Classification: Query
Surnames: BLANCHE, BLANCE, SAUVAGE
I am seeking information on descendants of Arthur Sauvage BLANCHE of London, England and Canada.
Here is what I know about Arthur BLANCHE:
• Arthur Sauvage BLANCHE (b. 1888 Plaistow, London) was the son of Thomas BLANCE (original spelling) of Shetland and Margaret Sauvage of Bromley, London. He is recorded with his natal family in West Ham, London (1891) and Poplar, London (1901) and then on December 22 1915 he enlists in the 117th O/S Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. On the application he lists “Mechanical Engineer” as his trade and states that he previously had served three years with the 53rd Regiment. After this I lose track of him, although family tradition says that he may have been lost at sea during WWI.
Does anyone recognize this name? Can anyone suggest how I would research the names of Canadians killed during WWI? A second cousin in California would like to correspond with possible descendants.
