Hi Keith,
most of what you sent me is correct. Here is the difference, my mother(Mildred Elizabeth) maiden name Blayney, married Frederick Gorr. I am one of the issues of that marriage. I married Jacob Kaldenberger, that's where the Kaldenberger name comes in.
I am glad to see a thread (2nd cousin to Francis) come to my attention. How exciting.
I have a picture of Francis martin Blayney that my sister-in-law/ 2nd cousin is restoring for me. If you are interested I can send you a copy.
Thanks for taking the time to email me
Sharon Kaldenberger

Hi Sharon,
It appears I have you confused with Sharron Smith who on 20th Nov 2000 wrote:
"I am writing for my mother-in-law who is Sara Jane Blaney (Blayney) Smith. He father was Leon Harold Blayney who later shortened the spelling of his name to Blaney. He was origionally from Pennsylvania and we know very little about his family. She is in her mid 80's and a good deal of the information she may have known is very fuzzy. Our daughter is marrying in the spring and wants information on the family. He was born late in the 19 century and lived to be in his 80's. He was a small man with fair hair and looks very much like his great granddaughter. We have a picture of him at the age of 19 which was taken in 1900.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Sharron Smith"

However, if you look at the www.keithblayney.com/Blayney/CadwalladerUSA.html page where I have:
Francis Martin BLAYNEY b.8Aug1892; d. Demoines IA. married to Ann(a) Minerva GRASS b.24Apr1895; d.14Feb1972 in IL. with children Harold Francis BLAYNEY, Leona (Nonie) Mary BLAYNEY, Mildred Elizabeth BLAYNEY and Mitchell BLAYNEY. Mildred married ___ KALDENBERGER and had Sharon Lee Gorr KALDENBERGER (presumably you).
I hope you can tell me what is correct and what isn't.

Sharron Smith's information relates to one Leon Harold BLANEY b.14Jan1881 Washington, PA. the 2nd cousin of your Francis Martin BLAYNEY (common ancestor = Cadwallader BLAYNEY born c.1705).
My apologies for any confusion.
Keith Blayney

thanks for your reply. It was your website that started me looking for my and my husbands family. now I am consumed by this journey. There seems to be no record of Anna Grass before she married my grandfather Francis martin Blayney. I'm at a loss on how to find her. She says in all the census that she was born in Missouri but it is unknown where or when. We always celebrated her birthday on April 24..(1895) She died Feb 14, 1972(this is one fact I can be sure of) any suggestions for me??? from one Blayney to another. Have you any interest in the sibblings of harold, Mildred, or Mitchell? Sharon Lee Gorr Kaldenberger

I have Francis Martin BLAYNEY b.8Aug1892 married to Ann GRASS on my Blayney web site. Children were Harold Francis BLAYNEY,
Leona Mary BLAYNEY, Mildred Elizabeth BLAYNEY (your mother) and Mitchell BLAYNEY. Unlike any US based search, I have the Blayney ancestry traced by discovering that there had been a change from Blaney back to Blayney.
M Blayney,
The Chester Blayney book is on line in a very readable format. It starts with the decendants of Cadwallader Blayney and has them all sequencially numbered so you can keep track of which Henry Blayney out of many you are reading about. I found it by typing Cadwallader Blayney in a Search Box in a Search Engine. My name as Lori Scott decendant of Robert Blayney is included. I was born in 1961. Bill Blayney in Texas is still working on adding the decendants since then. They are on a scroll and are going to a computer disk. Happy hunting. Lori

Mr. Black,
I understand that you have researched the question of the precise linkages between the Blayney's of Ireland, the Blayney's of Wales and the Blayney's of America. In particular, I'm trying to find out how the brothers Cadwallader, James and John Blayney, who supposedly emigrated to the USA in the 1790's, may be related to the Irish or Welsh parts of the family. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

I'd like to find out more info about the family. I have a frail copy of Chester O's book, which was sent by Chester to my father in the 1960's. Has any member of the family tried to update Chester's research, or to convert it into a more modern and easier-to-use format? Does someone currently have Chester's papers, pictures, etc.? Finally, I'm particularly interested in pictures of descendants of the Rev. Dr. John M. Blayney. I'd appreciate any info you (or any other readers) may provide. Thanks.

Blayney family History

I am writing for my mother-in-law who is Sara Jane Blaney (Blayney) Smith.

Thank You,

Sharron Smith

BLAYNEY FAMILY

for Jennifer (Blayney) Harden. I read your message asking for help to find Blayney book going back to 100BC in Ireland. I'm sorry to have to say that I cannot think that any family tree could possibly go back to 100BC. The Blayney family tree has been traced back to 970AD and the family was originally Welsh, not Irish. One branch of the Welsh family went to Ireland in 1621 with the Earl of Essex and became the Baron Blayneys of Monaghan. My mother is a Blayney and we have a copy of the family tree going back to 970AD (with some gaps down the line). If you would like any information please contact me.

I am looking for information on the Blaines in South Africa. We are descended from the Blayneys of Gregynog, Wales by way of Co. Monaghan, Ireland. I am not sure when this branch of the family changed to the "Blaine" spelling, but my g-great grandfather was a "Sir Benjamin" Blaine or Blayney that apparently moved from England to South Africa in the 19th Century. His son, Cyril Maud Blaine was born in July of 1876 at Durban, South Africa.

Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Blayney's in Madeira?

I just got a 23 marker dna match with a Blayney. Problem is, my paternal line is from Madeira, Portugal. Further problem is my GGrandfather was an orphan on Madeira...given the name Camara (not born with it). This is an intriguing new avenue of possibility ofr finding more about my direct line paternal ancestry. Does anyone know of any Blayneys that may have visited or lived in Madeira Portugal at ANY point in time?
Ed Camara

Hi Ed,
I'm looking for my relations on my mother's side. Mum was born Edith Blayney Simpson. She often told me that I was one quarter French plus some Spanish Gypsy blood but she never mentioned on whose side. I know this is not Portugese but....
After reading your posting perhaps it could have been the Blayney side. That would put any Continental connections at about 1870 -1900 for my Blayney grandparent or earlier for a great grandparent.
I think this could be a long shot but do any Simpsons or Morgans(a Morgan married a Blayney Simpson) fit into your line of research. I'm short of info on my maternal line at present as I have only just received my mother's birth certificate with definite dates with correct spellings.
Sincerely,
Dennis

I have as far back as 1750 on a John Blaney that married a Ruth Taber/Tabor. They were married in CT, then lived in Renn. Co. NY. He supposedly died in Stephentown, NY. Do you have any connections to them? Where did you get the book?

RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA)

Blayney, D. V.

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes).

I extracted all of the names (& some other information) from the yearbook & have put them on my genealogy web site (total of 13 web pages, containing over 1,900 records; sorted alphabetically by surname).

The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site, not just data about the families I am researching.
