I'm glad I could be of some help to you,
Sharon. I hope that this turns out to be the
guy you're looking for. It looks like
serendipity is on your side, anyway! I'd love
to know what you find in SLC and in France.
As far as I know, all the Blasings in this
country originated in what is now Northeast
Germany and Northwest Poland. Mine come from a
village that was called Hansfelde and is now
either Tychowo or Pila in Poland. I have
some church records on the way from Salt
Lake City that I hope will clear some of this
up. Anyway, from what I've heard, a lot of
people from that region emigrated in the mid
18th century. That's why there are Blasing
contingents in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas and Wales,
of all places. I don't know anything about the
French Blasings, though. It's possible that
they started out in France or that they came
from Prussia like my Blasings. Maybe your
globetrotting can clear this up for all of us!
You can either reply to me here or e-mail me
