We have found three lines with similar DNA:

Tidewater Blantons-descended from Thomas and Jane Blanton of Essex VA ca. 1682.

Blandings-Descended for William Blanton/Blantine of Boston MA. By the 1700s, they all seem to have spelled the name Blanding. Our only participant matches the signature haplotype of the Tidewater Blantons 40/43. However, we need to test other descendents to deduce William's haplotype.

Southwest VA Blantons-Descend from John of Harlan KY and William of Lee VA. Their signature haplotype differs from the Tidewater by a mutation on DYS438, a very slow marker.

The following are not close matches:

Womack-Blantons-They are descendants of William, Jeremiah, Claiborn and Obediah Blanton of Rutherford NC. Their father was Archee Blanton. His parents were Abraham Womack and Ann Blanton, who were not married.

Kershaw SC Blantons-Descendants of William Blanton of Kershaw SC, found in records there in 1800. We know nothing about their origins.

We also tested two Blantons that do not match the others. However, we don't know when the non-paternity event occurred.

Mrs. Martha HEFLIN, age 41, m/o Wm. BLANTON in 1880 Census of Elmore Co., AL

It looks like William M. was the son of Martha Blanton Heflin based on the 1880 Elmore census. They came from Mississippi, although Martha was born in Alabama. The only Martha Blanton that I can find in MS of the right age was Martha C. Blanton, wife of William H. Blanton. His lineage goes:

Reuben of Rutherford NC>Lewis, SC>John, Choctaw MS>William H.

They are part of the Tidewater Blantons. There is some info on the family in Louise McDonald's work, which can be downloaded from:

www.blantonfamilyhistorians.com

Very little is known about William H. He appears in the 1860 census of Choctaw. However, I cannot find him, Martha Blanton or Martha Heflin in the 1870.

You may also want to test to be certain that you are a Tidewater Blanton before pursuing further research. This is our project website:

http://blantonfamilydna.webs.com/

I have an Arthur H. Blanton born Nov 1896 in Monroe County, AL. Father was James E. Blanton. Do you know the names of any of your great grandfather's siblings? Do you know his middle name? Has the name Hilliard been used as a middle name in your line? If this is the correct family, it has been researched back to 1788.

It is right as far back as Elijah. He was the son of Joshua and Lucy Crenshaw Blanton, originally from Prince Edward VA. Joshua was the son of Thomas and Anne Blanton. He was the son of Thomas and Jane Blanton. There is no evidence of his father's name, even though some bogus genealogies on the web give the name John.

You may want to test a male with an all-male lineage from Elijah to verify the lineage. The site is at:

http://blantonfamilydna.webs.com/

Jenelle is just beginning to construct the site, so check back often.

David's Joshua moved to Indiana and died there.

Your Joshua just seems to have appeared out of nowhere, which makes me think there may have been a name change. Before spending more time on research, I would suggest a DNA test to make sure he was from a historical Blanton line. You would need to test a male descended through an all-male line from Joshua. Go to Ancestry and search for the Blanton Group Project:

http://www.dna.ancestry.com

For the record, the man in question is almost certainly Paschael Green BLANTON , Jr., 1860-1937, s/o Paschael Green BLANTON, c1811-1860, and Catherine "Kitty" LASHLEY of Grayson Co., KY

Paschael Green BLANTON (Sr.) was a son of Abraham BLANTON, b. ca. 1766-1769, North Carolina and his wife Nancy. Paschel (Sr.) died at age 49, and must have been much beloved by this family, because his nephews were bestowed with the name Paschael.

Info from Death Certificate:
Pascal Green Blanton Jr
Death: 7 Feb 1937, Ohio Co., KY
Residence: Ohio Co., KY
Age: 77
Widowed, White, Male
Birth: 8 Aug 1859, Kentucky
Spouse: Dull Tunstall
Father: Pascal Blanton, b. KY
Mother: (none given), b. KY
Informant: J. P. Wilson

Although his death certificate states he was born in Aug 1859, he did not appear with his family in the 1860 Census of Grayson Co., KY, and his birth is listed as Aug 1860 in the 1900 Census of Grayson Co., KY

1900 - Short Creek, Grayson Co., KY
Green Blanton, 39, KY, KY, KY, md 16y
Dulcena, 60, IN, KY, KY, 1 child, 1 living

I speculate that the child born to Dulcenia TUNSTALL may have been from a prior marriage, because none are living with the family in 1900, they have been married for only 16 years, and Dulcenia is twenty years older than her husband.

Info from his the Death Cert. of his wife:
Della Blanton
Death: 10 Apr 1916, Breckinridge Co., KY
Residence: Breckinridge Co., KY
Age 76
Married, White, Female
Birth: 1840, Grayson Co., KY
Father: John R Tunstal

Bill Vincent
....
...
..
.

But it wasn't the name you referenced. As Far as I know, the Green Blanton there was not in Breckinridge . . . he was the great grandson of Joshua (who died in Garred County in 1796) & Lucy. It doesn't sound like same one but it may help keep the ground clutter down.

Rich Blanton

They had two sons, Arthur L. and Marriel and two daughters, Carrie Mae and Annie Beatrice. They resided in Weoka, Alabama during the time the 1920 Census was filed. He is not listed with my g-grandmother or the children by the time the 1930 Census was taken. My mother was told his family migrated to America from Holland and registered at Ellis Island; I do not know if this was before or after he was born. My g-grandmother and g-grandfather were estranged, however never officially divorced. It is said after their break-up that he moved to Montgomery, AL where he died sometime around 1964. Any info would be greatly appreciated :)
