert William had a large family.William died in 1844 when the children were youngsters and Anne died 10 years after.
There is a lot of info about William when he came to Australia but not a snippet on his personal life. This has been driving me mad for 30 years. William B is my husbands direct line and Robert William is the name that has carried through for several generations.
The court case is rather amusing and its worth a look at.
If you would like copies of Williams papers I would be willing to send them to you.
Maree

Hi Kyle,
Great to hear from you.
Thanks for your post.
The evidence is getting stronger that John Blanchard was a convict.
Your evidence backs up an email I've just got from an extremely kind woman in England who looked up some Blanchard records for me, despite me not even asking her to.
It gives the Old Bailey's transcript from 1832 and says he was transported for seven years.
I will email you the details; I think I've still got your email address.
Why do you think that this is our John?
I guess the dates all fit. It would mean, I think, that John was married three times; the third woman being Annie Cunningham whom he married about 1850 in Melbourne.
Anyway, I'll email you and speak soon.
Carolyn.
Hi Maree,
Thanks for the post. It is possible we are related.
In the Old Bailey online transcript of the trial, does it specify where William lives? Or any other personal information?
William is a strong name later in the Blanchards in Melbourne.
Often children can provide clues to parents' names, particularly if it's an unusual name.
Unfortunately my John only appears to have had one child -- John (who had a son called William). Not very helpful.
Perhaps there are clues in your William Blanchard's children's names, as to the names of his parents.
So I gather the Census or the marriage certificate give no clue as to where William was born?
Regards,
Carolyn
