Re: Jurrien Blanck, b. 1644 in N.Y.

I may have a connection to this Jurrien Blanck though my maternal NY City Stanton line but I am a bit Blanck family confused. In the latest NY Genealogical and Biographical Record (Vol.139, Number 2, April 2008) there is a reference to a Nicholas Blanck (Born ABT 1658), page 88, who was apparently a brother of Jurrien Blanck born in 1644. Nicholas and Jurrien were apparently sons of Jeuriaen Blanck and Tryntje/Catarina Claes. I note that Jurrien Blanck, JR had a son named Casperus Blanck. This Casperus may be the Caspurus Blanck, SR in my Stanton line. This Casparus Blanck, SR was supposed to have married a Agenet je Post. Casparus Blanck, SR had son who was supposed to have been a been a Casparus Blanck, JR, who married a Marritje Andriesse. A daughter of Casparus, JR, Agnes Blanck (1732-1817)was supposed to have married George Stanton (1733-1809) before 1758.
Frankly I have not done too much work on my New York City Stantons' and would appreciate any assistance in sorting out the rather confusing Dutch connections in my ancestry.

Blanck - Elizabeth, NJ, Blieskastel

I am researching Jacob Blanck, a carpenter born about 1822 in "Bliss Castle," Prussia, according a census entry for his grown daughter. I am guessing that the town was Blieskastel, now in Saarland. In 1852 he married Ann Clark (from Ireland) in Elizabeth, NJ, where he lived until his death in 1886. He and Ann had three children: Mary, who married Francis Hess; Elizabeth, who married John J. Lanigan; and John Jacob Michael, who never married but was a carpenter like his father and a sometime saloon keeper in Elizabeth, NJ.

Hi Debbie!

It's been some time since we were in touch. I'm afraid I don't really know how to research in Germany. My nephew, Gary Blank, visited Frankenthal several years ago and he said this was one of the areas of Germany which were devastated during the 2nd World War. He did say he checked the phone book and found several Blanks and he even found some in one of the cemeteries but there were none from back in the 1700's. I don't think he checked any church or public records so perhaps those may be places to look. I have been told that Germans are known for keeping very good records especially the churches. I believe the Blancks were Lutherans.

Meredith, I can help you out with the burial sites of John George (1729-1799) and of Hans Adam (1705-1765). My husband is a descendent of John George and his son, John George, Jr. John George is buried at the cemetery in Coopersburg, PA - the Blue Church - St. Paul's Lutheran Union Church. Hans Adam is buried at the cemetery at
the Western Salisbury Union Church in Western Salisbury Twp. Hans Adam was one of the founders of this church and there is on display there the pewter baptismal font and communion cup donated by him to the church. We saw the gravesite for John George with a plaque commemorating his service during the Revolution War right behind the church.
Although the records show Hans Adam is buried at the
the Western Salisbury graveyard, the old stones are too weathered to know exactly where he and his wife are buried.
If you get a chance to check out these cemetaries I'm sure you will be glad you did.

Sebastian Blanck

Admittedly, I am a novice at this, but I can confidently trace my ancestors back to Dr. George A. Blanck (1837-1892) and his spouse, Amelia Solliday (1834-1912), since I have physically seen their gavestones. However, I would love more info beyond this time. Apparently, I am descended from John Blanck (1792-1860), George Adam Blank (1758-1831), Johann George Blank (1729-1799), Hans Adam Blanck (1705-1765), and Sebastian Blank/Blanck (1675-1715). I would appreciate any info about burial sites. In addition, I am curious as to how and why the tree begins with Sebastian and abruptly ends with George Adam Blanck.

Mary A. Blanck

Looking for connecting information about my greatgrandmother, born Mary A. Blanck. She was born in Pennsylvania on November 4, 1850. Her mother's maiden name reportedly was Morris. Mary married Henry M. Burt, date and location unknown. They settled in Michigan and had 5 children including 4 sons George (b.1873?), Henry M. (1878), Arthur (b.1887), and Clyde (b. 1893)and daughter Rose (b.?) With the exception of Henry M. Burt who remained in Michgan, Mary A. Blanck Burt and her other children all settled in Los Angeles area after her husband died. Please help me with any information you may have on her early Pennsylvania family of origin and/or her children's descendants. I'm researching my grandfather Henry M. Burt but want to find earlier Blanck relatives and his sibs' descendants in California as well. Thank you so much. You may contact me by reply to message board or e-mail: spirit@atdial.net Suzanne Burt Olson

Dear Maxine:

This week I found your email, after ignoring the message boards for awhile. Thanks so much for answering and for your willingness to help me with Mary A. Blanck Burt. (Also sent you a longer message on your private email a couple of days ago.) I have read your many other messages on this board and realize how many Blanck family records you have accumulated. What an interesting family!

I grew up in Michigan and note that so many in our extended family settled in Calhoun, Jackson or Washtenaw counties. Will await your further response with great interest.

Suzanne

My grandfather was named Edward Blanck (spelled with a "C"). I believe he was born in 1904 and died on 8/27/62. Exactly one year after the reported date of death you gave and the last name is spelled slightly differently. Just coincidnece?
