Emanuel (Mannie) Blaugrund, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1936, died Saturday, July 4, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter Linda Alongi, and husband Carl; sons Lee Blaugrund, and Cliff Blaugrund, and wife Nancy, all of Albuquerque; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frieda in 1984. Born in Czechoslovakia, Mr. Blaugrund came to the United States in 1921. He founded American Furniture Co. in 1936 which consists of two Albuquerque showroom stores and American Warehouse Plus and stores in Santa Fe, Farmington, and Tuscon, AZ. Mr. Blaugrund retired in 1984. He was well-known and respected businessman who believed in quality, value and service. Over the years he was honored by many business and civic organizations. Mr. Blaugrund was a member on Congregation Albert, B'nai Israel, Kiwanis Club, and Elks Lodge #461. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, at 1:30 P.M. at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE, with Rabbi Joseph R. Black, officiating. Interment will take place and Congregation Albert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Congregation Albert, Albuquerque Community Foundation, 3301 Menaul Blvd. NE, of a charity of your choice. Pallbearers: Benjamin Blaugrund, Daniel Blaugrund, Jeffery Blaugrund, Marc Alongi, Alan Blaugrund, and Alan Marks. Honorary Pallbearers: Morton Blaugrund, Harold Gardenswarts and Randolph Seligman
