Actually, I do have this book and believe it can still be obtained from the Genealogical Society. However, people are not grouped by cemetery, but by surname. You need to scan the entire book and look for the cemetery number to find who is in a particular cemetery. Another person in the Bell Cemetery is Daniel Parnell, my great, great, great grandfather. I went to the cemetery to photograph his grave. The Blanns and Parnells intermarried, but it makes the Blanns more of an offshoot line for me and I have not done much research on them other than trying to be sure that what little I have entered is correct.

I have been tracking Lindsey Marshall Booth(e)for over 20 years and cannot confirm where or when he died with any hard evidence. I do have pictures of Susan Blann Booth(e)'s tombstone in the Alameda Cemetery near Ranger, Texas, so I know that is true, she died in April of 1877. I will gladly share what I have. Family verbal history has been said that she was killed when her skirt was caught in the wagon wheel and it ran over her. Family verbal - also has said that Lindsey died before they left Alabama and Susan and the children came to Texas. My email is davis.trish@lockney.isd.tenet.edu. I have quiet a bit of information on Silas Blann would love to share what I have.

Just found your post on Silas & Elizabeth Blann's gravesite. Do you know if there is a complete reading of the Bell Cemetery? I have quite a bit of information on this couple as they would be my third-great grandparents through their dauther Susan Blann who married Lindsey Marshall Booth. I have been searching for the death date and location of Lindsey Marshall Booth for over many, many years.

Here's a clue I received I haven't been able to verify or unravel:

per Franklin Ingram email dated 06-18-2000

have no information on an Elizabeth Averyt, but Arthur Avera had a
daughter named Elizabeth who would have been the right age to have married
Silas Blann. Arthur was the unborn son of Thomas Avera, Sr, my ancestor,
mentioned in the 1760 Will. Arthur was in Wilkes Co GA before 1790 and died
about 1825 in Putnam Co GA. I have the years a little off, but she seems
like a good candidate for Silas.

"Note, Arthur Avera's and Henry "Harry" Averyt's(wife of Telitha Blann, Silas's sister) lines are separate and distinct but they both have roots in Johnston Co NC and they were friends with each other in Johnston Co NC and later in GA. "

Often names were corrupted or changed during those early years and colonial times.

There is no information as to who his parents were.

I believe Charles Bland does not have proof but speculates that George Bland may be Silas Bland/Blann's father.

Silas married Elizabeth Averytt...Does anyone no who her parents were?

I am from Silas, William Y H, Richard T, Bertha Bennie

Laurie

Bland the Historian for the Bland Family in his Bland family newsletter published in July 1999 has a section on the Blanns/Blands of Dallas County, Alabama. In this section he has a Thomas Blann (1801-c1850) born in Georgia who married a woman named Polly Hardin in Jasper Co., Georgia on Febrary 16, 1819. This Thomas apparently was the son of Stephen Blann and Martin Raynor (Rayner. Thomas was one of five children all listed in the newsletter. Hope that this is of some help to you.

Bernie in Virginia

Canary Smith BLANN

Interested in finding out more about the family that Canary Smith BLANN married into. She married Robert Nathaniel HUNT on 23 Jan 1868. I believe he was the son of Nathaniel HUNT and Roxanne Payne, early settlers in Calhoun County. Believe Robert's father gave the land for the City of Hampton, Calhoun County, Arkansas. Would like to share information.
Lucinda Roark Blann died in Calhoun County, Arkansas and was buried there in Friendship Cemetery. Please note that Lucinda's husband's name was William Henry Young Blann (yes he had 4 names). W. H. Y. Blann's father was Silas Blann (b. 1794 in GA and died 4-2-1858 in Dallas County, ALABAMA).
My years of research have not been able to determine Silas Blann's parentage or the connection to Richard Blann the Patriot. The most I've seen is conjecture that they are related. Happy Ancestor Hunting

Silas Blann you mention was born in Jasper County, Georgia 1794. His siblings were James, Stephen and Telitha. I have not yet been able to find and confirm the parents of these Blann siblings. The only Richard Blann noted in the family tree is a Richard Thomas Blann born in 05-31-1846. The Blann siblings were sometimes shown to be from North Carolina and they later lived in Georgia. Hope this helps. There is no record that his father's name was Silas. Silas of 1794 did have a son named Silas L. Blann.

William Henry Blann - born February 14, 1840 in Dallas County Alabama and died 07-31-1912 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. He married Miriam Gosa on 11-15-1861 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. Her dates are June 6, 1846 (born in TX) to 02-28-1982 in Calhoun County and both are buried in Friendship Cemetery. His son Gideon Blann married Sallie Porter and they had several children, one of them being Ethel Irene Blann that married Charles E. Hines. William Henry Blann's parents were William Young Henry Blann and Lucinda Smith Roark. I noticed someone had given you misinformation saying that the William Henry Blann you inquired about was married to Lucinda. You'll note Lucinda's husband wass William Young Henry Blann. Hope this helps.

Re: Silas Blann - What am I missing?

Based on my research I have found the following:
Silas Blann buried in Bell Cemetery was born in 1794 and died April 2, 1858 at age 64. His wife was born in 1796 (Elizabeth) and died Oct 20 1853 at age 57 (not age 52). Asenath was born March 20, 1828 and deid Feb 16, 1871. The 52 and 57 may look similar due to aging on the stone for Elizabeth. Based on Silas' will his wife preceeded him in death because his heirs were only his children. His wife did not survive him to inherit. So the 1882 death year you state may have been misread as well. I too have visited the cemetery several years back and perhaps the dates are harder to read now. At the time of my visit the tombstones confirmed my other findings and the dates I am giving you in this reply. Hope this helps. Will information is Dallas County AL 1860 Estate Book L Page 96)
Silas Blann - What am I missing?

I have unsourced information (some of it appearing on Ancestry) that Asenath A. Blann is the daughter of Silas Blann and Elizabeth Ann Averytt. I recently went to Bell's Cemetery in Alabama and viewed the headstones for Silias and Elizabeth. They stated that Silas died 4/2/1858 at age 64 and Elizabeth, wife of Silas, died October 20, 1882 at age 52 years. The book "Vital Data from Cemeteries in Dallas County, Alabama" indicates that Asenath was born March 20, 1828 and died February 16, 1871. That makes her born 2 years before her mother.

What am I missing?

Silas Blann (b 1792) is my ggg grandfather. Any information on his father, Silas Blann #1, would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for information on Madge Blann, who I believe was from Scotland, and was possibly visiting her relative Isabella Marr Blann Booth (husband: John Copland Booth) in Barre, Vermont, in 1949. Isabella was my 1st cousin, 2x removed, and was on the list of guests invited to my parents' wedding in 1949, as was Madge, whose address was listed "care of" Isabella. My parents don't remember who she was or how she was related to the other Blanns, and I'm trying to include her in my family tree, but don't know where to put her. Isabella and John Booth, incidentally, were the parents-in-law of Charles Jackson, who wrote the novel "The Lost Weekend", which was turned into a movie starring Ray Milland.

I am helping a friend do research on her Blann/Bland Family.

Her ancestry is as follows:

Emma Bland child of Lucinda Roark, b. 1821, Ala., d. 1912 (in Franklin Co., AR.??) and Wm. H. Blann, b. 1819, Ala. and d. 1854.

There is at least one generation, possibly two between Wm. H. Blann and the Patriot Richard Blann, b. 1710, Jordan's Point, VA and d. 1776, Williamsburg, VA.

Do you know who the person/persons would be between Wm.H and Richard? Any help would be appreciated and if you know where they were located it would be great.
