I know there is six years hence my last communication with you. I do hope you and your family are doing well. Should you receive this post, please know that we've done some checking. We do have relatives that are related to us in the North. Our lines which include one Mayflower sojourner, as well as John Hancock, Robert Morris (another Signer of the Declaration of Independence). This comes from the Saunders family that married into the Blayton family. I would so love to know more about your Blighton family. Thank you so much

Now it only took me five years later to discover your response to my email. However, I believe a cousin contacted you maybe a couple years ago. Are you still online? I agree with you wholeheartedly about the messiness of name spellings.

Here is the problem: My Great Great Greatgrandfather William Blayton was born in 1793. Beyond that, we can not find anything. There is a Thomas Blyton whose wife is Joane Blyton who immigrated to Virginia with three children, Thomas Jr, George and Sarah. This passenger list is dated 1706 to Virginia. Prior to that Thomas Blayton who instigated the Bacon Rebellion, who is supposedly the bastard son of Sir William Berkeley. He did own land as our family still lives on the Blayton estate. Any information you have with your Bliton family would help me tremendously!!! Thank you!!!

I saw the name blayden on the post and thought I would post my name here. I don't know how my parents came up with the name and nobody in my family has it either. Therefore, I am probably not related to anyone, but just have it as a first name. It's a cool name by the way and many people compliment me on the uniqueness of it.

Your Thomas Blayton sounds a lot like the Thomas Blighton I have been trailing. My family name is Blighton and I have seen in the records the name spelled several different names incluting Blayton. I think there may be a connection between our Blighton name in New York/Vermont in late 1700's and the Blighton name in Charles City Co, VA in 1600's.

I believe from previous postings of yours and your Dad's that you're descended from Charles Blayden? I'm also descended from Blaydens from Swaffham Bulbeck and Swaffham Prior and have a fairly complete family tree. (includes Matthew b. ca 1768, his sons Richard b. 1802, John b. 1809, William b. 1814 (there were daughters as well) and Levi b. 1836, Nathan b. 1837, Hilkiah b. ca 1844, Matthew b.ca 1848, Noah b. ca 1852, Manoah b. ca 1853, sons of - I think- the same William Bladon, and their descendents).

I also have some information on the marriages and children of Richard and John.

If any of these sound like your forebears, let me know and I'll send you in full all the information I have.

I am great-granddaughter of a Blayden who stayed in England.

Interesting that there is a strong representations of BLAYDEN's in the U.S. we in Australia thought we were by ourselves. I'm helping my father Barry do some research.

If anyone knows any information on the heritage of Blaytons who settled in Charles City County, VA during the early 1600s. Thomas Blayton was an attorney and member of the House of Burgesses of the then crown colony. (It is said that he was related to then Gov.William Berkeley, who was appointed by King James) It is believed his family originates from Gloucestershire. It is also the genealogical roots of the Berkeley family.

Also, does anyone know the relationship of Wm. Berkeley to Bishop George Berkeley of Cloyne? Thanking in advance for any expedient response

Good to hear more info on the Blayden/Bladen Family, just getting back into searching this week. Have some info that may add to this subject, just moved will get it out and post what I have.
Gina, my husband's father is Leroy Glenn Blayden, we believe his father's name is Roy Earl Blayden, they were from Idaho. I did find a Roy Earl Blayden listed on the SSDI, card issued in Idaho, also WWI draft registration. Am somewhat cofused, find some listings for Iowa and some for Idaho, believe however they are the same Blayden's. One shows Gertrude as being born in NE parents moving to Idaho, then next child born there.
On my father in law, just found this info:

Place of birth: Longview, WA
d. 9-25-99, Huachuca City, AZ
Father: Roy E (Earl?) Blayden
Mother: Esther R (Ruth?) Hanson

Even though Leroy was born in Longview, WA we believe many of our family was born in ID., they settled there at some point.
One of our relatives is Clarence Elzy Talbott/Talbot, we have a book he wrote (small biography), about his journey from Longview, WA to Eastern WA, there's a lot of info in that including a limited family tree. Will find that and see if these Blayden's connect to James Horatio Blayden.

To answer your question my great grandfather James Horatio Blayden (changed spelling from Bladen) was born 1/16/1860 in Livingston Co, IL and died 2/25/1905 in Canyon Co, ID. Haven't been online much this last week. Thanks for the replies, am still looking for the biography we have mentioned in my other post. I'm baffled, am almost sure James Horatio is in our line, and my husband's gradfather's name was Roy Earl Blayden, married to Esther R. Hanson, do you know if this is the same Roy (son) of the James Blayden you've posted about?
