It wasn't Straussberg, Germany, but Russia. It was common for Germans who immigrated to name the towns after familiar names in Germany. Elsass is an example of this as well.

Donald Lee Blehm Sr. Obit.

Donald L. Blehm, 70, of Billings, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at St. Vincent Healthcare, after a short battle against cancer.
Don was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Billings, the son of Jacob and Amelia (Butz) Blehm.
He entered the Army in 1954, after graduating from Senior High. Don was honorably discharged in 1957. Later that year he married the love of his life, Marjorie Brent.
Don's gift was sales, where he worked at a number of places. In 1974, he started City Auto Supply, which he later sold. He and Marjorie moved to Bozeman and established Big Sky Auto Supply, moving back to Billings and opening Mountain Motor Supply, which had three locations. In 1996, Don sold Mountain Motor Supply after having a stroke. Don semi-retired, staying busy helping his daughter and son-in-law start up their business: Mountain PBE Supply.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ray Blehm Sr., Irvin Blehm, Jack Blehm; and his five sisters, Julia Long, Amelia Bryant, Harriette Strecker, Margaret Reinbeck and Edna Canaan.
Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marjorie; three children, Kelly (Terry) Steele, Donald (Dawn) Blehm Jr. and Douglas Blehm; and a brother, James Blehm. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Mary (Mark) Gaughan, Wayne, Shayla, Samantha, Molly, Alexander and Lucas Blehm; and his three great-grandchildren, Connor, Olivia and Ellie Gaughan.
Don was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His generosity was greatly appreciated. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Again, Don worked very hard in his lifetime, so, as he always said, "Get back to work and answer the phones."
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life, 550 N. 31st, Suite 103, Billings, MT 59101.
Florentine Kisch Schiewe Blehm Obituary

Seventh-day Adventist Church
Southwestern Union Record
May 20, 1931 Page 4-5

Obituary
-------
BLEHM—Floren Dina Blehm nee Kisch was born in Poland, June 14, 1857 and died at Cashion, Oklahoma, April 26, 1931 at the age of seventy-three years, ten months, twelve days. Death came after several years of affliction with throat cancer of the throat. In 1879 she united in marriage with John Schiewe who preceded her in death.

The family came to America in 1908, locating in Morrison, Oklahoma. In 1912 she united in marriage with George Blehm of Cashion, Oklahoma, who survives her, and with other distant relatives mourn her death. Though she was the last of the Kisch family, many mourn her death, as the last eighteen years of life were spent in Cashion and vicinity, where she made herself a large circle of friends. None sorrow without hope as she was a faithful Christian, having given her heart to the Lord fifty years ago, and 1909 embraced the Seventh-day Adventist faith.

She was devoted to personal missionary work at home and abroad. She was active in this line among her friends and neighbors, and sacrificed in way of means for the world-wide work. Her dying request was that her burial be very simple and plain that means might be saved to the cause of missions. She fell peacefully asleep in Jesus, leaving the consoling hope to her mourners that soon she will meet them, coming forth in the first resurrection to join them where death will never come. Funeral services were conducted from the First Christian Church at Cashion, Oklahoma, by the writer and Elder J.A. Wasenmiller.

W.H. CLARK

German-Russian Blehm family > Colorado

I too have been trying to get information on the German-Russian Blehm family that settled in northern Colorado. All I know now is that my ggrandmother, Katherine Maria Blehm (it may be Maria Katherina Blehm) was born in 1861 in Russia, and died in Ft. Collins CO in 1918. She married Gottfried Winter and they had at least 5 children who survived to adulthood: Eva Katherine (my grandmother), Mary, Jake, Fred, and Lydia. My grandmother was born in Awilova, Saratov, Russia so the family lived there in the 1890s.
I too tried to get information from Brent Mai, but since I don't know any siblings of Katherine Maria Blehm he could not tie my line into his research.
Does anyone have any information that can help me past this brick wall?
Please e-mail me directly with any information: kbsgen@yahoo.com
Thanks!
Kathy

I just received the death certificate for my Blehm ancestor! According to the information on it, Maria Katherina Blehm was the daughter of a George Blehm and Margaret Ehrlich. Other information indicates that she had at least 2 sisters, Hannah and Eva Margaret.
Does this tie into anyone's research?
Thanks!
kbsgen@yahoo.com

Hi Mary:
My Katherine Maria Blehm (or Maria Katherine Blehm) might be a sister to the Hannah Blehm in our records. However, there is quite an age difference between them that makes me suspicious. My Katherine Maria Blehm was born to George & Margaret Ehrlich Blehm on 3 Apr 1861 in Awilova, Saratov, Russia. The information I have shows that Hannah Blehm was born around 1886, and had a sister, Eva (no dates). Although there are a lot of possible connections between my Blehm and many of the others on the list, I can't find any definitive proof to tie my line to anyone else's. Do we have any information on Hannah Blehm's parents that could tie her to my Katherine? I don't have any other information on any possible siblings.
Thanks for the reply - I know you can write me back directly, but this might have some general information that can help others.
Kathy
kbsgen@yahoo.com

Blehm Family Line

Researching information regarding Blehms prior to 1884. Three brothers, David, Jacob and Fredrick George arrived from Straussburg, Germany to Russell, Kansas, approx date 1884. Best of knowledge Jacob went to Ft. Collins, CO at a later date, David to the northern sector (MI or that area), and Fredrick George moved into OK, Blaine Co. during the land rush (1906). This could be the approx time that David moved to MI or vicinity.

Fredrick George had 6 sons. One was Martin Blehm of Hitchcock OK. He is my grandfather. My Father's name is George Joseph Blehm, son of Martin Blehm and Kay (Schneider) Blehm.

George Blehm married Lucy Driver of Watonga, OK in 1929. Had 3 sons. Bob, born July 25, 1930; and twins Berle and Merle born May 6, 1932.

George Blehm deceased Dec. 30, 1994. Bob died Feb. 14, 1991.

Merle Blehm resides in Seattle, WA. Berle is in Oroville, CA. Wife Lucy (lucyle) Blehm resides in Oroville, CA (USA). Now 87 years old.

Looking for info regarding Blehms living in Volga region of Prussia prior to 1884. It is known that the Blehms have a crest and their history goes back to 1735.

I have some info on family tree from 1884 to current. Available to anyone interested in Blehm family tree.

Contact Berle Blehm at kblehm@onemain.com or (530) 534-6000.
