They were divorced in 1944 in Reno NV. My husband and I believe that she then married Walter Arkush in Monterey CA in 1949 and disappeared into the wilds of Idaho.

Shirley, within my Blankenship ancestors it was alternately spelled Blankenship, Blankinship, Blankingship, etc. depending on who was taking the census and whether they could spell or not. My grgr grandmother spelled it Blankinship, but somewhere after that, it standardized and all of our family started using the Blankenship spelling.
We are all related.

Also interested in any other photos of the Blankenships or Perkins. There is a good possiblities that I could obtain Blankenship photos from my current location.

Do you have anything on Mary (Polly), sister of Jerome? I have her as being married to Phillip Ray/Wray in Madison County, AL. She too moved to the same areas as Jerome in the 1860s.

A newspaper article on p. 4 of the May 15, 1914 issue of the Webster City Tribune mentions Hattie Haddox received a dispatch from her eldest Ed Blankenship. So her first child was a son and would have been around age 10 in 1914.
Does anyone have access to this newspaper so entire article can be read? From the snippet I could read on-line it sounded like someone was in serious condition. Perhaps her husband William Edward Blankenship died around that time & Hattie later married a Mr. White.
Lee

I am related to Hattie Haddox 1868-1955 of Webster City, Hamilton Co., Iowa and have a great deal of info on her and her descendants. Her eldest of 10 children was named Harriet Victoria Haddox. There is a grave in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City next to Hattie (Hopkins) Haddox & Jay L. Haddox 1861-1907 for H. Victoria White 1887-1920. I'm assuming this is Harriet Victoria Haddox. I'm just now finding out about the Blankenships. Was she married twice?

I ran across an obit. for Betty Lu Roe 1928-1937 of Liberty Twp., Hamilton Co., Iowa. It mentions her great grandparents
Hattie Hopkins, R. F. Blankenship of Williams, Iowa and Anna Roe.
Grandparents Ed Blankenship of Williams, Iowa and Ole & Mary Roe.
Parents Omer & Audrey Roe.

Please contact me.
leeashmore2003@yahoo.com

Hi there, thanks for the message. Yes, Jennie is the daughter of Jerome Perkins.

If this is the same Jerome Perkins, then we would be related as he was my 3x great grandfather. I don't have a Mary as a sister to him though - but I do have a Polly (I have noticed Polly substituted or as a nickname often for the name Mary - not sure why). It is also possible I am just missing her on my tree.

My Jerome William Perkins (1833-1890) was born in Madison County, AL to Joshua Perkins and Elizabeth Singleton. He shows up in Mississippi on the 1860 census and dies in Clay County in 1890. He married Martha Blankenship in Dec 1850.

Joshua Perkins and Elizabeth Singleton lived in Kentucky and Alabama.

Any similarities?

Charissa
I saw this post about information going back 50 years. I've been scouring every source I have without actually travelling to where I need to go since funds are limited right now. I'm trying to find any information I can on John Morgan Blankenship, Sr. His son, my great uncle, John Morgan Blankenship, Jr passed away early last year and that's when I started the journey into my family tree. John Sr. was married to my great grandmother Cora Lee Salyers and they had several children, one of them being my grandmother Viola Cordalee. I have his birth and death dates listed as 6-4-1904 to 2-15-1963. So far the only thing I am finding is his headstone in Roselawn Cemetary. I found death records matching the burial site and it was signed by Abe Blankenship as next of kin. There is also an entry on ancestry.com that show his parents may have been Acie David Blankenship and Emma Short. In this entry it shows he was married to Ida Mae Asbury. I was wondering if maybe Abe and Acie are the same man? I know it's not uncommon for people to be remarried after being widowed.

Thanks for any information you can help me with. I've been at a road block on this one for some time now. The still living relatives aren't for sure what his parents names were.

Hi there Carrie -

This is the information I found in the Blankenship database on RootsWeb for John Morgan Blankenship:

Name: John Morgan Blankenship
Sex: M
Birth: 1904 in Buchanan Co., VA
Reference Number: 36638

Father: Acie David Blankenship b: 1873 in Buchanan Co., VA
Mother: Emma Short b: 1871 in Buchanan Co., VA

Marriage 1 Ida Mae Asbury
Children
Wayne Ellis Blankenship b: AFT 1900

I don't know if this is the person you are searching for, but I hope so. This record does not indicate a marriage to Cora Lee Salyers, but second and even third marriages were not uncommon.

Here is the web address for the record: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

This site is updated regularly and has been invaluable in my search for my Blankenship ancestors.

Good luck!
Stacy

I'm trying to find any information I can gather up on John Morgan Blankenship, Sr so I can continue my trek down my family tree. So far what I have is that he was married to Cora Lee Salyers, the birthdate I have for him is June 4, 1904, passing date is February 15, 1963. They were married in War, Mc Dowell Co., WV. Most, of his still surving children live in Alabama. My grandmother is Viola Cordalee Blankenship Fairchild. This is my great grandfather and cannot seem to go back any farther than him on his side though I've gone a few generations back on Cora Lee's side.

Any and all help would be welcomed and greatly appreciated as I've got limited funds and cannot do a lot of travelling to get a lot of this information.

Thank you to anyone that can help.

Carrie Paulsen
princessdarkstarr@gmail.com

Dick was born about 1942, married an Arab woman named Merium, and had a son named Omar.
Thanks, Jim! I appreciate you looking into the WV census records and sharing your Blankenship research. I'm going to ask my mom and aunts about Mae's full given name. They don't remember much about her, but everyone's doing their best to pull together some details.

Thanks again for your help with this!

Best,
Eric

Hi Eric

1920 Census, Elkhorn, McDowell Co., WV, Page #121, Dwlg #236/231, 30 Jan
Crigger, Joseph F.	33, W, M, M, VA-VA-VA, Head, Laborer, Paint Shop,
Crigger, May 29, W, F, M, VA-VA-VA, Wife,
Crigger, Helen M.	07, W, F, S, VA-VA-VA, Dau,

looked them up in the 1920 Census. so abt 1891 would be the birth year. Looked in 1900 Census for Mae in Blend, Tazwell, Mercer, and McDowell, and Pike Co., KY and didn't find her.

we need the other given name, IE Mae Something, or Something Mae.

from WV Death

http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_dcdetail.aspx?Id=4651314

http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_dcdetail.aspx?Id=4666835

and you take a look at the information that I have online at

http://blankenshipweb.com/stateinfo/usa/

JIM

Hi Jim!

I don't have much on Mae - but I'm happy to share what I've found so far:

Mae {May} Blankenship Crigger {Cregger}
Birth abt 1891 in Bland County, Virginia, USA
Lived in Elkhorn, Mcdowell, West Virginia 1920-1930 (at least)
Death 1953 in Wythe County, Virginia, USA

It looks like she may have had a daughter, Helen M. Crigger, in 1913 who shows up on the 1920 census at 7 years old, but I don't think she survived long enough to make it in the 1930 census. Joseph Martin Crigger and Robert Crigger are listed in the 1930 census as her only children.

Here's hoping you find something!

Thanks,
Eric

I have an ancestor, Archibald Blankenship born in 1782 in Virginia. Living in Richmond in 1850 with daughter Maria. Does anyone have information on this family? The Blankenship's, Totty's and Nunnally's are quite intertwined in the Chesterfield Va area.
